This the second time Budget has rented us a car online and when we go to pick up the rental car (with 4 kids) they have no cars available.

Not sure if Budget had some Hot Deal or what but literally everyone in the place was in line for Budget. It was ridiculous. Nearly 2 hour wait for Budget while all others had no one in line. Car interior was fine but the windows were filthy.

Upon arrival at the rental car facility in Austin, TX there were no Budget personnel on site. The rental car process was being handled by Avis. The wait for a car was an hour and a half. I missed one of the key aspects of my trip. I completed the rental check in at 3;17 pm, and a person checked the vehicle in at 5;09 pm the following day, although I did not see the check in person before I departed the vehicle. I was charged an additional day for this. The car was returned with the fuel gauge reading full, but my bill indicated the car had 13.2 gallons when picked up and 11.9 gallons upon return. I was charged $23.98 for the fuel, and another $16.99 to put fuel in a full fuel tank. In summary, I was charged $219.65 for one day in a Toyota Corolla by a company called “Budget”. Not very happy. Would you recommend this experience to someone you liked?

Had to wait over an hour to actually get my car. Waiting in a parking garage of gas fumes, humidity and over 90° heat for one hour and five minutes. I actually threw up. I had a reservation but apparently that doesn't mean a car will be ready for you.

I don't blame Budget for this, but Kayak provided me incorrect "final" costs of the rental. There were taxes that should/could have been known, that were not included. Had those fees been included, Kayak would have been the same price as Budget.com. I feel it was a shady move to claim being cheaper when in reality Kayak was not. I will never be purchasing through Kayak again. I was disappointed in Budget that they claimed I did not return vehicle full of gas when I had. More full than I received it. Yet it was indicated I returned it with less than i received it, which is hard to know how they could determine that when the associate never got in the truck to check the gas. I have been a Rapid customer of there for 20+ years and have never had this happen. I will probably only use budget as last resort based on this past trips experience.

When I picked up my car o was charged an additional $80. I noticed it a few hours later when I had to take the car back cause of the maintenance light being on. Not to mention the car was dirty and had the previous customers outdo so belongings still in it. And Budget had the nerve to have a dirty car clause in the contract stating if you brought the cat back dirty, there was a $400 fee when they gave the car to me dirty. I took the car back due to the maintenance light being on but I had to take it to the Budget at the Austin Airport because the location (Barton Creek) that I picked it up from was closed. I explained the situation to the ppl at the Airport, and was told because I picked it up 40 minutes early, I was charged for another day which was BS. No one told me a thing. If I was informed, I would have waited the 50 minutes and came back, I was in the mall anyway. After Waiting in line over 30 minutes, I exchanged the first car and had the same issue with the maintenance lights being on. So I had to get back in line and wait another 40-45 minutes to exchange the second car. I get a third car and it wreaks of string cigarette smoke to the point I began to immediately start coughing and got a headache. Got back in line to inform them of this issue and the lady said she can clean it out to get rid of the smell so I was like ok. She took about another 30 minutes to get the smell out of the car with air fresheners. We left the rental car place and after about an hour into the trip, thr cigarette smell came back stronger than before. Dealing with the multiple exchanges with this car took up valuable time that I did not have. When I returned the car I was charged a total of $160 over what my reservation was for. The owner at the Barton Creek Mall location said he would refund my $160 and send confirmation to my email. I have yet to receive that email

Staff was fine and drop off was easy.Budget counter was not open, funneled to Avis, very long lines. Such an archaic check in process, this should all be taken care of at booking.
