Pros: The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were very clean. The staff were all pleasant, professional and very helpful. The hotel is in a great location. It's a very short walk to great restaurants, shopping and Petco Park. I would definately stay here again.
Cons: Parking at the hotel was very expensive ($47 per day). The rooms were a little small for the cost of them and it would have been nice if there was a mini-fridge in them. There is also no "sundries" store, so if you want a drink or a snack there is no where to get that. We also called for room service and no one answered the phone.

Pros: The room is very nice and modern. The front desk staff were very nice. The shampoo and conditioner they provide smell amazing. And the fitness center was very nice.
Cons: The glass shower in the middle of the room is just plain weird. There are not a lot of people I want to see shower. It just feels intimate in a very out-of-place kind of way. My friend and I went out for the evening and came back for an nightcap at the bar. Much to our disappointment, they did 'last call' early, so we missed out on a final drink. It feels like a new hotel needs to create some consistency if it hopes to catch on. The hotel seems very focused on the pool and making the 'pool scene' a thing. The cabanas, the artfully arranged pillows, the champagne buckets. It felt like they were trying too hard to woo locals, as opposed to cater to hotel guests. And there were a lot of staff standing around talking to each other whenever I was in the lobby or at the front desk. I often felt like I, as the guest, was interrupting their work. :)

Cons: The only problem we had was with valet that we told the front desk and they forgot to tell the valet guys and 45 minutes later waiting for the car we approached the guys at the valet and they had no idea that we were waiting for the car. But it wasn’t their fault. They were very nice.

Pros: Really nice place to stay. European feel, all hotels very expensive in San Diego on weekends. Very comfortable beds, nice shower products. Loved being able to use bucycles. My room should bave darker, was told upon checout that there were privacy blinds that I never saw.

Pros: I loved how helpful the staff was. The interior design is very modern and gives you the home feeling of comforability. I would definitely pick this hotel if I were to come to San Diego again.
Cons: I was running a half marathon and had to pick up my car at 4am from valet and they took a little while to answer the phone. So that was a bit of an inconvenience.

Pros: Love the dog-friendliness! And so did our pug! Very quiet in spite of being downtown. Very comfortable bed - my husband who doesn’t sleep well when we’re not home said it was the best hotel sleep he’s ever had! With a new baby it’s hard for us to get going in the morning, so it was nice to have the continental breakfast - and the muffins were delicious! Also, it was really cool that there were bikes available to ride around downtown - not an option for us with our 2 month old in tow. If we were staying longer, we might have taken advantage of the available pup package, too.
Cons: Only thing I wished we had was a bath tub! We don’t have a tub at home, so I was hoping to take a bath during our stay. We were in a regular room, so I’m not sure if a suite or one of the nicer rooms might have a tub.

Pros: I liked the theme of the hotel. The hotel is located in the gaslamp district which was excellent. The bed was really comfortable and they even give you individual comforters which I loved.
Cons: I didn't like the location of our room we were on the fridt floor next the the elevators and every person that was leaving the hotel with their luggage had to go by our room.

Pros: We stayed here in the Gaslamp Quarter for one night because my boyfriend and I had a global entry interview in SD and decided to make a night of it. Upon check in the woman at the counter was very bubbly and helpful! She offered up cupcakes and coffee which they serve in their lobby daily. They also have a cute little coffee place in the corner. Everything is really colorful and bright with touches of pineapple decor throughout. They had yellow bikes in the front of the hotel by the valet ($38/night) that I believe they let you borrow for free- I could be wrong. We parked around the corner in the parking structure on Market and 6th. It’s $15 a day and then I think $1.25 an hour after that. The room didn’t have a great view but the bed was extraordinarily comfortable! Modern rooms and bathrooms. GREAT location. Cute sports bar right next door if you like the divey feel which being from Long Beach, we do. There are a ton of restaurants and bars all at your fingertips here. You really are in the heart of the action! We will most definitely stay here again.

Pros: The decor was amazing throughout the hotel. The foyer/lobby was stunning along with the rooms. We stayed in the Harbor Tower on the 23rd floor. The view was spectacular. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The only problem we had was with our TV to where we couldn't order movies one night. The night manager gave us a $100 credit which was very satisfactory. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: The hotel motif is very modern. Clean and simple lines. Really liked the gym. Very well equipped and fairly clean. The people who use the equipment seem to be cleaning after themselves. I liked the cafe downstairs as they had what I would eat on my special diet. I booked a room with a view and we had a view of the bridge and the boat harbor. The hotel next door had major renovation so we entertained ourselves watching the workers walk around and move stuff around with equipment.
Cons: I know CA has water shortage but the sink water pressure was ridiculously low. So much so that the water temp would not reach warm. I ended up using the shower for brushing my teeth. The garage does not accomedate large cars which made it difficult to park the Suburban, not XL just normal size. There are some spots but the compact cars park there and 90% of the parking spots are really compact. The stairs in the parking structure need to be cleaned and aired out they have an intense urine smell. We like to take the stairs but kept with the elevator for that reason.

