There was nothing over and above what was reasonably expected of such a transaction.I requested to extend the rental period, however, the customer "service" person stated the rate for the days during the extension was twice the rate I had for the initial rental. He could do absolutely zero, nothing, utterly not empowered as a frontline customer facing representative to even attempt to make it feasible for me let alone achieve "customer delight." When ending the call the representative asked if he could do anything else for me, I responded, "No, your competitor is going to." The representative had no response other than to read the script on his screen and say, "Thank you, have a nice day." A bot has more decision making power and understanding. I went to an Alamo competitor, rented for an extended period of time and started a corporate account with that competitor. And that's how easy it is to loose the lifetime value of a customer. You can do better.

The staff at the Philadelphia off-airport location were very helpful, and they made the pickup quick and easy.As I waited outside the airport for the shuttle to bring me to the rental car lot, the blue National/Alamo bus approached as I waved, then drove right past me without even slowing. I'd been waiting for a while. A Dollar/Thrifty driver slowed down to check on me when I wasn't even waving at him, and ended up giving me a ride and dropping me off outside Alamo. So that was exceptionally cool and even heartwarming. When I mentioned it to the Alamo desk staff, they did give me a $25 discount. So ... I'm all good with it.

The staff was very good- they were well organized and working hard. There were lots of customers for limited staff. They were efficient and did their jobs well - there was no time for niceties other than polite service. They were inconsistent in enforcing the rule about "only the renter may come in the building". As a result my wife stood in the cold and watched other couples inside who elected not to comply with the stated rules. The car I got was adequate and functioned fine but was quite expensive (modest car- pretty high rate 140/2 days- tiny Hyundai) so it was adequate but not outstanding value. Return process was highly effective with good speed and no glitches. Again-staff is excellent. Overall- competent but modest value and inconsistent adherence to rules.Standardize adherence to rules. More staff on busy days. More product selection.

no, they were not helpful and they were misleading. Apparently they required an airline confirmation as we were paying with a debit card. 3 trips walking to the rental building in the rain the story changed slightly each time as far as what was need. never got the car and will certainly let all know that the Enterprise holding rental companies are incompetant.FIre the entire staff at the Philadelphia airport and hire a staff of concerned workers who work hard to keep their job and seek improvement, not the type that is hired and they feel entitled.

The staff were decent. they were friendly and somewhat understanding. The car I received was not the car reserved. and the car received had a horrible odor that the staff tried to convince me of cleaning products. IT WAS NOT!!!! and it smelled so bad the whole trip i had to personally buy air fresheners. Literally!!!! and i know some of my stuff smelled like the car after a few hours. NO GOOD!!!!!!!!!I asked for a better smelling car before i took it off the lot and they convinced me that the smell would go away. No the smell didnt. Car ran smooth.... also it woulda been nice to have some gas in the car before leaving the lot too.

Drop off was fine.There were no cars there when I arrived at my scheduled pick up time, and 5 other people waiting for the same reason. After waiting an hour and a half they drove me half an hour away to to a run down, dirty location in Kensington for a car with bird droppings all over and several dents and scrapes.

Despite reservation, showed up and they had no cars. Guy made a whole line of people wait about 20 minutes while he helped someone else, before making this announcement. He was rude, unapologetic, and made no attempt at being helpful (also maskless indoors). NEVER rent from here if you can avoid it- it was a major headache.

More specific instructions on how to get to the facility. The rental facility was literally across from the arrival location but I was waiting for quite a while for a shuttle bus. I stopped one of the other companies buses and he told me I could walk to it faster than waiting for the bus.

The car was like new, no issues.Why was I allowed to book a drop-off location that was closed on Memorial Day? The person at the Avis counter made ME call Avis to find a solution. The car also didn't have a full tank of gas.

NothingThe van never came to the airport and we had to walk to Avis,. Thent there were only two agents and we we #9 in line and that took an hour. The the car smelled terrible of smoke and there was bird mess all over the pasenger windshield. Upon the return thery were usin only one small bus to transport back to airport, a long line and again we had to walk back to the airport rather than wait the long time it wold have taken.

