Overview

On the edge of the river Erdre, the Best Western Plus Hotel de la Regate, Nantes, France, makes the most of an exceptional waterside setting close to the Beaujoire stadium and the exhibition centre, an eco-minded hotel woven thoughtfully into its green surroundings. The spacious rooms include adjoining options for those travelling together, and some look out over the Chateau de la Gascherie across the water, with a bar for an evening drink and several restaurants nearby. The riverside calm makes an easy base for business or leisure. Often called one of the most beautiful rivers in France, the Erdre widens here into broad, tree-lined reaches made for rowing and river cruises, with the heart of Nantes, its chateau of the Dukes of Brittany, and the mechanical elephant of the Île de Nantes all a short way off. Out on the water, the light and the willows set a calm, green mood.
