Best Western Macrander Hotel Dresden

The location is very close to Public Transport which is excellent and meant that we could be in the city centre within minutes.

None whatsoever.

The room was very big and spacious. The bathroom was huge and had a wonderful big bathtub. I could order lots of food at 3am after a concert when I was starving. The front desk girls were so helpful and friendly. I would completely stay there again. It was only a 10 minute tram ride to the main old gorgeous city and a 17 minute ride to the main train station.

The hotel was a little off the main street and took 5 minutes to walk to but really..it's such a minor inconvenience.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Macrander, we had a room on the top floor facing the park across the road. The room was a reasonable size, clean and had most of the things you would expect from a 4* hotel. The plasma tv was a decent size but the signal not great and the only channels in English were Eurosport, BBC World and something called Premier Film English which showed films in English in the evening and in German during the day.

The breakfast was far too expensive so we didn't have it. The hotel is right on the edge of a very bohemian part of Dresden and there is some kind of derelict/squatted building just over the road in the park. There is a street festival every year on the last weekend in August in the immediate vicinity of the hotel and the squat in the park sets up a huge sound system which blasts out deep bass dance music and death metal at a ridiculous volume from 12pm to 1 am Fri/Sat and most of Sunday. We had family staying in other parts of the hotel, there is no room in the hotel unaffected because of the deep bass constantly pumping out.
