It was fascinating to learn about this being the now-oldest Marriott in existence, celebrating 60 years of continuous operation this year. The staff is excellent and given the age of the facility, it's in pretty good shape. From what I've read, the property will be undergoing substantial renovations over the next few years and will only be a shadow of its former self. This place is in a fantastic location. It seems anything we needed was a 10-15 minute drive in any direction, at most.
HVAC in the room was abysmal. Loud fan/air handler and very little cooling effectiveness. We finally made it to the desired temp in the mid 60s, which still felt awful with the remaining humidity. The plumbing is worn out. Makes a loud screeching sound when the shower is on. I'm assuming these issues will be addressed once the hotel is renovated in coming years.

Great!
Everything was great. Nice pool and workout facilities. Room and amenities were nice. Nice and quiet.
We really wish they had free room wifi, there's lobby wifi but for room wifi you'd have to pay 12-17 dollars. Also the tiny Starbucks coffee downstairs wasn't up to the quality of a regular Starbucks.

Noise from traffic keep me from sleeping
Convenient location with quick access to D.C.; VA & MD. It's obviously an older hotel in need updating but it's none the less nice. Good amenities; room service menu and quality of food was adequate. Nice gym. Great views from the top floor. Didn't take advantage of concierge lounge but the staff made me aware and thanked me for platinum status.
The wing of the hotel And room I was in was the closest to the road and interstate; the windows were not sound proofed and the noise from the traffic (just normal road noise) keep waking me up all night (and I take sedatives to sleep). I've stayed before and the room wasn't on the interstate side and it was fine. Just make sure to get a good location away from traffic.