Staff at pick up was distracted, never walked me to car to look at it. When I dropped the car, there was mayhem. Maybe 20 customers, traffic jam in the parking lot, customers leaving cars in the middle of the aisle, no one to check in cars. One man with a Sixt shirt said, "Just leave your car, we'll take care of it." Then I boarded the shuttle to the airport. The shuttle bus driver, when leaving the parking lot, slammed on the brakes and had to get out of the shuttle for 10 minutes to go find a Sixt staff member to move the rental cars that were blocking the exit. Now, Sixt says there was damage to the car I rented. There was not. Their claim is false. Anything that happened to the vehicle happened before I received the car or after I dropped it off. While I had it, it stayed inside in a garage. So ridiculous. Now I've been on the phone for hours trying to get someone on the phone.

Besides Precious, the woman who accepted my car when I returned it, the whole experience was terrible. I booked a rental online, and when I arrived to pick it up I was told I couldn’t rent the car at that rate. My reservation was cancelled and I was forced to book a car for $300 more than what was advertised. When I got inside the car there were crumbs everywhere and empty plastic wrappers inside the glove box. There was also a crack in the windshield that was not mentioned on the list of pre-existing damages when I signed for the car. That made me suspicious and worried I would be charged for damages I didn’t make. I still haven’t received my $200 deposit despite there being no damages and the car was returned cleaner than I was given it. All in all, besides Precious at the Newark airport, this whole rental was a mess. This was my second time renting from Sixt and will be my last.

Staff at the counter had no sense of urgency. When I got into the vehicle it smelled of cigarettes smoke and it was dirty. I had a three hour drive ahead of me and it was getting late so I didn’t return to the counter. Once I arrive at my destination the vehicle was parked in a designated area which was in full sun. Each time I had to drive the car, my nose burnt and I developed a headache. Called the company. They recommend I buy an air freshener. When I returned the vehicle I spoke to the person who checked over my car. She couldn’t have cared less.

I had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes just to get the car that I had already reserved. They were very inefficient and slow and didn't seem to care. Other reviews online say this is a common issue at this location, so they have no interest in improving. Would not recommend.

1st car was in horrible shape broke down pulling out of lot. Added 2nd driver that was more then expected,, and then an extra fee put on me because your location was at airport that seemed high and unfair. with all the extra you were not a better price then the others next time I will use my local rental service. You should tell customers that the price to pick up at airport if your not flying is so high.. Very long lines to get car about an hour wait with an appointment time. very dissatisfied.

The car itself was fine. The counter agent was pleasant but the wait to pick up my car was horrendous. I waited about 1.5 hours, mostly outside in the heat, with no explanation, no accommodations, no apology. Several people ahead of me said they waited 2-3 hours. The line was getting longer by the minute behind me as well. That ruined the rental experience for me.

If you take the time to rent your vehicle online and have it ready for when you get there, I don’t feel like you should have to stand in line for 30 minutes waiting for others to make a brand new reservation or go back outside and get their wallets because they didn’t know you have to hold a card on file. This is 2021, nowhere in the world can you rent something without having a card on file and if you’re the ONE person that doesn’t know that you should get to the back of the line and not hold up everyone else. Some of us came prepared, and yet still had to wait for those who just casually strolled in without any clue as to what they were doing. I would be willing to pay more, to get in and out, and to have a more organized pick up experience.

The pick up at PHL was horrible. Stood in line for over 1 hour with only three agents present. As I finally got to the front of the line, one of the three agents simply left and did not return. Once I reached the punter, the agent told me that she could not find my reservation, although I provided her a paper copy got her reference. After three times, she finally stated that she had found it. There was no concern if the plus 1 hour wait line extended out into the parking lot. Terribly understaffed by agents with lackadaisical attitudes. Their “Philliness” was very apparent. Poor showing for Dollar Rentals.

We waited over half an hour at PHL airport for the Dollar Car rental shuttle but it never came. So we had to walk to the lot. Once we were in the rental office, there were 4 other customers ahead of us. It took over another 30 minutes just to get waited on. The car itself was fine, but it would have been nicer if there was a better drop-off location closer to where we were instead of having to travel to Pittsburgh, but I knew about that getting into the agreement. At the Pittsburgh airport dropoff, I waited in the car for 10 minutes before someone walked over and told me just to leave it there with the keys in it. That doesn't inspire confidence, and when I looked to see if someone was available to ensure the car was checked in, there was literally NOBODY in the area to help. So, while the car itself was fine, the service at Philadelphia and Pittsburgh airports could have been more robust.

