Pros: Hands down, the best hotel I have ever visited. The space is breathtaking. And the light incense and music softly playing throughout the grounds adds to the dreamy atmosphere. We had an amazing time and will remember the amazing staff forever.

Pros: The location, the ambience, the rooms and the food were all great. We were all comfortable and enjoyed the stay, the only complaint (if a true complaint at all) is the service speed. We would sometimes order drinks and would not get it till 15 - 20 minutes afterwards. After that, we would rarely see the waiter.
Cons: Service speed needs a boost. While not horrible to ruin our experience, it could've made it so much better and pleasant.

Pros: Rooftop views are nice. Close to everything (even an active volcano). Cheap price. Electric water heater in shower head. A couple of English cable tv channels. Courtyard decor matches culturally with the locale. Security cameras. Beers for sale.
Cons: Bedsprings really dug into our backs. Towels and bedsheet cleanliness were questionable. Courtyard conversations echoed throughout the motel. Rooftop access limited to 10 pm. Staff did not appear happy to work there. No smoke detectors or fire alarms.

Pros: I loved my stay at Hotel Monasterio. The location couldn't have been better, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. MY room was spacious with 15' ceilings, and each day started with a delicious breakfast in the courtyard.
