Pretty crappy place TBH. Extremely uncomfortable mattress, spots on the sheets, lots of dirt on the floor. Definitely not worth the money.

Pros:I liked the quietness of the room. The continental breakfast was a bonus. i like how close the hotel is to big bear village. It’s in a good location.
Cons:The main issue I had with my stay there was the staff. When we came early asking if we can do an early check in along with asking questions, the staff at the front desk (Howard), was rude to my friend and I. He raised his voice and argued with us. He was disrespectful and unprofessional. Also prior to this, we were waiting about 5 min for him to be off the phone, which we didn’t mind. Then he gave us the attitude. As he was being rude to us, he greeted another couple (same race as him) as they walked through the door. As with us, he did the opposite. We then asked for the manager phone number, he said he was so we asked for the general manager’s. We then called and complained and Bill Ross got back to us and apologized on Howard’s behalf. We didn’t get an apology from Howard. Bill told us we can go back and do an early check in. We went back 2 hrs later and all of a sudden Howard’s attitude changed completely. He pretended he didn’t know us, and was nice. He didn’t apologized which I wasn’t upset about because we deserved one. He checked us in. Bill told us he talked to Howard and tried to explain the situation of why Howard was in a “bad mood.” Still no excuse for his behavior. I don’t feel that the matter was solved as best as it could. It was such a poor and annoying way to start off our first day at big bear because of Howard’s inexcusable behavior towards us, who are the guests. Oh, and one more thing, Bill clarified with us that Howard is not the manager but just an employee. So..Howard lied to us that he was the manager! It was just umbelievable! I was not satisfied with how the situation was handled and honestly I wanted a refund. It was uncomfortable to come back later to check in and see Howard again.

Cons:There was a big gap in the front door where cold air came in. The heater either made the room too hot or too cold. Two of the three drawers in the dresser were screwed shut.

Cons:The heating and air conditioning was really noisy and squeaky. No blackout blinds. Very rude customer in the breakfast room.

Cons:The dirty rooms. Minimal blankets on old cheap mattresses. The heater was working, but in poor shape. The nasty pool and drained hot tub. The huge pothole as you drive out. The extremely rude, aggressive, nosey and disrespectful manager.

Cons:The front desk worker made fun of me for being in the military when we checked in. The parking lot is incredibly dangerous - they do not maintain the parking lot in the snow and our car was hit overnight; when I mentioned it to the front desk, I was told to wait (which turned out to be about 30 minutes) then told that it's "not our fault and you can't sue us" when I had simply said it has been hit and asked what to do. Took about thirty minutes to an hour to check in and to check out due to delivery trucks constantly blocking the only way in or out (except for the path that was blocked by 2-3 feet of snow and ice that we were told to use by someone at the front desk). The roof also leaks and has visible water damage.