We had a one hour and 45-minute wait to see one of the two agents working and there were still 50 people in line behind us. When we got there, there were about 20 people in front of me. The agent that took care of us was great. I realize it is hard to get workers now, but maybe you shouldn't rent so many cars if you don't have the staff to get them out.

They told my wife (English is a second language for her) that she needed to have insurance on the car, rising the bill from $220 to $320. She did not “need” to purchase insurance to rent the car. Our insurance and credit company both covered the rental already, but they made an additional $100 at her expense.

I didn't like anything about the rental. I reserved the car for a 6 pm pickup and the rental location closes at 6pm. No one informed me, and why would you schedule a rental for 6 pm knowing the rental location closes at 6. I arrive at the rental location and the place is locked up, entrance gate and all. This car was prepaid, something I rarely ever do. Terrible service: when i called about the rental, the associate literally "blew me off" and gave me a number to an automated system. NEVER, EVER AGAIN, PAYLESS RENTAL!!!!!!

The problem wasn't with the pickup in Philadelphia, which was fine, but with drop-off in Washington DC. No employee showed up for work in the morning when I was supposed to drop the car off (this is the 7th St NW location). After waiting more than an hour and a half someone finally showed up, but said the office was closed despite Thrifty continuing to book reservations from and to this location. She reluctantly took the car, but this is incredibly poor service.

The quote I signed up for was incredible. After getting a second charge, I called Thrifty. Supposedly, they are trying to say there was $98 in taxes, just kept saying $55 was our taxes, but couldn't tell me what that meant, and when I requested an email copy of the bill, never sent it. Phuk Thrifty. On a positive note, the front desk guy for Thrifty in Philly was AWESOME. So, just be aware my issue was with undisclosed "taxes" that I have no idea what was even for. (They explained the logical $31 for sales tax).

The women I delt with picking up the car was incredibly rude. She had MSNBC playing in the background and when I couldn't hear her speak and asked her to turn it down, she was very nasty afterwards and gave me so much attitude, while I was nothing but polite and professional. The car was gross as hell. Definitely wasn't washed on the inside as there was sweat stains everywhere, trash and personal effects In the car. Told the man at the gate about some bumps, like I was instructed too, but he didn't seem to write any of the information down. Trip went off without a hitch after that(was about a 6-7 hour drive through a tropical storm). But when trying to return the car I had issues. First of all I called the number provided to me in the email and was given incorrect information. I told him my drop of location, he kept insisting that it was the Boston airport even though I told him otherwise three times. He said an after hour drop off there would be ok then when completing the call said "Thank you for calling hertz". So since I couldn't trust him to even know what company he worked for, I called a different number and spoke to someone who knew what they were talking about. They said if I wanted to switch my drop off location it would cost me $70!? This would have been a location less then 5 miles away. So I said no and she them informed me the location I have is set up for after hours returns. The return location was in a parking garage with extremely tight walls and when I get there. All of the designated thrifty spots are full 😡 I was very frustrated again. I had to call them up and ask if it was ok to leave in an empty spot on the same floor, which they said was fine. The stress of that and the fact that they still have a pending charge on my credit card for double the agreed rental price a week after I returned the car is making me worry they will try to charge me for some bs after the fact. If at all possible I would avoid the car rental agency like the plague and go with more established ones.

Renting from Thrifty at PHL was probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced--I cannot overemphasize how appalling and miserable this experience was. We reserved a car weeks in advanced and paid in full expecting to be able to pick up our car at the airport and be on our way. Instead, we showed up and had to wait for THREE HOURS outside the rental office in 95 degree heat. There were many elderly folks in line who were clearly struggling with the heat and on the verge of passing out. Tensions were also extremely high among the hundred plus furious customers and at several points the line seemed on the verge of breaking down into an angry mob. The employees working inside were professional and did their best to keep the line moving but they were simply massively understaffed, which IMO suggests a systemic issue with this entire company and how they treat their staff. I understand there is a nationwide labor shortage and it is easy to chalk an experience like this up to "nOBoDY wAnTS tO wOorK", but IMO if you PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES A FAIR WAGE then they will WANT to show up to work and you will not have a ridiculous situation like this on your hands. Shame on you Thrifty, never again.

I had to wait over 2 hours in order to get my rental car. I understand there is a worker shortage. The problem was, they had about 5 people (including the manager) returning cars and only 1 person signing people in to get a car. The management was terrible. I felt really bad for the one lady that was working the front. One of the employees was sitting in a rental car, with the car running and would get out when someone returned a car and then would get to relax while there were no car returns all while the one poor lady stood, with not so much as a bathroom break for at least the several hours that I saw her. I won’t go back again!

