Summary of reviews

Guests say
Guests consistently praised the hotel's excellent central location, making it convenient for exploring the city and accessing nearby attractions. Many reviewers highlighted the friendly and accommodating staff, as well as comfortable beds and a charming historic atmosphere. However, several guests noted that the bathrooms were small, outdated, or in need of renovation, and cleanliness was sometimes inconsistent. Despite these drawbacks, the overall experience was positive, especially for those valuing location and service.

Was put in a room with 2 twin beds. I don’t remember selecting that option and when I went to check my reservation details, I never received the kayak log in code that I repeatedly sent to my email and my phone. Front desk couldn’t change our room. The restaurant was great though and there’s a Starbucks downstairs. Very convenient location.

Location was good. Woke up on first morning to significant dried blood on the sheets--not mine or my wife's. Hotel essentially shrugged.

Historic charm. Lovely room with two double beds on 7th floor with great view of Charleston. Very small bath. Friendly, helpful staff. Great location. Easy drop off/pick up luggage, valet parking available. We self parked at nearby garage, $18 per day. Free shuttles run every 15 minutes and can take you to Broad Street/Market areas.

The Francis Marion is an elegant old hotel. The furnishing are a little dated but clean and the room was very quiet and comfortable. The bathroom is very small but we left our toiletries on the large table in the bedroom and it worked out fine. Location is excellent and Charleston is beautiful. We walked a block away to La Patissiere for coffee and pastry every morning. I would stay there again.

Pros (+) Staff was amazing and very helpful. The on-site restaurant has wonderful breakfast!
Cons (-) Broken closet door in entry hall would swing into the path of the room door. There didn’t appear to be a vent in the bathroom. The 2 person elevator policy does not work when you’re at 100% capacity and it is busy.
