I was in need of a vehicle on a short term notice. My daughter in law had been in an accident and totaled her truck while driving from Tennessee to New England. My small Toyota Camry just did not have enough cargo space to handle all of her stuff. So, I used my computer to search for a SUV to rent and Kayak presented a good deal on a Mazda CX-5. This was late on a Sunday night. I booked the CX-5, printed out my receipt and hoped all would go well in the morning. I used to deal with Enterprise but, the last time I did it was a horrible experience and now, that office is closed so, I must not have been the only one who had trouble with them. I had considered going with Enterprise again but, the price from Avis and my last experience with Enterprise was enough for me to make the change. This is the first time I have ever used Avis. The experience was fantastic! If this is how well everyone is treated then they have a life long client. Not that I rent vehicles very often but, when I do need one they will be my first choice from now on. In addition, this is also the first time I have ever booked such a service online and everything went surprisingly well. The agent on duty was having a very busy day but, regardless, was extremely cordial, bright and cheery. She had her hands full but, never let it get to her. A top notch professional if ever there was one. Due to the large amount of vehicles that had been dumped on her the night before, the SUV that we had selected was not yet ready. Instead of the Mazda CX-5 were offered a Toyota 4Runner instead and at the same price. That was a no brain decision! The Toyota 4Runner is one of the best utility vehicles ever made! Yeah Baby! That 2020 4Runner was comfortable and solid. It handled very well when we drove into snow and ice storms. Our plans were for me to drive one way and my son would drive us back because we thought I would be worn out. Not a chance! I drove both ways from Vermont to New Jersey and back with no fatigue or stress whatsoever! In addition, the 4Runner was surprisingly fuel efficient. At least, for that kind of vehicle. We used just over 1-1/4 tank of fuel which gave us an total mileage of 21 - 22 mpg. I digress. Upon our return the agent was once more busy but just as friendly and cheerful as before. The return process was just as simple and smooth as the outgoing procedure. This made the overall experience a pleasant one. After all, just how often does one consider renting a vehicle on short notice to be a pleasant experience, anyway? It was this time. Avis has definitely hit a home run with this team and this vehicle. I submit that the Avis office in West Lebanon, NH be give a five star billing! They were fantastic! I cannot thank them enough for making this trip a total success.

Staff at Lebanon was friendly. There was no attendant at return location in Dulles Airport (Sterling). I had to go to Avis counter to return the keys.Car was not clean. It smelled of cheap odor covering spray. Not pleasant.

Very Easy Process!This was my first time ever renting a car, so I was a little nervous, but Avis was such a great company to go with! The whole process was very easy, I spent no more than 10 minutes picking up my car and even less time dropping it off in the city I traveled to. Thanks Avis!The only issue I had was that my credit card expiration date was entered incorrectly, and I had to call to correct this issue the following week. It took about 20 minutes over the phone to get it resolved but everything else went great!

Came to pick up the car I'd reserved...and told no cars availableI showed up at the time of my reservation only to be told there was no car available within a 100-mile radius. When I called customer service (the guy at the desk was apologetic, but he could do nothing), the conversation was Kafkaesque. They suggested that I take a taxi to another location with a car two hours away (and two hours farther from my final destination) - as if I had all the time in the world to drive around the country making up for their mistake. (Another couple, that had reserved a car to drive to Boston, was told they could pick up a car in Boston.) They refused to guarantee me a car locally the next morning or offer any financial compensation. As if they were being extremely generous, they did offer to cancel the reservation! Luckily, another local company had a car - but I'm never using Avis again.
