Good and Bad

Very accomdating
When I got to the hotel to check in, they had upgraded us to the Ambassador Hotel instead of the Inn for free! The staff was very nice at the front desk & made sure I was happy.
The overnight parking (the safer option compared to out on the street) costed $10, which isn't terrible, but I strongly feel every hotel should have free parking at their facilities where customers can feel assured their car is safe.
The room was clean. Although the lobby, elevator and common areas had a foul smell.
The beds were very uncomfortable. I think they purchased the least expensive mattress on the market. Every spring was felt. The shower had an area in the ceiling that needed to be repaired. Also, the caulk seal needed to be replaced around the tub.
Dusty, loud, grim
Conveniet-ish location.
Room was dirty. Elevator smelled like pee. Walls are thin. Difficult to navigate if you have luggage.
i'd visit again.
honestly, i think we stayed at the other ambassador across the street. friendly, helpful staff. super comfy bed and pillows. nice shower/tub space. the restaurant area looked nice too. can't say whether or not it could be considered a family hotel...i'd call and check with the hotel. i didn't see or hear any children though.
that there was one switch to control all the lights in the room.
Good location
Friendly staff but a little understaff. Very limited parking area but cheap for the charge, $10 a night. Overall very clean.
Cart for luggage is hard to fit the small elevator. You have to manuever really good for a person and the cart to fit.
I would stay again in the future
Staff was very friendly, eager to help, knowledgable about the area.
Very old, outdated building. Old uncomfortable mattresses. First night mateess reeked of smoke! But they quickly made a room change without hassle when I complained. Noisy neighborhood. I thought it would be a good central location. But ended up not being close to anything and shuttle has limited hours and places it goes., took a cab everywhere. No breakfast. Very limited workout facilities. Overall would not recommend.
The atmosphere was like an adorable 1930's theme. The staff went above and beyond, continuously. They really helped sell the place. I will recommend this place time and time again.
For the price, some updates would be nice. The shower heads and jacuzzi we're both older and a little worn.
Located right down the block from the rave. I could even see the tour busses.
Didn't strike me as a hotel in a mainly residential area so you see peoples back porches, felt intrusive.
Our rooms were clean, had a huge TV we didn't use, and had comfy enough beds. We really appreciated the shuttle service and drivers. They were great!
I booked 4 rooms for our group. When we went to check in we found that one of the rooms had been "upgraded." So, most of stayed in the building across the street and 1 room was in the main building. In the morning we found out that they almost weren't allowed to come to our building to have the continental breakfast.
They have a shuttle that will take you to and from many of the tourist destinations.
the shuttle bus was really good, although I got lost the 1st time catching it on way back, but over all it's pretty good!
the room was a bit old, i was just on my own, so i'd preferred something smaller but maybe more cosier... or a smaller room, didn't cost as much!!
nothing
the hotel
The beds were really comfortable. We liked the HD TV. Location near Marquette University was great.
Continental breakfast was below average. Instant coffee and pastry in a cellephane package.
Good bar and food. very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was better than other ones I have had.
Very convenient to city, with readily available shuttle
two buildings...one is beautiful....one is awful....we got the awful one
one building nice and one terrible...didn't like my building
It was close to the rave and affordable!
Pleasant and clean room, friendly staff, good value for money
Milwaukee is one of the great Midwestern cities and despite its proximity to Chicago, Wisconsin's largest city has staked out its own unique identity. Whether it is as a manufacturing town or as a hub of Wisconsin's gastronomic preferences (it's famous for cheese, brats, and beer), there's much to see in what's called the German Athens of America. Staying in the Ambassador Inn is a great way to connect Milwaukee's past to it's present.
The Ambassador Inn is notable thanks to it's 1920's art deco décor. This is one of the ways the hotel is a throwback to a different time. While a bygone era is evoked in décor, modern amenities are not taken for granted. Guests can count on attentive staff and the most comfortable accommodations. No expense is spared when it comes to taking care of the guests at this hotel, and the staff is keen to help guests with any concerns.
Dining is easy at the hotel. The Fitz is a classic Milwaukee restaurant serving Wisconsin cheese flights along with breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Gin Rickey is a classic lounge serving up some of Milwaukee’s best cocktails, and if you are looking to start your day with a quick bite, the Deco Café is the ideal spot.
The Ambassador Inn offers much to all types of travelers and is a great place to experience the best that Milwaukee offers. With its charming décor, you'll feel transported to a different time but the modern amenities keep you rooted in the 21st century while appreciating the creativity of the past.
