Nicely retouched DEcor, GreatBreakfast (9Euros too much if you eat modestly) and free Parking...there was an ancient printer downstairs and when it finally printed an illegible google map some little computer parts came out with the paper (they wanted .50 Euros per Page)
WIFI was often non-responsive trouble signing on, which had to be done repeatedly (the code changed all the time) we gave up in the end in our two night stay... there was a computer downstairs which helped...no Lift We were in room 14 three floors up...Nothing open in the town had to go to Obernai for shopping...We went to the Winstub de Manoir recommended by the staff, got ill after Escargo or Mushrooms? The cook seems to be a Family member ?????
Comfortable and friendly
The village of Barr was a very pleasant surprise as we chose for its access to Strasbourg. It was quite easy to drive into the Strasbourg 'park and rides' for a visit.
Our room was a family room ( two additional beds, two seater settee, easy chair, and casual table) although we were only a couple. As a result it was a little cluttered for our liking.
This hotel was our second stop of a holiday drive from the UK,through France, Switzerland and Italy. We wanted to stay somewhere different in style each time. We liked the character of the building and furnishing. The owner and staff were very pleasant. A note of advice: if you decide to eat out in Barr we would advise you to avoid Le Brochet restaurant. Admittedly we speak very little French, but up to then we had managed to to make ourselves understood in shops and restaurants. The staff was very unhelpful and the food not up the standard of the pice we paid. In fact that was the worst meal we had out of the 19 days vacation.
Nice, relaxed attitude e.g help yourself tea in the afternoon, free internet access, good breakfast buffet, good location & plenty of parking.
very friendly and charming old manoir that has been lovingly restored and reasonably priced.
Cosy romantic rooms. Excellent secure car parking. The breakfast was excellent, wide choice & good quality.
The rooms do get very warm during the summer.