What I did like was, the had cars available. It was not the cleanest rental ever. Windshield was dirty in the inside, dirt throughout the van. No one flipped the rear seats up. I would have hated it for my wifey or a single female trying to figure out how to manual flip the rear seats up.

I made a reservation 2 days in advance. There was no car available when I went to pick it up at the appointed time. No advance notice given. I never got a car and had to change plans entirely. In addition to that they still charged my credit card! Awful experience -- will absolutely never rent from Hertz again.

The location of this Hertz is NOT at the airport and should not be labeled as such. It's 30 minutes away which is very misleading. I went to the Hertz at the airport and was told that even though there was a car available, I would have to get an uber to the other office. At this point in the afternoon, I would not have made it in time. I had to cancel my current reservation and the cost of this one was quadruple.

When I arrived to pick up my car they had run out. So I couldn’t get a car. Had to call a cal center to get my money refunded in the next 7-10 days. Local workers were very nice but Hertz is a dumpster fire now and went bankrupt for a reason.

The staff at this pick up location has no clue of rental cars. 3 of 3 customers had to park and come back for a parking ticket to exit the garage. I was there and every car trying to exit had to back up and park. The day of drop off no one was there due to the holiday, why no one said something to me while picking up. Thanks

Customer service was great. It was quick in and out to both pick up and drop off. The only thing I didn’t like was that I was given a car that was all banged up as in dents all around the car. They didn’t do a walk around to inspect the car, I had to take a video of the car because I didn’t want to be responsible or get charged for a wreck car. I had to go back inside to let her know that the car had dents all around. All I received was a verbal affirmation that they were aware of the car’s condition. I usually get an inspection and walk around with an associate. Other than that the experience was great!

This was a less expensive alternative. It is a very small operation, when we left the lot we realized that it only had a 1/2 tank of gas, we turned around and let them know. They said to bring it back with a 1/2 tank. It worked out, but they are not like renting from the larger rental agencies.

The price of the rental was great, and the car was in good shape. The pickup and dropoff experience left a lot to be desired. When I called to get a shuttle from the airport to the rental location I was told that because I was picking up my car a few hours late (due to a rescheduled flight, outside of my control) my reservation had been cancelled. I opted to come to the rental agency anyway and fortunately there was a car available for me, but that was a nerve-racking experience. And on the return trip, even though we returned the car on time there wasn't a shuttle to take us to the airport so we had to cram into a shoddy van with a few strangers and an unmasked driver.

Rental Truck Bed Too SmallThe purpose of the rental was to haul a new mattress. It would not fit in the tiny bed. The next size up in pick up truck would have doubled the price. The person working the counter was less than enthusiastic.

My flight to PHL was late Fri evening and 30th Street Station National office was closed. However, the agent who I called to re-book for the next morning was outstanding, She looked up my old preferred customer (or whatever) number and got me a better deal.Then the next morning at the desk I asked about upgrading to a larger vehicle and the agent gave it me at no increase in cost. Reasons to come back to National.Car hadn't been washed.

Easy transaction and friendly staffWe had multiple travel delays due to flying standby, but even after our late arrival, we had a car ready for us and we're helped promptly when we arrived.30th street station can be difficult to navigate, but patience and close attention to signage helps.

National Car Rental is an AMAZING company to work with!From the first click on-line, to being greeted at the reception desk to sign-in at the National counter to pick up the rental car....just incredible. Everyone on the National team was top notch in their attention to details, and their customer service: stellar, truly. To the attendant who finalized our transaction paperwork, to the team member who escorted us to our rental car...simply amazing. We were struck by National's competence and we vowed to never use any other service except the best: National. A model company that all others should be measured by...exemplary in every aspect.

The gal at check in was very nice.Car smelled like cigarettes. A caution air tire pressure light was on at all times, but there was a little not that said to ignore the light. This was a little worrisome.

pricing was one thing. a little seedy. car was not clean inside or out. the rental signing process a little outdated and in an uncomfortable setting. In the end, the pricing was not that much cheaper than the nationals/brand names. The policy about the rental period is strict. severe penalty for dropping off after 24 hour period...so ridiculous that I uber'ed to a couple places after I returned the car. My flight came in early and I picked up an hour earlier than anticipated but was leaving at my expected time 26 hours later. 2 extra hours was double the cost.

