We originally booked a rental with Hertz, and had a nightmare. The vehicle broke down and it took 4 hours for Hertz to come pick up the vehicle and we were told there were no more available. We got online and booked with Alamo, which was more expensive but the transaction was a breeze, and pickup and delivery was fast and simple. The car was extra clean and ran like a dream.I wish we hadn't had to pay twice the rate of the other rental companies.

Clean carNo chance to review pre-existing damage with employee, I documented a paint chipped area myself, but when I returned the car they said I was lying. Now they want to make an insurance claim against me! Poor customer service, I will avoid Alamo/National from now on unless they admit their mistake.

Friendly staff at pick up. Staff saved me money. Drop off was as easy as I could imagine. Car was well maintained, clean, and came with nice features.Not much. Car could have come with iPhone adapter for CarPlay but that would’ve been above and beyond.

Drop off in vegas was easy and staff was kind helpful.Pick up process in Austin was poor. Agent just said follow me. He walked around vehicle and then said i could go. He did not do a vehicle check with me meaning confirming there are no damages. Didnt tell me where keys were and did not ask if i had questions regarding vehicle functions. I had to go get him and ask where keys were. At that point the agent made me feel rushed and as if i was an inconvienence not a customer. I had to fingure out how to use lights, cruise control ect. I had never driven that car before so perhaps the agents should be mindful of that.

Stuff was friendly, processing was quickI made a reservation for Mitsubishi Mirage, but they made me take Chevy Spark. The Mirage has standard seating for 5 passengers; the Spark can only carry 4. The Mirage Hatchback has 3.2 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Spark. I am not going to use Enterprise car rental next time.

Terms of payment weren’t on my order but I’m told that it was by every agent and manager I’ve spoke with. I needed a credit card or a return flight. This left me stranded and cost me my job.

I ordered a full size sedan. the lady at the counter told me i was getting an upgrade to a "larger vehicle" which turned out to be a small SUV. I didn't care - just needed the car but it was very disingenuous of her to be dishonest about a rental car. Is that the best hertz can do?

I will think twice before I use you again. The car I paid for online was not available until the next morning I don't live in that town it was one o'clock at night and I was with my 86 year old father. But an upgrade was available for more money. That's called a bait and switch scam! The charger was kinda nice to drive. But it had no back seat really and the heavy door's were very hard for my father to close. We went there for a funeral.

There was no car in the spot where my car was supposed to be. Also the person at the counter was no help with that issue, and he wouldn't attach my husband's gold status account to the reservation. With Hertz charging a fee when you call in to ask questions, and with the prices of rentals through the roof, they could have at least gotten those two things right.

They tricked at the counter, the attendant never told me I was going to be charged for an upgrade. When I received my final bill by email, I realized they charged me $30 for an "upgrade" that was never delivered or discussed at the counter.AS BAD AS IT COULD BE! The car was in terrible condition, ketchup on the door panel, plus had a disgusting juice spill all around the cupholders. Employees maybe we're waiting for a customer to clean up the car. The car had mirror lever is broken, head console buttons (SOS) where jammed/broken.

I didn’t get the car or help from the staff. Still charged full amount.I scheduled a same day pick up via my phone And the city auto populated to the neighboring city. I didn’t realize this until I went to pick the car up - kiosk guy directed me to customer service line but no one answered x 5. Called again the next day and was told it was too late.

We ended up with a truck, albeit an impractical one, with decent features at a great price. Drop off experience was pleasant.Beware of their dealer’s / manager’s special. They’ll try and give you a diesel vehicle and lie at pickup to convince you to upgrade and/or tack on extras. Worst rental pickup experience I’ve ever had! Go with Fox if you need a low-budget rental.

I rented a Jeep Cherokee and paid for that class of vehicle due to size and 4 wheel drive capability needed. We arrived at the Austin Airport at 1:30, went to the payless counter, agent said I had an 'Open Rental"?? Not sure what that meant and took several minutes to get a manager to overide this error in the system. Finally got the voucher to pick up the vehicle and found us standing in another line (Express pick-up) for anothe hour in the garage to get our vehicle. Finally we went to get our vehicle and the agent there tried to give me a Jeep Compass ( a lower class vehicle, not sure it has 4 wheel drive??). We explained that we selected and paid for a Jeep Cherokee or similar vehicle and couldn't take the lower class Jeep Compass, he then said we'd have to go back and wait longer until he could fine another vehicle. We waited another 20-30 minutes, now 90 minutes just to pick up a rental vehicle!! This delay caused us to miss a lunch appointment with other family members (who flew in on the same flight and rented fro Hertz and got their vehicle in 15 minutes!!! What a shame this process is so slow that we can't enjoy our vacation due to the huge delay and difficulty trying to rent from you. I still have a $250.00 charge pending on my credit card today and didn't receive an email receipt??? Not a great customer experience and I hope this really gets looked at to help Payless improve their process and delight the customers so they will come back. The line at the car rental in Austin was so long that I could not even get the car or I would have missed my meeting. I waited an hour and half before leaving the line that barely had moved. It would have been at least a 3 hour wait. This is unacceptable customer service and I want a refund.

