Summary of reviews

Guests say
Guests were very pleased with the pool area, describing it as a highlight of their stay, and many also appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms and the friendliness of the staff. However, several guests expressed dissatisfaction with the service, particularly at check-in and in the pool bar area, citing long waits and unhelpful staff. Value for price was also a concern for some, with comments about high costs and unmet expectations. Overall, the hotel offers a fun atmosphere and convenient amenities, but improvements in service and pricing could enhance the guest experience.

Pros (+) Loved almost everything about the Golden Nugget this stay. The staff were always above and beyond in help and attention. The value of the experience was top notch. You can instantly relax once on property. I did not get a change to play golf but overheard a few making very positive comments about the course. Several good restaurant choices but Lake Charles has a number of good places as well. The ...
Cons (-) There is only one complaint I have - the smell. There is a combination of smoke from the Casino and a deodorizer used to mask the scent that is overwhelming to me. Others will find it less so. My wife who has respiratory problems would not make it past the entrance. Unfortunately, there is no escaping it on the main floor. I guess that comes with the territory of a casino but it seems a bit much.

Pros (+) Everything is in walking distance. We don't have to leave the hotel for anything. Love the food!!
Cons (-) We stayed for 3 days and 4 nights. Gambled a little everyday and never won. This has never happened to me before. Anywhere else we've gambled we always won a little something. Disappointed

Pros (+) Customer service was spectacular. Room layout and decor was fabulous Pool area was incredible can't wait to return in the summer
Cons (-) small, petty annoyances but honest feedback nonetheless : toilet paper was CHEAP, an obvious mismatch in quality based on the other fabulous assessories/toiletries The privacy door hanger falls off door EVERY time door closes. Bad design. Our group had 3 rooms next to each other with a lot of room hopping over 3 days. We prefer no housekeeping thus we use privacy tags. Room doors need the swing la...

Pros (+) Casino paid generously on the slots. Free drinks were not watered down. Salt Grass Restaurant was expensive but well worth it. Claim Jumper Restaurant was excellent
Cons (-) Horrible buffet for a $66.00 dinner, and very poor selection. All restaurants are very expensive. Daily resort and pool fees even though we didn't use the pool. Additional fees on my credit card statement related to restaurant. Mattress was extremely soft and not supportive.