Great proximity to the convention center. Staff was accommodating. Concierge and valet staff were very knowledgeable on good places to eat/see in San Diego and other surrounding vicinities such as La Jolla, Coronado, etc. Also, got a little discount on zoo tickets by purchasing them at the hotel.
Cons: Valet parking is a little steep. They charge $40.00/day. I agree they should charge for the service as its quicker and easier for someone to park your car and bring it to you, but $40.00/day is a little high. On the upside, you can use it as much as you want.

Complete mayhem in the understanding of the services due to poor management, Often times we would have to go look for a server to get a drink at the lounge area.

Pros: The historic hotel was clean and the staff was courteous. Rooms were a fair size and had all the amenities that I would want in a luxury hotel. The lobby was comfortable for getting caught up on email (and had a great cup of coffee in the morning). As mentioned in the title, I have never had such a comfortable bed and wish I could take it home with me.
Cons: The hotel cannot control this, but the area is filled with homeless and panhandlers that made it uncomfortable to walk to the Gaslamp district or Midway museum (it's worse on 4th Street). Next time we will likely stay close to the waterfront where the problem seems to be lessened.

Cons: On the first morning of our stay, the housekeeping supervisor with her clipboard came banging at our door at 8am. She didn't stop until we jolted out of a deep sleep to answer the door. When we came to the door she pretended not to speak English. The parking is $35/day. There is no fridge in the room. The duvets had stains and smelt bad.

Pros: Kimpton's are consistently good. I felt this was more a businessman hotel which is quite different from other Kimpton's I've stayed at. Most of them have a hip vibe which for us old folks is fun and energizing. Our stay was short but pleasant and the staff was nice. I really have no complaints. Everything was clean and the quality of the amenities were good. Like a lot of hotels they have gone bare bones in the toiletries everything is liquid and pre stocked. As a woman though i find that like other hotels I miss things like a Shower cap and some of the other little things that used to be provided. Hard to imagine that would be big in the cost cutting department. Overall tho none of this would stop me from staying at another Kimpton.

Our room was lovely and the turn down service was appreciated - especially the music playing and the low lighting when we returned in the evening. I agree the C street side of building a bit noisy, but would not deter me from staying there again when we are in San Diego. The valet was very prompt to deliver our car and 2 young men helped us with our luggage. We had room service breakfast.. Very, very good...Thank you for a lovely stay...

He gave us great recommendations for restaurants and other activities in the hotel and the surrounding area. Housekeeping was outstanding, with turndown, chocolates, And room set up with lighting and mood music upon return at the end of our days out. Concierge was very helpful with information and ticketing for tours. Great pool area on third story patio deck. One of the best hotel experiences we have had! We recommend it highly.

Cons: We asked for a room with a view, but our view was terrible. We were very disappointed with this. The room was also much, much smaller than I would've expected. I've stayed in tons of hotels and have never had a room so tiny. The shower looked cool in theory but in reality because there was no door, water leaked out onto the floor. The bathroom door, too- cool in theory, but if you value your privacy, it's not for you- it slides shut but doesn't actually close, so you won't have total privacy in there. Valet is $40 a night. Attached restaurant (Saltbox) had decent food but VERY slow service. Overall, not a bad place to stay, but we found that what we experienced definitely did NOT warrant the price tag that accompanies a stay at this hotel. Next time we visit, we will be staying elsewhere.

Also enjoyed: the Apartment style hominess was comforting and the boutique style added some flare. Nice that pool was heated, cable TV, good location for downtown. I would visit again.

Just a word of warning, if you have a knock at the door and someone is in the shower be sure to pull the door closed because you can see straight into the shower from the entryway. That is poor planning and inexperience. I would not stay here again nor recommend to anyone.

Iron was awful - took way too long and was just cheap overall or needed replacing. Cleanliness was awkward - arrived at the hotel (6pm) and was told our room needs to be cleaned. We arrived in the room, saw the hardwood floors were soaking wet (slipping lawsuit anyone?) and found residual items from the previous guests. Would be nice to upgrade those 2003 radios to the new iphone 5 or usb players...

Pros: Booked a room, had a reservaton number, was very impressed with the appearance of the building, and then I got to check in...they found my reservation which was with a group of friends and all of our rooms were next to each other. Then I was told that at due to construction, they didn't have my room and could send me to their sister location, the us grant (not my style). All of my friends, even the ones who checked in after me got their rooms, right next to each other. I was sent a block away with my reservation and a $70 increase in price for a room that didn't even have the requested layout and then wanted to charge me for Internet in my room. The hotel loomed nice but this experience was not acceptable. Think twice before booking.

Cons: Many user experience design issues. Rain shower is hard to wash hair in, no ability to angle it at all. No tub and nothing to prop up for to shave legs. No door on shower. Door on bathroom was not a real door and didn't close all the way. Awkward! Certainly not romantic!! Not enough hooks to hang towels. Not enough towels, only gave us 3 for two people. Hairdryer was super cheap, would expect at least a normal one if not a nice one. Nowhere to plug in anything at the desk. Front desk staff seemed very forced/rushed.

