We originally booked a rental with Hertz, and had a nightmare. The vehicle broke down and it took 4 hours for Hertz to come pick up the vehicle and we were told there were no more available. We got online and booked with Alamo, which was more expensive but the transaction was a breeze, and pickup and delivery was fast and simple. The car was extra clean and ran like a dream.I wish we hadn't had to pay twice the rate of the other rental companies.

Clean carNo chance to review pre-existing damage with employee, I documented a paint chipped area myself, but when I returned the car they said I was lying. Now they want to make an insurance claim against me! Poor customer service, I will avoid Alamo/National from now on unless they admit their mistake.

Friendly staff at pick up. Staff saved me money. Drop off was as easy as I could imagine. Car was well maintained, clean, and came with nice features.Not much. Car could have come with iPhone adapter for CarPlay but that would’ve been above and beyond.

Great customer service, but minivan was not in good working order. The windshield wiper sprayer for the front did not work and the small rear most seat did not stow. I added a gallon of Rain X wiper fluid, but still no luck. After reaching my destination I looked more closely and found that the hose from the reservoir to the sprayer was disconnected. It appeared that the connector boot was getting loose so I reconnnected and secured it with a zip tie, added water and works now. For the rear seat, one of the tabs to pull (#3?) was missing. When I got to my destination, I dissassembled the seat where the tab was supposed to be and found it inside. I threaded it through the slot so it was usable again and reassembled the seat.

They tricked at the counter, the attendant never told me I was going to be charged for an upgrade. When I received my final bill by email, I realized they charged me $30 for an "upgrade" that was never delivered or discussed at the counter.AS BAD AS IT COULD BE! The car was in terrible condition, ketchup on the door panel, plus had a disgusting juice spill all around the cupholders. Employees maybe we're waiting for a customer to clean up the car. The car had mirror lever is broken, head console buttons (SOS) where jammed/broken.

I didn’t get the car or help from the staff. Still charged full amount.I scheduled a same day pick up via my phone And the city auto populated to the neighboring city. I didn’t realize this until I went to pick the car up - kiosk guy directed me to customer service line but no one answered x 5. Called again the next day and was told it was too late.

We ended up with a truck, albeit an impractical one, with decent features at a great price. Drop off experience was pleasant.Beware of their dealer’s / manager’s special. They’ll try and give you a diesel vehicle and lie at pickup to convince you to upgrade and/or tack on extras. Worst rental pickup experience I’ve ever had! Go with Fox if you need a low-budget rental.

Not sure if Budget had some Hot Deal or what but literally everyone in the place was in line for Budget. It was ridiculous. Nearly 2 hour wait for Budget while all others had no one in line. Car interior was fine but the windows were filthy.

Upon arrival at the rental car facility in Austin, TX there were no Budget personnel on site. The rental car process was being handled by Avis. The wait for a car was an hour and a half. I missed one of the key aspects of my trip. I completed the rental check in at 3;17 pm, and a person checked the vehicle in at 5;09 pm the following day, although I did not see the check in person before I departed the vehicle. I was charged an additional day for this. The car was returned with the fuel gauge reading full, but my bill indicated the car had 13.2 gallons when picked up and 11.9 gallons upon return. I was charged $23.98 for the fuel, and another $16.99 to put fuel in a full fuel tank. In summary, I was charged $219.65 for one day in a Toyota Corolla by a company called “Budget”. Not very happy. Would you recommend this experience to someone you liked?

Had to wait over an hour to actually get my car. Waiting in a parking garage of gas fumes, humidity and over 90° heat for one hour and five minutes. I actually threw up. I had a reservation but apparently that doesn't mean a car will be ready for you.

