You Get What You Pay For
The room was clean and was located on the same floor as the hotel front desk. It was also near the breakfast room. Our room has a pretty decent view of the city and Spadina Avenue more specifically. Being that we were there for a concert at the Horseshoe Tavern, the location was ideal. If you’re going to Toronto to shop down Queen Street, this place is good for that as well.
Being that this place gives off an air of a budget hotel it was no surprise that the parking garage smelled of urine and there was someone sleeping under a stairwell near the elevator. The hotel is in a building that also houses cheap shopping. Crappy stores selling junk from China. The smells that are derived from the Shoppes isn’t pleasant. On the day we left, the elevator wouldn’t fetch us on the third floor of the building. The front desk dude told us, for one of us to go down to the second floor and make the elevator go to the third-floor that way. Nice.
room was cold and heater didn't bring it up to temperature, shower leaked, hair drier shorted out, continental breakfast was poor
Everything is great except for Wifi
This is my go-to hotel for business trips to Toronto. It's affordable but offers clean, comfy rooms and a good breakfast in the morning.
There are persistent wifi problems in the rooms along the back and on the opposite side of the shopping area. It works, but it's very slow and intermittent.
Conveniently located. Parking available for $10/ day
The rooms were clean and the facility as described
Minor issue with the A/C unit. Easily addressed by staff.
Good but not impressive
Rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable.cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful
The "breakfast" was very limited. We were there about 8 o'clock. There was no fruit, no bread for toast.. But that didn't matter as we couldn't see a toaster. There were muffins and bagels. Not impressed with the breakfast. It was very difficult to find how to get in the hotel when you were driving. We did two passes before we saw a small sign indicating the super 8 parking. There were no directions on the hotel web site or on the front on the building. Couldn't stop on the road out front to go in and find out as it is a major no parking road.
Getting in and out was a chore, but overall ok for
It was close to the Air Canada Centre, which is my only reason for being there. McDonald's is just down the street.
Having to pay $20 a day for parking! I understand it's usually $10 a day, but because I was going out and coming back for the concerts, I had to pay double! Should have been included in the room charge!
Convenient to good eating in Chinatown, reasonable cost, and with the excellent public transport - it was fairly easy to get to the convention center.
Lighting in the room could be improved, and the alarm didn't work
Location and price.
Fire alarm went off at 5am (Sunday morning). Seems this isn't that out of the ordinary after reading others reviews.
Worth your buck!
Stayed there this weekend to see the Nutcracker and spend a day at the AGO and ROM. The hotel is in a great spot without killing your bank account. Spadina Ave has character and is fun to explore on your down time. The hotel is clean (although the building may look sketchy haha) and the staff are very nice.
Fire alarm went off at 5AM - that sucked but obviously a rare thing. The water pressure in the shower could have been better but I am just being nit picky.
The only good thing is its location in downtown.
It's not safe here. Anyone can use the elevator which belong to the mall and can go to the hotel rooms at night. Staffs are not helpful. One chinese women staff is rude. This place is served by chinese staffs mostly.
I didn't get her name but the young lady who checked us in on 6/19/15 just before six pm..... was incredible. i had accidentally booked for the following week. She was very helpful in getting us into the hotel and changing the following day to a 2 bedroom. unfortunately she was not there on saturday or sunday. i had asked the night desk clerk her name and he said sandra BUT i'm not too sure of that because he was the weakest part of the trip
when we switched rooms on friday. my buddy forgot his charger in the single bed room. he realized much later.....probable midnight or later, it was when we got back from the concert. my friend went down to ask the guy if something had been turned in from cleaning......the fellow seemed unhelpful in every way and did NOT relay the message to the day crew. even though my friend had asked him to have the cleaner keep an eye out for it. it just shows the wild swing in customer service. luckily the exceptional efforts by the young lady did overcome the guys lack luster service
Closeness to downtown
braekfast not much of a selection
The best thing I liked about the hotel is the cleanliness and continental breakfast. Very shocking from outside of the hotel
The staff, was not friendly and the fact that we have to pay for parking is not great. And on top of that if you wanna come in and out you have to pay more
Good service, clean room. In the meadle of China Town, bus stop very near.
enjoying the chinatown experience
expensive parking. i think if you are going to spend 200 dollars for a room, parking should be included. not a complaint. just an observation. if anything would keep me from staying there again, it would be that.
The hotel is situated in Chinatown downtown and is handy for shops and restaurants, also the buffet breakfast is great, and the jacuzzi was magic!
There was no fridge in this room, but there was in other rooms.
great continental breakfast. Perfect location for Chinatown. Very quiet, clean, close to fun areas in Toronto
Wi-fi was not free
reasonable for the cost overall, given location
english second language should be indicated on net, inform staff on how to inturpret alarms, clean carpets
Finding parging garage was somewhat difficult upon arrival. I called beforehand to inquire about parking arrangements ($ / day) but was not informed that entrance is about 5-6 doors further down street. I found it eventually but it might have been made easier.
Location was very good. You can easily walk to all the major spots in the city. Room was clean and comfortable. Employers are very helpful. Breakfast was healthy and very good. Definely recommend this hotel in downtown Toronto. Would stay there again in my next trip to Toronto.
Very good location. Short walk to main attractions.