Barely worth the slightly older carSlightly cheaper priceHad to call to find out that we wanted the Colonial Airport Parking shuttle after we waited for a while hoping for a Rent-A-Wreck shuttle. Car smelled like cigarette smoke and windows were a bit foggy on the inside. The office wasn't marked The guys at the drop off place weren't particularly helpful with my questions.

Do NOT use this companyNothing really!The dispatcher were rude! The van was in need of maintenance - exampke, wipers were old and cracked. It was a big hassle to get into the lot and find the car. The lot attendant was very rude! As my wife concluded, they have ZERO customer service.

Due to trouble with the mechanics of the car Rent a Wreck is refunding a day's charge. This should be back in account within 3 days, they say.The muffler came semidetached and it sounded like a street rod. I'm nor sure if this was a safety hazard or not but it wasn't good.

Will not rent from them againI got a rental car on a day when there were almost zero options for rental cars at the airport.Waited 2 hours to get the reserved car, car exterior was damaged and severely needed washing, and finding the place was tough. It was the worst car rental experience I have had in 20 years.

Ridiculous CompanyNothing! We never got a car!They don’t pick up where the other rental car companies pick up for a shuttle. But they also never told us this. So we’re waiting in the freezing cold waiting for a shuttle with our infant son for a while until I finally call customer service. They tell me i need to send a text message to a sketchy number to pick us up somewhere else in the airport! Huh?! So we do that and they never come! Seriously! Never come! We went to Alamo instead that night and they were wonderful. Do not trust this company. They are a scam!!!

We made reservation on 11/10. Landed at Philly at 5:30pm. Bad experience from first unable to find shuttle location. Waste almost 45mins to get to ez rental car office. Then was told no car available. (There are 3 customers there). Told us can give us ride to other car rental office. But the driver just dropped us back to the airport again. By the time we got car at other car rental lamo it was close to 8pm. Waste More than 2 hours to get reserved car from ez car rental at other car rental almo. What a joke. I could drive from Boston to Philly for same time and save $600 and headache. I will never rent a car from EZ.

My 1st time using Kayak and will be my last. I gave Kayak a chance and it was a mistake. I needed a rent car in Philadelphia and i booked through Kayak. My travel plans got delayed which caused me to arrive in Philly after 8 p.m. I found out that the EZ rental facility closed at 8pm and i wouldn't be there until 10pm. 8pm is not very late and it completely screwed up my rental plans. Because EZ rental wouldn't allow me to get my car after 8pm i attemped to cancel the kayak reservation and they absolutely would not refund my money despite my unfortunate circumstances. So now I have to pay over $200 for a rental i didn't even use. The worst part is i STILL had to pay to get another car rental elsewhere on top of my Kayak rental. I gave Kayak a chance and I am very disappointed that i did. I wouldn't have any bad feelings if kayak would just refund my money for a rental that i wasn't able to use. When i found out my travel plans were going to be delayed I tried to cancel my rental before it started and still kayak wouldnt work with me. I would understand more if i missed the rental completely but i let them know before i was scheduled to even begin my rental.

The car worked.We lost my husbands sister and had to get to De for a funeral, When we arrived there was a line to pick up car. Only one person to take care of the customer. We got taken care of bye a lady. she was doing the best she could being the only one there. we went to the car , looked it over and had no idea how to start the car, we do not have a car that you dont need a key to start. So we had no idea how to start it. we looked it over the car was dirty and I went in to ask for help. As I said she was alone. I asked her if there was anyone to help us she said no just her she would be out in a few minutes. She came out explined you must put your foot on brake to start the car. My husband thought the car ran rough . itdid not feel right we found out that a front tire and a rear tire had only 12 lbs of air in them we put air in them and it was much better. the drop off was bad also . we had a 6 am flight back home she had explained to us we go to a little building and there will be someone to check us back in after hours. when we arrived at 4 am there was no one there so we had to take a ticket to get in and park the car. there as a shuttle coming through at the time so we got on and told him what happened , we ended up giving the keys to him. he assured us he would take care of it. I called later that afternoon and explained what happened and they kinda got nasty about us giving the keys and leaving the car in the wrong spot. she said she would check with the driver. he had returned the key. I received an email all was ell . and it could take up to 21 days to get my deposit back. I will never use this company again. they were ok in the emergency but never again.