I don't blame Budget for this, but Kayak provided me incorrect "final" costs of the rental. There were taxes that should/could have been known, that were not included. Had those fees been included, Kayak would have been the same price as Budget.com. I feel it was a shady move to claim being cheaper when in reality Kayak was not. I will never be purchasing through Kayak again. I was disappointed in Budget that they claimed I did not return vehicle full of gas when I had. More full than I received it. Yet it was indicated I returned it with less than i received it, which is hard to know how they could determine that when the associate never got in the truck to check the gas. I have been a Rapid customer of there for 20+ years and have never had this happen. I will probably only use budget as last resort based on this past trips experience.

When I picked up my car o was charged an additional $80. I noticed it a few hours later when I had to take the car back cause of the maintenance light being on. Not to mention the car was dirty and had the previous customers outdo so belongings still in it. And Budget had the nerve to have a dirty car clause in the contract stating if you brought the cat back dirty, there was a $400 fee when they gave the car to me dirty. I took the car back due to the maintenance light being on but I had to take it to the Budget at the Austin Airport because the location (Barton Creek) that I picked it up from was closed. I explained the situation to the ppl at the Airport, and was told because I picked it up 40 minutes early, I was charged for another day which was BS. No one told me a thing. If I was informed, I would have waited the 50 minutes and came back, I was in the mall anyway. After Waiting in line over 30 minutes, I exchanged the first car and had the same issue with the maintenance lights being on. So I had to get back in line and wait another 40-45 minutes to exchange the second car. I get a third car and it wreaks of string cigarette smoke to the point I began to immediately start coughing and got a headache. Got back in line to inform them of this issue and the lady said she can clean it out to get rid of the smell so I was like ok. She took about another 30 minutes to get the smell out of the car with air fresheners. We left the rental car place and after about an hour into the trip, thr cigarette smell came back stronger than before. Dealing with the multiple exchanges with this car took up valuable time that I did not have. When I returned the car I was charged a total of $160 over what my reservation was for. The owner at the Barton Creek Mall location said he would refund my $160 and send confirmation to my email. I have yet to receive that email

I liked that it was a car that got me from A to B didn't like - front desk person not wearing his mask properly, trying to trick me into buying a toll tag I didn't need. Next I hated all the trash I found in the car and the rear passenger door didn't open from the inside. Would never use kayak or payless again

counter was very understaffed - lines were very long - we wwere moved to 3 different counters and each time othe customers would jump the line - we waited 1.5 hrs to be waited on and then another 45 min in the "express lane" to get our vehicle - the vehicle we rented was not available so we were upgraded which was really nice however the tire pressure was low and they had no way of adding air -we had to take it to a station and fill the tire

It was one of the worst experience I have ever had with rental cars. I have rented so many times and never had to face this issue. Initially I was denied a hatchback car saying its all taken, even though I had booked online. 2: Later the person at the counter says, I need to pay extra for the car. 3: I had to take insurance and when I asked for the insurance copy over the mail, I was told to drive again to airport next day and get the copy which is absolutely a harassment. 4: Finally I was asked to drop off the car during peak hour traffic without giving any extension. 5: Also I ended up paying a lot more than what I intended to pay.

Drop off was easy.Long wait at pick up. They didn’t have the compact SUV and instead suggested I take a pickup truck. I was worried about the size and they assured me it was “small or midsize.” It was giant. I could barely get out of the airport parking lot and it was difficult to park throughout my trip. The back window wouldn’t close.

The worst thing about this branch is how far it is from the airport. An Uber ride was ~$25 and 25 minutes. The best things about this branch is that there was no line and the folks who work there were efficient and friendly.

I thought I had booked a car at the airport, but it turns out I’d booked for a retail location about 20 minutes away from the airport. I asked if I could change the location at the airport and that it would be three times as expensive. Then, when I finally got to the pick-up at the location, I asked if I could change the drop off to the airport since I have a very early morning flight. Initially, I was told I could for $100, but then they said since I’d pre-paid I couldn’t make the change and if I dropped it off there it’d be a $400 unauthorized drop-off charge. Overall, I’m pretty disappointed with how inflexible Hertz’s policies were. I was also told my car was full of gas and I had to return it full, but it was a bit below full when I got it. Despite the location inflexibility, my car was comfortable and pick-up and drop-off, once I got to the right place, were easy.

