The lady at the reception was friendly and helpful, and the room I was given was very clean, spacious and quite charming.The bathroom had an excellent shower. - I was visiting a friend who is gravely ill, and could only stay one night because I had to be in a meeting in Zurich the following morning, catching teh 06.03 train from Locarno to Bellinzona.To my great consternation it was impossibl to find anyone at the reception (or anywhere else) early in the morning, and since there was no locked letter-box, I did not dare leave cash openly about. Nor, of course, could I pay by debit card. So I left the key with a note. I still need to settle my account with the hotel.

I did find it very disconcerting that there was nobody available early in the morning. I cannot be the only guest ever who needed to leave on an early train. What does one do in such circumstances?

We had a very charming attic room with a small balcony looking out over the city, countryside and lake Maggiore. The room was very bright and comfortable. The hotel was an easy walk to the train station and to the lakeside promenade. The breakfasts were a nice mixture of int'l and local cuisine.
