Splash out and stay in the Mandarin Oriental on Raffles Street. With its central location near the business centre and tourist sights, as well as the views of the bay and city from the rooms and the rooftop swimming pool, it is an ideal location to relax and yet be at the centre of the action. Another luxury option is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, which is well-located for both the casino and the Gardens by the Bay, the nature park in the central region of Singapore.

Orchard Street is one of the most luxurious shopping streets in Singapore and the hotels match the mood. Stay at the Hilton Singapore if you want to spoil yourself, or save your money for shopping and book into the more mid-range Orchard Hotel Singapore at the top end of the shopping street. We suggest placing yourself in the centre of the activity, so consider staying at the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel right next door to Tangs – the oldest department store in Singapore.

For a completely different cultural experience in the same city, think about staying in Chinatown, Singapore’s Chinese centre, where you can buy a variety of delicious foods from hawkers and visit the local shops. Stay in the Parkroyal Collection Pickering, which is within walking distance of the Chinatown Street Market. Alternatively, opt for the Hotel 81 Chinatown, which is very close to the metro stop and a short walk from the Chinatown Heritage Center, where you can walk through some of Singapore’s history in the museum exhibitions.