We booked a standard SUV for pickup 12:00 Saturday at a Hertz office in North Austin. We arrived literally at 12:02 and the office was closed. A sign said they closed at noon. There was a second customer there in the same fix We called Hertz and all they would do is tell us was that the office closed at 12. We knew that. They offered no assistance in finding another vehicle. Someone's software should have flagged the potential conflict between the office hours and the drop off time and alerted us with a text or email. The office staff should have texted us or called us. Most of all, the office staff should have had the decency to stick around for a few minutes past 12. We had to spend the next hour and a half frantically trying to find a comparable vehicle at a comparable price. We will not be using Hertz again.

I had pre-paid my car. Hertz closed early at 4 pm and I wasn’t able to get there by then so I went to pick it up at 8 am when they opened. They had canceled my pre-paid car and had nothing for me to rent . Needless to say the whole experience sucked. Hertz blamed Kayak and Priceline for all the problems. Great partners you have.

Reserved car weeks in advance. Received confirmation of reservation. Received second confirmation the day of the rental. Arrived at rental desk to be told that AVIS had overbooked and there are zero cars available. While we waited for an Uber, I overheard several people receive the same bad news. The desk agent said she had told over 100 people that day "no car is available". It was my assumption that AVIS has the ability to know how many cars they own and how many have been reserved. For the AVIS management to treat their customers and employees this way is completely unacceptable. Their lack of concern for customers caused us transportation problems for the entire weekend. Can you imagine the poor employee that had to take abuse from irate customers for 8-hours. I hope she can find a better job soon. My company and I will avoid AVIS at all cost and I will make sure that everyone who asks hears this story. It's time that business leaders are held responsible for their decisions and stop using Covid as an excuse for everything. AVIS needs to do better or have new leadership. Mr. Ferraro and his team should be embarrassed...but probably are not.

Car wasn’t clean upon pick-up. But I can live with that. What made it such a bad and frightening experience was when I started my road trip the morning after picking up my car. It wasn’t until then when I got on the highway and learned that the car had a controlled speed limit that someone programmed with the Ford feature that I could not override. I wasn’t able to go fast along with the traffic and almost got hit by a truck. After trying to reset the controls, I took the car back. Tried to get a full refund for not being use the car for my trip and was denied.They could make sure their cars actually work properly and are safe.

Car was not cleaned prior to pick up even tho the sticker on the door said it was. Was given the run around when trying to ask for a manager was told to call the 800 number and still after sitting on hold for over 45 mins was told that the manager at the returns desk should have helped me not the phone line. On top of all that charged me extra for keys that were placed on the dash which was told to me by the man doing the return check in. Still trying to reach someone at the rental place but after a day later no response. Will not do business with them again ever.

Had to deal with hertz since it was after 10pm the first time I went for my rental and it was a terrible experience. The woman assisting me was extremely rude and I ended up not getting the rental until the next day. I would not recommend.

Yes, that was all goodThere was a huge line to pick up the car. You had only 1 person at the Hertz counter and several people waiting so it took quite a while. Also, I had to walk a long way with my heavy suit case to where my car was parked.

Customer support was a nightmare. Our flight got canceled early in the morning so we needed to extend the rental car for a full day. We called dollar and the first person told us we can have the car throughout the day without a charge. We called again later and they told us it would be more than double the original price we paid. We called again and suddenly it was half as much. No one would give us a straight answer and we had no visibility into their pricing to make a good decision on what to do.

Everyone at the counter was incredibly accommodating. When I arrived they were slammed, and didn’t have many cars available, so they worked their magic and pulled a car from another service provider. I had no wait time. Everything was seamless. Drop off was a breeze. I’ll admit I don’t travel much, and when I do it’s often stressful... but Dollar made everything super easy.

