Great destination / golf hotel in Ayrshire, Scotland
Exceptional (golf) hotel, excellent standards, yet relaxed. Perfect golf course, good restaurants and spa; plenty of activities.
It is about a 40 pound taxi ride from Ayr railway station - though this is also a positive as the remoteness was welcome.
Great place to relax and enjoy the fantastic views
Price, price, price
The food was excellent. The staff very friendly, particularly Alan Cree made the stay perfect. During breakfast (which was awesome) he always had the best recommendations how to spend the day, what to see, where to go... He is the heart and soul of the hotel!
The spa should be closed for children at a specific time (5 P.M.) in order to give other guests the chance to calm down.
Fantastic food, service and the most comfortable bed ever !
All the staff were welcoming and courteous. This factor, combined with the high standard of amenities, created a relaxing and memorable stay.
The bath was elegant but inpractical! (The hotel was made aware of this)
The location... we had a room overlooking the golf course and the sea beyond. Stunning.
Very expensive but that is expected at places like this (e.g Glass of diet coke and soda water and lime = £6.50)
Although we weren't able to make full use of the facilities, we really enjoyed our stay
Quiet getaway: great bathtub: great shower: nice bed: enjoyed complimentry tea coffee: breakfast was wonderful
Actually bookin.com messed up the weekend for me as they let me book Sunday Monday and I made plans accordingly. But had to curtail and scramble because Monday was not available.
The staff in general are delightful
We had no heating in the bathroom and the heating in the bedroom did not work. I mentioned this on checking out and barely received an apology. This was the one member of staff I did not like.
Classic location, great facilities, wonderful golf on all courses, fabulous hotel. Renovations are good but it is expensive, but you need to pay for quality.
Expensive and room recently done up, but tatty round the edges and very dusty

The hotel offers several signature treatments. One of these, the "Ailsa Craig", is inspired by the volcanic island of the same name and kicks off with a Hebridean salt scrub before leading into a full body massage that employs volcanic stones. ESPA is another one of their day-spa packages, lasting up to 3h and starting with a personal consultation to address any issues and needs.
Boasting two 18-hole courses as well as a 9-hole course, the Trump Turnberry is well equipped for golf enthusiasts. Their world-renowned Ailsa course challenges with special fairways and is one of the most talked-about golf courses in the UK and worldwide. The King Robert the Bruce course offers views of the nearby castle and lighthouse. If you are short on equipment, the onsite pro shop sells apparel and equipment for your convenience.
The most iconic restaurant on the hotel premises is the 1906. Employing local providers and using homegrown ingredients, the restaurant has been serving fine Scottish cuisine for over a century. Seafood, fish, and haute cuisine delicacies like tartare and foie gras share the menu with hearty treats like steak. Light bites after a golf round can also be enjoyed in the illustrious Lighthouse Halfway House restaurant, which fuses modern cuisine in a historic setting.
Weddings, meetings, and team building sessions can take place in the elaborate on-site meeting facilities. Boasting European-style interior and crystal chandeliers, the Donald J. Trump ballroom is a lavish location for festive banquets and weddings for up to 500 people. For 200 people and with a little less lavish interior, there's the Caledonian Ballroom, while the Crystal Room provides a spectacular setting with huge arched windows. Meanwhile, the Trump Boardroom offers a sophisticated interior, massive wood furniture, and crystal chandeliers.
With the Couple’s Escape deal, you and your lover can dash off to Scotland for a memorable experience.
