The only good thing about this experience was how close it was to the Interstate to leave. You pay for what you get.
Cleanliness. This room was advertised as "non-smoking" however, as soon as you stepped into the room, it smelled like someone smoked 5 packs a day for 20 years in there. Everything smelled bad. The bathroom paint was falling into the tub, holes in the walls of the room and bathroom and he room walls were stained yellow along with stains on the floor, and fixtures were broken. The best part was leaving.
Too Much Information Demanded
I had misplaced my wallet and despite the fact that my room was paid for in advance through the website and I offered my auto registration as ID they would not let me check in without a drivers license. I had just finished driving 14 hours, I was tired and just wanted to get into my room and go to sleep. I regarded this as dishonest because the website accepted my payment but when I got to the door the requirements changed. Businesses do not seem to understand that they are the primary source of identity theft because they collect all of this unnecessary information on their customers -- and then they lose a million or three customer records with complete names, social security & driver's license numbers, birthdates, and other information. It's a dishonest way to do business plain and simple. I'm getting to the point I'd rather sleep in my car than continue to subsidize a dishonest practice.
Our room was aweful!!! The smell was so bad I went out and bought a bottle of febreze. It didn't touch it. Stains and patches on walls, ceiling and carpet. It obviously had a roof cave in, there was a huge patch and all of the floors heaves so much you could see a 1" gap throughout. Shower was broken, towels were dirty and had void on one of them. Told the desk person when I checked out and he apologized and gave me $10 back. I guess when you pay $60 for a night, don't expect it to be luxury, just liveable.
