Super comfy beds.
Room was comfortable and roomy, location was convenient, quality of the bed and sheets was very high, indoor pool and Jacuzzi was awesome.
It would have been nice to have some basic coffee, refreshment, snack options available in the lobby in the AM so we didn't have to immediately leave the hotel to get basic items to start the day. The price of food and cocktail options in the hotel to purchase was high for what you get, and considering the price we were paying for the hotel room. So it would have been nice to have some basic items available complimentary or at a happy hour type special rate.
Elegant, comfortable, historical in an amazing location
The hotel is right in the middle of Austin. Perfect for walking to the Capitol, downtown bars and restaurants, and South Congress. Great staff. Lovely room.
Cleanliness, and friendly staff. Downtown location is great for exploring 6th st area. South Congress is a long walk (esp. in hot sun), but was still do-able.
Parking at the hotel is $40 / night by valet. We ended up at a nearby garage @ $24 / night.
Location was great and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful.
In "nice" hotels like this, one oftentimes encounters staff workers that are acerbic and demeaning w/o realizing it because the culture of the environment encourages that behavior. The staff in this case was excellent and down to earth. They smiled and laughed when I joked around w/ them (and I am funny .... and cute!). Most notably was our concierge, "Chenisse Johns," OUTSTANDING!. She was so helpful w/ many of our questions whether giving us directions for local restaurants or providing us w/ an upgrade in our room - which we took advantage of on the last night of our stay! The rooms on the 16th floor were fantastic and grand. They were quiet, allowing us to really SLEEP & wake up refreshed. I definitely would stay here again. OH, it's right in the heart of downtown, thus one can walk anywhere from the hotel.
No problems with reservation. Location was superb. Concierge was delightful.
Difficult to find in the dark. We found the room a bit small and not quite enough room in the bathroom. The water and/or the plumbing had an off-putting smell.
Good location, clean, quiet, air conditioned, restaurant attached, computer in lobby to print your boarding pass.
nice decoration, nice ambiance, good room, was standard double
very noisy airconditioning, should really be improved
Very nice hotel in a great location
My room was very small for the price
The InterContinental Stephen F. Austin originated in 1924 as the first high-rise building in downtown Austin. Due to its proximity to the business and entertainment district and the state Capitol, corporate travelers and Texan politicians are often seen at the hotel and restaurant.
Intercontinental Stephen F Austin is located downtown along the main Congress Avenue. It sits beside the historic Paramount Theatre and is three blocks from Austin’s Capitol building. Just one block north of Sixth Street, guests are close to an array of famous bars, music venues, and eateries. The Austin Convention Center is a 15-minute walk, The University of Texas at Austin’s main campus is a short ride away, and South Congress Avenue is also just a short drive from the hotel.
The 189 rooms of InterContinental Stephen F. Austin were renovated with an old-Texas design in 2013. They vary in size and are comfortably outfitted with great beds, Keurig machines, and flat-screen TVs. The rooms are convenient but it’s the on-site dining offerings such as Roaring Fork that is one of the best-rated places to eat in the city. Additionally, the hotel's bar is where many state's legislators meet. Other amenities include a gym, indoor lap pool, hot tub, business center, and meeting rooms.
Rich history, luxury accommodations, and close proximities make Intercontinental Stephen F Austin a unique hotel experience. Downtown Austin is a large business-friendly area and location for enterprise headquarters and the state Capitol. The hotel caters to travelers through many amenities and accommodations.
