Pros:5 of 5 starsReviewed 1 week ago Our trip in Istanbul was for 6 days, and the idea was to find a hotel with an outdoor pool, to be able to get away from the hustle & bustle and chill out every once in a while. I’ve found that most hotels with pool have indoor pools and Hamam's....which is nice… of course... but in the summer heat, an outdoor pool is more what we need... Some of the high end expensive Hotels seem to have it but we didn't want to spend hundreds of $$$ per night... Anyway, I’ve found and booked the Marmara Pera and wasn't totally sure what to expect. Here our impressions: Perfect location in an upscale neighborhood, 1 minute from the famous walking street Istiklal, between Taksim square and Galata Tower. The building is the tallest on that hill and it gets you the most stunning views without any obstructions whatsoever. We stayed in room 901 and had a fantastic view over the city and river. Best of all was the sunset because the sun would go down right in the center of the window...absolutely beautfiful. The pool on the roof is not big but it doesn't matter because you are overlooking Bosporus river, the old town, the blue mosque, the whole shebang. You can overlook all directions from the Rooftop and again, you are on the tallest building around, so no obstructions. Very friendly & English speaking staff, easy check in Nice Amenities in the room Power outlets that keep charging your devices even when not in the room and key card removed from the main power switch. Our local friend mentioned that the restaurant on the Rooftop is excellent but we never actually ate there. Not sure if the hotel prices were lowered because it happened to be Ramadan or maybe because tourists bought into the terror scare that is rampant ever since 9/11 and stayed away... but we've only paid $80 per night for that room with the sunset view. Btw, there is a metal detector and 24h security at the entrance. I've visited Istanbul before and I think having a view and a central location is really making all the difference. I will come back here and stay in this very hotel. One last thing: download the App called BiTaksi and link it with your credit card. It's like UBER but it's what the locals use over here. I started already at the airport and never waited more than 4 minutes for a Taxi. This way, we’ve never had to hackle for price, got rejected because of the destination, or worse...got scammed when paying in cash... and believe me.... Taxi stories were my worst experience on my previous trips to Istanbul. Love Istanbul, don't get discouraged, help yourself, use technology and Apps to make the most of your trip. Stay open minded, be friendly, stay cool and you will get great things in return.

Pros:I like the location. The hotel is in the city center. Room has a nice view. The most importantly, I like the people who works at the hotel. People are so kind and friendly. I recommend that you listen their advices about where to go to eat and go out. They know the best restaurants and the places..