The car was comfortable, the drop off was seamless and easy and I loved that there were unlimited miles. The car WAS NOT cleaned when we picked it up — we found fingernails and trash scattered throughout the vehicle. We also waited in line for 5.5 hours because the Payless counter was closed, as were other counters. So about 4 different rental car customers were being triaged through one line. I paid for a 2-day rental and by the time I got the vehicle, I had less than 24 hours left until I had to return it. I will not be booking with Payless again.

I liked that it was a car that got me from A to B didn't like - front desk person not wearing his mask properly, trying to trick me into buying a toll tag I didn't need. Next I hated all the trash I found in the car and the rear passenger door didn't open from the inside. Would never use kayak or payless again

counter was very understaffed - lines were very long - we wwere moved to 3 different counters and each time othe customers would jump the line - we waited 1.5 hrs to be waited on and then another 45 min in the "express lane" to get our vehicle - the vehicle we rented was not available so we were upgraded which was really nice however the tire pressure was low and they had no way of adding air -we had to take it to a station and fill the tire

It was one of the worst experience I have ever had with rental cars. I have rented so many times and never had to face this issue. Initially I was denied a hatchback car saying its all taken, even though I had booked online. 2: Later the person at the counter says, I need to pay extra for the car. 3: I had to take insurance and when I asked for the insurance copy over the mail, I was told to drive again to airport next day and get the copy which is absolutely a harassment. 4: Finally I was asked to drop off the car during peak hour traffic without giving any extension. 5: Also I ended up paying a lot more than what I intended to pay.

Arrived the night before a holiday , Budget did not have anyone working, had a sign up saying for service go to Avis. There were at least 30 people in the Avis line and they only had one person at their counter. After waiting and the line not moving for 45 minutes someone else came out and said it would be 30 minutes per customer to get through the line… for us that would have been a 5-10 hour wait. We were lucky and could be flexible so we walked out and got a Lyft but I’m sure not everyone was able to change their plans last minute

We arrived to find Budget closed with customers referred to another counter. There was 1 worker with a line of over 30 people. After waiting forn30 minutes and 2 customers being helped we checked again another counter and received a better price from them. I was unable to cancel with budget due to by the time we got to that point it was an hour beyond our pickup time. Very frustrating.

Not sure if Budget had some Hot Deal or what but literally everyone in the place was in line for Budget. It was ridiculous. Nearly 2 hour wait for Budget while all others had no one in line. Car interior was fine but the windows were filthy.

Car was not cleaned prior to pick up even tho the sticker on the door said it was. Was given the run around when trying to ask for a manager was told to call the 800 number and still after sitting on hold for over 45 mins was told that the manager at the returns desk should have helped me not the phone line. On top of all that charged me extra for keys that were placed on the dash which was told to me by the man doing the return check in. Still trying to reach someone at the rental place but after a day later no response. Will not do business with them again ever.

Terrible customer service. Had a completely flat tire 6 miles away from pick up. Lost too much time waiting to get the tire fixed. Was told I would receive a discounted charge, instead I received additional charges. Tried several times to get this resolved. Horrible!

Customer support was a nightmare. Our flight got canceled early in the morning so we needed to extend the rental car for a full day. We called dollar and the first person told us we can have the car throughout the day without a charge. We called again later and they told us it would be more than double the original price we paid. We called again and suddenly it was half as much. No one would give us a straight answer and we had no visibility into their pricing to make a good decision on what to do.

Everyone at the counter was incredibly accommodating. When I arrived they were slammed, and didn’t have many cars available, so they worked their magic and pulled a car from another service provider. I had no wait time. Everything was seamless. Drop off was a breeze. I’ll admit I don’t travel much, and when I do it’s often stressful... but Dollar made everything super easy.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. At other car rentals we have been pressured to buy more insurance, upgrade the car...they gave us exactly what we wanted and did not waste our time with a sales pitch. The process was quick and efficient.

The attendant did not review anything with me regarding the rental. IE return time etc. Did not receive hard copy of paperwork of rental agreement only email. Upon return of vehicle (they were closed) my emailed receipt was $100 over my agreement. Upon calling Fox I was told the car was returned late. Apparently it was due back at midnight. When I rented I told the agent we would be returning the vehicle around 3am. Not sure why he wouldn't have picked up on that...so I was charged $100 for his mistake in my opinion. Very sloppy experience overall.

I made an online reservation, and paid what I thought was going to be all the fees. It was more than what was estimated on kayak. I didn’t mind that much though, I expected to spend a few hundred. When I actually got to the rental booth to pick up the car, they tacked on so many extra fees, that the price of the rental doubled. Initially, I was only going to pay around $380. After all the fees, I ended up playing closer to $600. Very dissatisfied, and when I return the car, the representative didn’t speak English, and would basically try to guess at what I was saying and make nonsensical answers since she didn’t understand what I was actually asking. I am very dissatisfied with them, and I would never rent from them again.

