There was roaches in my room!
The roaches in my room
The receptionist was very friendly. I asked for toothpaste and she gave me extra, also was clear about all wifi, breakfast, and other ammenities
Hotel is clean, but very run-down. It could use a paint job in most places.
Old and Smelly
The room itself was OK.
I thought I was getting a great deal on a hotel in Austin. Unfortunately, it was not in a nice part of town, heavy traffic and I did not get the feeling that my vehicle, possessions, and persons would be safe. Staff was nice, the young lady at the desk promptly put her headphones back in her ears when she was done with me. I don't know how old the hotel is, but immediately upon walking in we were hit with a humid, foul odor. The hallways of the hotel were hot and humid, as if there was no working air conditioning - for quite some time. The carpet in the hallway is stained, frayed, and coming apart at the seams. The elevator also has no fresh air, and displayed some colorful language graffitied and scratched into the interior. We held our breath in the elevator due to the awful smell. I should have known that the low price would attract the party crowd; we could hear people running and having a good time, after midnight. When I locked up for the night, I noticed that the security bar was so loose, the plate and screws could not be salvaged because their holes were stripped. We stayed the night, and left the next morning, even though my entire paid stay was nonrefundable. Upon checkout, the girl at the front desk said I was "good." I asked her for a final receipt and that's when she said that her computer system was down, and that when it came back up she would email my receipt to me. I never received the email. Like I mentioned before, the room was ok. It was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean as well. If it weren't for the bad smell, we probably would have stayed.
Check-in was easy and location in Austin was central to our activities. I felt like it was a good value. The book lending library is a great idea, and if I'd had young children with me would have been a bigger asset. The breakfast was good, with plenty of variety. The hot foods (eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.) were hot and fresh.
Even though we had a non-smoking room, the room smelled heavily of smoke from others in the hotel smoking. The elevator smelled of marijuana. The eating area was crowded at breakfast and we sat at an 8' table with folding chairs in a poorly lit area next to some boxes, etc. piled up against the wall. Since we did not book directly through the hotel, we were told our room could not be changed when we were given a room that faced the interstate.
The room itself was nice and had a nice little kitchenette
It smelt very strange. Not to the point of being disgusting, but something was not quite right.
Not bad for a older hotel
The bed and comforter where probably the most comfortable I've ever had in a hotel.
Still needs some more work as far as carpet and paint. But over all still a great place for the money
Excellent service and good condition
Great location, we walked to a ojos locos sport cantina and we passed great,... Good breakfast, glean and great service
I didn't have a problem
My stay was great , easy to get around once I found it , it wasn't gps friendly . The girl at the front desk was very rude and hateful when it came time to check out . Hope I don't see her again .
The Lafy / looked Spanish girl at check out the next day . Had a raspy voice . No spence of humor what so ever . Rude and reluctant to help . :(
Good Stay
The hotel was simple and sufficient. I took my wife and 5 month old baby. The hotel worked great for all of us. This was a great value for my money.
Dirty, smelly, in dire need of a renovation

Everything about this hotel was dated, dirty and smelly. Our room smelled so musty when we walked in I can still smell it two days later. There was mold (hope it's not black mold) on the air vents. Wallpaper peeling off walls.
Staff was super nice!
Pool was dirty and soda machine was out of most everything.
Quiet location. Friendly, attentive desk staff.
This is not a three star hotel as advertised. Not only is it badly in need of cosmetic updating, but basic maintenance seems to be lackingas well. The hallways and elevator were hot. The ac units in two out of our three rooms made odd noises loud enough to wake us. The rooms were hot when we arrived because the staff had not turned them on prior to our arrival. Our suite had central air so it took it much longer to cool down. There were several large black burns in the carpet. There was a loose floor tile in the bathroom and the bottom of the bathroom mirror was rusted. The ovehead light in the bathroom was a bare light bulb. The breakfast buffet was acceptable. Gluten - free options included yogurt, pre made oatmeal, hardboiled eggs, and sausage. Overall, our rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The flat screen tvs are very large. It is obvious that this used to be a nice hotel. If you can find a three star hotel for the same price in a good location, I recommend passing on the Country Inn and Suites by Carlson.
