The local crown out front that pick pocketed me my last stay. You need security out front.
Staff handled challenging situation with grace
When I was checking in it was midnight. There was a young woman beside me who was 1/2 dressed and obviously very intoxicated. She had lost her phone... was a mess. She was insisting her boyfriend was in the hotel and she needed a key. The staff couldn't find his name on their register (very likely she was at the wrong hotel!!) but they gave her an old shift from lost and found and were unfailingly polite and kind even though she was rude and crying and screaming. And apologized like crazy to me when they sent her on her way... but not their fault at all! Great when staff are nice to me when I am polite - amazing to watch them be patient and sweet to someone who was awful!!
Not Same Quality as Sutton Place in Vancouver
See Cons, as there was more than there was Pros. However, I should give my compliments to the reception and housekeeping staff, who were friendly and accommodating. I left my watch in the first room we were given (immediately switched), and housekeeping did report this, and it was quickly returned to me at reception when I noticed.
I chose the Sutton Place in Edmonton based on a good experience at their location in Vancouver, which is a nice hotel. The Edmonton property is just not of the same caliber by a mile. The problems started on arrival: parking is not obvious, and no valet was present for directions (it was admittedly Sunday night). The parkade elevator was broken, and stairwell lock, so we ended up exiting through the back into a garbage filled alley. The first room we got had a very loud/on-the-verge of breaking heating fan, so I immediately requested a change of room (which was granted). The amenities are less than Sutton in Vancouver - the mini bar was empty (not stocked - I had been hoping to get some $10 chocolate on the company's dime), the wallpaper in the bathroom old and dirty (fan didn't work). The Television did not carry Sportsnet West, which forced us to go down to the lobby late at night to watch the Flames (lose unfortunately) in the playoffs. The elevators are old, the buttons don't work properly and when you arrive on the ground floor the movement of the lift is gut-wrenching. The hotel restaurant - Chop - is nicely appointed however has a relatively limited menu which we struggled with, as it was dominated by steak. Although admittedly a steakhouse, a hotel restaurant needs more options.
Excellent and knowledgable staff, friendly and courteous at all times.
The total luxury of the room was excellent
We enjoyed the fact that we had such a short distance to shopping in eaton center. Thanks.
We got an excellent price.
The price for parking was outrageous at $26 per night. We were not told there was a lot across the street where you could park for $3 a day. The bathroom was not very clean.
The staff was wonderful
Hotel is close to restaurants, malls and clubs. The room was affordable but the quality is excellent!
I did not find slippers in our room. I booked the hotel room for 2 people, 2 bathrobes would be appreciated.
It is a convenient location. You can get to many places and hardly have to go outside.
Comfort and location
Great location for business travellers, close to Chinatown, upscale,
Parking fee of $23 per night, (that's if you are renting a vehicle), typical restaurant prices so we ate elsewhere
Were only stayed there for a few hours but really liked the location, service and price
