Comfortable bed. Older hotel with older fixtures. Linens clean. Room, mediocre cleanliness. Rate is dirt cheapest for Boulder-for a reason. $110 budget rate for a room overnight will inevitably buy you an interesting experience here, where the stairwells smell like a meth lab, NO JOKE, I was totally unable to use the stairwells because of the toxic chemical smell. I literally couldn’t breathe. the elevators always reek of weed. In the past when I have stayed here, despite the fact that they prohibit smoking, the hallways always smell like pot smoke and cigarette smoke. This time the halls smell like a soup kitchen. In the past it appeared that they had long-term tenants staying here. This hotel is right next to campus dorm housing and campus nightlife — so it is never quiet. The reason I keep coming back and putting up with quirks and noise level because I absolutely love the friendly, welcoming, boulder - typical front desk staff. UNTIL THIS TIME. This hotel seems to have had a change of staffing. Front desk clerk could not make eye contact with me and was the most inhospitable employee I have ever dealt with in the service industry. He appears to be a total tweaker. Twitching, staring into space, unable to extend courtesy. This morning when I went down for coffee he was still up and cranking some very inappropriate music loudly in the front lobby. I’ve stayed here a dozen times, begrudgingly coughing up the ridiculous $100+ rate, but due to serious staff rudeness, i sure won’t be back.

Decided to find lodging elsewhere
This hotel was upon appearance decent, the lobby is beautifully adorned with the original ornate wood, etc.
We had to change rooms because of the smell. The first room we had smelled like chemicals, I assume from air freshener. The second room reeked of dirty diapers and smelled even worse when we turned on the fan. We decided to find a different hotel. We are asking for our money back.

The former Broker Inn is a good value for Boulder
It is an older hotel and they are refurbishing the entire hotel over time, so there are many things in individual rooms that look tired. Overall though, the beds are comfortable and clean. If you don't plan to spend your vacation in the room, it's a deal.