I was late to pick up my vehicle and they did not give away my car. Everything was as expected. I had a tire lose air and couldn’t find a Gas station with working air station. I returned my rental early in the am so I couldn’t report the low tire to anyone (rental counter not open yet) so that is my only concern. Wished i had an easy way to report my concern with vehicle during after hours. Would definitely rent here again! Austin Texas airport location

Never book thru Priceline! The guy at the desk tried 4 times to rent us a vehicle. Also as a walkup with no Priceline booking. Our name was tied up with Priceline, so in the end, he could not rent us ANY vehicle. Rental computer systems hate 3rd party bookings! Avis has the same problem. Not to mention the "$360" rental turns into $630 real quick after taxes and fees that Priceline does not tell you.

I was promised an economy car rental for $200 but ended up having to spend $400 because they didn't have any economy cars. Then there was some silly "Texas-only" tax I had to pay which was NOT mentioned on the KAYAK site. On top of all that, the car was filthy, and I even found fake press-on nails on the floor. Gross! Never again.

The rental agent at ABAI belabored the point that I did not pay for a guaranteed vehicle and therefore I could not get the car from a low inventory on the fleet being Labor Day weekend. She kept insisting I settle for a compact car instead of the the SUV I had reserved. The process of ruminating on which car I could take took 40 minutes since she had to turf the decision to a non-existent manager. In the end, I got the class of car I reserved for but the agent did not want me to choose (since someone else who paid for their reservation may be behind me). The gas tank was 7/8th full so I had to return to the rental agent to change the gas tank fill information. The car smelled of urine. Perhaps better customer service training for the rental agents will help.

Picking the car up was easy enough and with a shortage of rentals right now, we fortunately got into what we rented. We almost had to downgrade, but we got lucky. Anyway, the real problem is with their billing. We prepaid for them to fill the tank with gas so we didn't have to worry about it at a rate slightly higher than normal gas. Their rate for not prepaying and not filling it up yourself is $8/gal. Guess what they charged us on top of us paying for the prepaid gas, yep, $8/gal. The fuel charge is literally more than the entire rental. It's really not too much to ask is it, to simply get what you pay for, and not try to be scammed into paying more, then being required to call customer support and fight with them about the charges?

Clean car, at least on the inside. Easy return once I figured out where to go.Almost all the signs around the airport and parking garage listed directions toward all of the other rental car companies but did not list EZ Rent-a-Car, and the few ones that did were wrong. No one was at the EZ check-in desk. Scratches on car. Huge upcharges. Old car with no modern conveniences.

Overall Good experience, some confusionThe vehicle itself was excellent! I was given a free upgrade from what I had requested (compact) to a small SUV.Check-in was quite slow and rather confusing. The desk for E-Z was unmanned, and the screen behind the counter kept changing, so I couldn't even find the counter until the name of the company finally appeared. Then, there was a sign with print that was FAR TOO SMALL telling which counter to go to for service. I was third in line, and it was over 20 minutes before I got waited on...

Nice car but it left the lot low on washer fluid.It was a nice car. Staff was friendlyThe Washer fluid was low and so every 10 minutes a bell would chime signaling the fluid was low. Fluid levels should have been checked before the car was put out available to drive. It was extremely annoying to have that chime every 10 minutes. Had to walk a mile to get to the rental building and I am disabled. There should have been a golf cart or some way for people to get to the rental building besides walking. The signs where to return rental cars at the airport were horrible with the construction.

National in Austin went fairly well getting the vehicle. The representative went overboard in trying to get me to upgrade however and when I got to the garage, it didn't appear there were any slightly larger cars available. This left the impression I would have been in the exact same car.

Make sure it’s not a sub-contractorClean, new car in great condition. Drop-off was quick and easy.The rental was not with Europcar as advertised. It was in fact with Advantage rent a car who, I guess, sub-let cars. Pick up was slow (why do I have to provide all my personal details when booking if none of these are forwarded to the rental company??). Also, when I called to try to extend the hire by a few hours, I was quoted a price equivalent of more than a day’s rental.