I wish the rental companies would put a simple "guide" in the cars explaining how certain, necessary things operate on THAT particular car--i.e., how to open the gas tank cover, how to "pop open" the trunk/tailgate and things like that.

I was late to pick up my vehicle and they did not give away my car. Everything was as expected. I had a tire lose air and couldn’t find a Gas station with working air station. I returned my rental early in the am so I couldn’t report the low tire to anyone (rental counter not open yet) so that is my only concern. Wished i had an easy way to report my concern with vehicle during after hours. Would definitely rent here again! Austin Texas airport location

Never book thru Priceline! The guy at the desk tried 4 times to rent us a vehicle. Also as a walkup with no Priceline booking. Our name was tied up with Priceline, so in the end, he could not rent us ANY vehicle. Rental computer systems hate 3rd party bookings! Avis has the same problem. Not to mention the "$360" rental turns into $630 real quick after taxes and fees that Priceline does not tell you.

Clean car, at least on the inside. Easy return once I figured out where to go.Almost all the signs around the airport and parking garage listed directions toward all of the other rental car companies but did not list EZ Rent-a-Car, and the few ones that did were wrong. No one was at the EZ check-in desk. Scratches on car. Huge upcharges. Old car with no modern conveniences.

Overall Good experience, some confusionThe vehicle itself was excellent! I was given a free upgrade from what I had requested (compact) to a small SUV.Check-in was quite slow and rather confusing. The desk for E-Z was unmanned, and the screen behind the counter kept changing, so I couldn't even find the counter until the name of the company finally appeared. Then, there was a sign with print that was FAR TOO SMALL telling which counter to go to for service. I was third in line, and it was over 20 minutes before I got waited on...

Staff working airport service desk were very nice. But… Time: It took about an hour from time I arrived at counter to time I drove out of garage. Product: I didn’t get the car/category I had reserved. Garage Staff rushed me into a car from a different category, that wasn’t as comfortable as the car I had reserved. I had reserved a Toyota Camry (or equivalent) but ended up with a small Mitsubishi SUV (hard seats, loud road noise, low horsepower). Service; like I said, the counter staff were nice. The garage staff weren’t so much. They acted like they were doing me a favor by not charging me more for the car I ended up with, which clearly wasn’t the experience I was seeking. Cleanliness: The vehicle had a used mask hanging on the sun visor and some dirt in back floorboard. I know it’s tough for them right now, so I don’t like to complain. But this was not the car I wanted to drive around my 80 year old mother on a road trip.

Car wasn’t clean upon pick-up. But I can live with that. What made it such a bad and frightening experience was when I started my road trip the morning after picking up my car. It wasn’t until then when I got on the highway and learned that the car had a controlled speed limit that someone programmed with the Ford feature that I could not override. I wasn’t able to go fast along with the traffic and almost got hit by a truck. After trying to reset the controls, I took the car back. Tried to get a full refund for not being use the car for my trip and was denied.They could make sure their cars actually work properly and are safe.

drop off was easycost transperancy.. got ripped off.. becoz I was charged .40$ per mile on 300 mile trip. No indication of per mile at the time of rental. Giving out cheaper rental to beat search engine, but charging per mile. Felt really awful.

Long delay at checkout. Car selection at checkout was inappropriate. Car was very undersized for what I ordered. Drop off was easy as it usually is.I wanted a large car. Instead I got a ridiculously small mustang. Was in too much of a hurry to change it. Pay attention to what I ordered.

Associate took a break despite a long line forming leaving only one associate behind the counter with a very complicated customer service issue ongoing. Took over 30 minutes of standing “next in line”. Cost was very high compared to my original reservation with Thrifty.

The staff was great. Cindy was friendly and really helpful.The car could have been cleaner. It was brand new, with only 16 miles on the odometer. But there was tape on the windshield from a sticker or sign, which I peeled off myself, and both the driver’s and passenger’s side windows were dirty

The pick up was super easy and the lady was so welcoming and friendly. The drop off was awesome too the guy was very friendly and it was easy.Price went up because we dropped off in San Antonio after picking up in Austin. But it’s understandable so no complaints!

Nice car but it left the lot low on washer fluid.It was a nice car. Staff was friendlyThe Washer fluid was low and so every 10 minutes a bell would chime signaling the fluid was low. Fluid levels should have been checked before the car was put out available to drive. It was extremely annoying to have that chime every 10 minutes. Had to walk a mile to get to the rental building and I am disabled. There should have been a golf cart or some way for people to get to the rental building besides walking. The signs where to return rental cars at the airport were horrible with the construction.

National in Austin went fairly well getting the vehicle. The representative went overboard in trying to get me to upgrade however and when I got to the garage, it didn't appear there were any slightly larger cars available. This left the impression I would have been in the exact same car.

Make sure it’s not a sub-contractorClean, new car in great condition. Drop-off was quick and easy.The rental was not with Europcar as advertised. It was in fact with Advantage rent a car who, I guess, sub-let cars. Pick up was slow (why do I have to provide all my personal details when booking if none of these are forwarded to the rental company??). Also, when I called to try to extend the hire by a few hours, I was quoted a price equivalent of more than a day’s rental.
