The host was very helpful and took pride in his business.
Noisy toilets when flushed (like Niagra Falls) and some doors squeaked.
The staff were very very helpful and went out of their way to help us with a late departure on our last day. Breakfast could only be describeed as adequate though, somewhat skimped. Would be more than happy to stay there again.
hotel was easy to access;this was lucky since we had no detailed directions . Hotel was simple, clean and comfortable; breakfast was fine though overpriced at 6.50 euros.Easy access to town centre.
Reception was closed on arrival at 16.45,and we were left standing outside till the owner returned. No parking outside the hotel so we had to streetpark a few streets away. Parking at the hotel was according to the owner "complet"
A large piece of carpet on the stairs outside the bedrooms constituted a danger.
The hotel itself is a pleasant building and the rooms were basic but clean. The ensuite shower was very nice.
The welcome at reception was not particularly warm and could have been better. Hellos and goodbyes but very few smiles. The room was a bit stuffy (July) but the window couldn't be left open due to the very noisy street and station outside.
Hotel closed after 10:30 pm. Fortunately I had the good idea to call the hotel around 6 pm saying that we would arrive late. The answer was that if we arrived after 10:30 pm nobody would be there and we would not be able to check-in. This inconvenience obliged us to change our plans and rish to the hotel before 10:30. What is unacceptable is that this restriction was not mentioned anywhere during the booking process and nobody prevented us. Another bad point is that it is one of the worst hotels I have ever been. "Cheap" does not necessarily has to mean ugly furniture and equipment in bad condition (for instance a wc door not working properly). I have been in even cheaper hotels that are much much better than this one.
Good location, and secure parking nearby ( underground )
Breakfast very basic. For the price it was okay.
The man at reception understood our reason for cancellation of booking. The moto GP was on and they had doubled their prices for this time.
After seeing the hotel we did not stay. The room was on the 3rd floor and too diffficult to negotiate. The room was cramped and dingy and the toilet seat was broken
convenient location to tram, rail station, restaurants, cafes; friendly reception at hotel, including allowing us to store luggage; nice old-fashioned atmosphere at hotel; Le Mans is an interesting and friendly town to visit.
A problem I wish to warn others about: Our Booking.Com reservation was for 4 nights, double room at 46 Euros/night. I showed this booking receipt to the reception on arrival. Without comment, they gave us a room with a double AND single bed (which we had not asked for) On checkout I found the price for this room was 56 Euros/night. Showing the original booking was to no avail. Watch out!
I found the hotel very welcoming and friendly. I was checke in with a minimum of fuss.