Pros: Our room was a decent size and clean. The bathroom is also a good size with a nice rainfall showerhead. Room service prices were reasonable. Pet-friendly room that came with a dog bed and bowls. Complimentary wine hour in the evenings and coffee in the AM.
Cons: We ordered room service a several times during our stay and every order always came missing something and/or would have a wrong item and it would take a while to correct the order. TV is small. No designated pet area. In a seedy part of downtown.

Pros: Front desk staff and valets were great. They greeted me every time and asked if I needed anything. Offered suggestions for entertainment as soon as i arrived . Rooms were spotless! I travel often and by far one of the cleanest rooms I've visited. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here I will recommend this hotel to others.
Cons: Although the valet staff is great; $45 dollars is a bit steep. Would probably park elsewhere next time.

Was the day after St. party's but not impressed for a 400 dollar room. Room was okay, again the details though, little crevacies around light switches dirty, half of tub jets didn't work, seal around shower door partially broken...expect everything to be on point for the price we paid, our experience was a touch off.

Pros: These people really want to be the best hosts they possibly can be and it shows everywhere. Down to the details like the same enthusiasm from every employee every single time they pick up the phone to answer a request/inquiry. My favorite breakfast of any hotel ever is at the Renaissance in Long Beach. The eggs are milky and not dry and the sausage patties are juicy and not stiff same with bacon. While the drinks served aren't as good the meat and potatoes of the beeakfast items are close to it in quality which is remarkable and commendable. Overall in most respects this people will do right by you and I don't think you can best their customer service. Or attempt thereof. Customer service value for money = crazy good.
Cons: Bathroom smelled of humidity/mold... A criminal offense to guests as far as I'm concerned. Doors locked everywhere... except for one that is suspiciously left half open in the back of the building next to Rubios.

Pros: Compared to other hotels we have stayed at, my wife said she got a good night's sleep here. She likes this hotel better then the Homewood Suites in Mission Valley. She also liked the breakfast which begins at 6:30am, ideal for the business traveler. This hotel is close to the freeway with spacious free parking. We stopped here on the way to Mexico. Although we didn't eat or shop at them, the hotel is near a 7-11, two Asian restaurants and a Mexican Restaurant, and that would also be ideal for the business traveler as well. The room also had a chair and desk, an ironing board, a steam iron, a microwave, a fridge, and many electric outlets to charge phones and computers. It's wheelchair accessible with elevator.

Cons: Take a tricycle to park because the parking is so small and cramped that you can barely get your car turned down a lane and most everyone has to have a spotter standing outside their car to get the car out of a slot. I could not turn off the bathtub facet, so it ran all four days I was there. The cabinets look like they were bought from IKIA and put together by a chimpanzee since the doors did not fit right and the drawers would not push all the way in. The room was extremely small for a Holiday Inn Express.

Pros: The room was very clean. The staff was very nice. The continental breakfast and eating area was very Nice too. I have never had such a great choice of food to choose from. And it was delicious! The location is centrally located. We will come back here again. Ana and Yadira were very accomadating and explained everything to us about our room and any other issues.
Cons: The only thing that went wrong with our stay was that someone's child pulled the fire alarm in the hotel. The hotel had to be evacuated. All of the guests had to leave their rooms. This hotel has a very good alarm system for fires, and security cameras, so at least they were able to find the culprit who pulled the alarm. The staff explained to me that the fire department did arrive, and the family of the child will face a hefty fine for the disturbance. This was of no fault of the hotel. I was pleased to know that they have everything under control. It did make you feel at ease that they take the safety of their customers very seriously. So kudos to the Holiday Inn for making sure their guests are safe!

Pros: They had a decent breakfast selection. Definitely saved us from having to spend money and eat out for breakfast meals. Our beds and pillows didn't suck so that was nice. Location was good. Super close to the freeway which makes getting around easy. Airport was close too. The beach is about a 10-15 min drive.
Cons: TINY swimming pool. It's nothing like the photo that you see online. Not even close. Poor sound insulation. If you plan on staying there, make sure you get your room on the top floor (3). Otherwise whoever is above you will be sure to wake you up when they start moving around. We saw a cockroach in the hallway right outside of our room. That was disturbing to say the least. We made sure to shake everything out before leaving so we didn't take anything with us. We wouldn't stay there again and wished we would've booked somewhere else.

Pros: I was warmly greeted and every staff member smiled, said hello, and were genuinely kind. it was clean, well kept, and a great stay for my three grandchildren and I. The breakfast was good, although not my idea of healthy food. But the grandkids likedit.
Cons: My only complaint would be that the breakfast was served in styrofoam plates and bowls. It wouldn't be difficult to do more recycling and use paper goods. There was an exorbitant amount of waste.
