Wonderful location, particularly for sunsets, great staff and wonderful outdoor lounge area.
I was given a small room, fit only for an individual, which was ok, but it was really small, their smallest room, I called it a cave room with no room for even a small table and a chair. So, I had a bed and a bathroom/shower but that was it. I wished I had known it was going to be so small.
Fantastic view. Nice rooms, very good breakfast. Will stay again;)
Sometimes the water from the shower is not warm nor strong enough.
The location was absolutely spectacular and the room was exactly what we were hoping for. The cave rooms were traditional, yet they included the modern conveniences in a way that didn't seem out of place. The view from the hotel was a postcard at every turn. The hotel was perfectly located for everything we wanted to do, everything was within walking distance.
We didn't dislike this aspect of the hotel, but I would like to state that the stairways of this type of hotel are difficult to navigate for anyone but the most agile and healthy. Anyone with any type of walking difficulty, including arthritis, would have a difficult time navigating the steps to the rooms and pool.
fantastic view, amazing location
difficult to access hotel from parking, a bit too "rustic", breakfast very basic
Nice views of volcano & harbour
Hard bed, no shower curtain for shower, thin towels. Locals said it is not good value and owner /manager writes the reviews for Trip Advisor.
The location was excellent and watching the sunset view from our balcony was an amazing experience.
The room was over-priced (you definitely pay for the view), but the amenities were no better than any other place we stayed in Greece (most of which we payed 1/7 the price for!). Also, I wish I had been forewarned that this hotel, like many in Oia, requires hiking up and down many, many stone steps. It is not for anyone of questionable fitness or mobility.
We stayed here 10 years ago and realized there are a lot of other options...Oia Mare needs to update their facility and service to keep up with their competition. However, the views are incredible and we loved the location.
I did not like the fact that there was not one drawer to put our belongings in. Amenities in the room were the bare minimum and could be improved.
View is amazing. Staff was not friendly and our room, a cave room was a bit of a dissapointment but you are paying for the view and it is worth it. Regardless of all the negatives, I would probably recommend the hotel due to the view/location but I think expectations should be managed. I would also recommend looking at other similar hotels for the same price point to see if some offer similar views with better service.
Poor service. Booked through booking.com. No one told us to check in at an office management company near the bus stop. Spent a lot of time trying to find hotel and when did, they seemed annoyed that we hadn't previously checked in with the management company. After we started unpacking our stuff, realized that the only light in the bathroom was not working and it took over an 1 hour to have it replaced which delayed our plans for dinner. Decor of the room was underwhelming, box spring of the bed was a piece of plywood, bathroom sink was leaking water onto the floor. When lying by the pool reading, staffer stood next to my lounge chair and talked on her cell phone for over 10 mins. Seemed annoyed when asked for clean plates at breakfast
This hotel has an excellent setting in Oia; well designed and charming. It sits well in the ambience of Oia. A perfect location to see the setting of the sun. The traditional cave houses and the "cave-like" pool too. An unforgettable experience.
Many guest reviews complain about the steps, the climbing to reach this hotel but I think that that is necessary considering the location and the very nature of Oia. I booked a single room and was given the smallest room with no windows, no air-conditioning...the so-called window is wired...hence, very little air...also I felt that they should lower the price for that small room (where the main electricity box is) if the management still consider it decent to rent out. I felt short-changed in some ways. What makes my stay pleasant is the facilities and the excellent staff service.
the view ; the swimming pool .
too expensive for what it was offering
The city of Oia
Definitely not worth the price. Very old looking bathroom. Minimalist breakfast for a 4 stars hotel. Hotel acces is hard : 10 minutes of walk with a lot of stairs (hotel crew can help with the luggages).
The Oia Hotels Oia Mare Villas offers Cave Suites and Studios in Santorini above the old port of Oia. All rooms and suites were renovated in 2014 but retain the style of the island. The rooms overlook the Aegean Sea and provide a superb view of the Oia sunset. Complimentary transfers to the port and airport are provided for each guest.
All of the rooms at Oia Mar Villas have free WiFi and daily maid service. All rooms offer air conditioning and refrigerators are included. There are outdoor pools, breakfast is provided each morning, and the staff is multilingual to accommodate all guests. Each cave-style suite or room has a private terrace or balcony that overlooks the see. Bathrooms contain free toiletries, a hairdryer, and built-in showers. Some rooms also include an outdoor hot tub.
There are many quaint restaurants and taverns in easy walking distance, with the airport and port both less than 20 kilometers from the hotel. The capital of Santorini, Fira, is even closer at 9 kilometers away. Nearby restaurants include Lolita’s Gelato, Fino Cocktail Bar, Oia Vineyard, and Lauda Restaurant, all within six minutes walking distance.
Guests enjoying a romantic vacation can take advantage of the Honeymoon Cave Suite with hot tub which offers a king size bed, mini fridge, kettle, outdoor jacuzzi, safe deposit box, and turn-down service. The two-bedroom cave suite is great for a crowd with enough room for five people traveling together. Every room and suite is unique and offers an aesthetic that reminds you of where you are.
