The drop off was great. Service in Atlanta was very fast and contactless. The rental hold money was returned quickly following drop off. The car ran fine.The car was not very clean either inside or outside upon pickup. The car was not available at the pick up time and I had to wait about 45 minutes to an hour for a vehicle to arrive that I could use. The person checking me in was not forthcoming about the amount Alamo was going to charge my card which caused unnecessary confusion during pickup. I have used Alamo before and did not have any problems when renting in other states so my family will likely rent from them again in the future. Maybe it was the ERW airport having an off day.

Nothing at all. The wait for 6 customers to be served, myself included, was over 30 minutes. When I finally got the rental processed, and went outside to get the car, we discovered from the 15 or so customers waiting for their cars told us Alamo had run out of cars, and the Enterprise sister rental business had run out, too. Only one person was proctoring the distribution of cars; it was chaos, and people were beginning to lose their tempers.Everything. Just CARE. If management is aware of a pending Labor Day weekend rental crisis/shortage, it should respond appropriately. But typical of American big business practices, it goes very, very short with actual service because it COSTS, and they are ALWAYS about cutting their own costs. On top of that, two charges appeared on my final bill - one of them expensive: "Recovered Concession fee, @ 17.95 per day". That fee was never described by the agent at pickup, nor by the agent at drop-off. This was absolutely and unequivocally the worst rental experience ever in my 40 driving years. I will NEVER rent from Alamo again. Further I will warn all friends and strangers willing to listen that you are an enterprise never to be patronized, and to be avoided like the plague. But I know this will fall on deaf ears and cloudy, blind eyes. You will focus on all the EXCELLENTS, (8-10), and ignore this completely. You will not change policy, nor check out what went wrong, because from top-to-bottom management really, really just doesn't care. If it did, it would be evident from the way they setup business, as well as conduct it. I'm spending the time to write this only because... well..., I DO care. If it were my business, I would run it entirely different.

I didn't use Thrifty. I used Budget. There was a line of about 10-15 people, almost out the door or the building. When I finally get to the counter I was told they didn't have any cars left, so I would have to wait. After a short period they said they found a car for me. They didn't ask if I wanted insurance. The didn't ask if I wanted to fill the gas, or have them fill for a fee. They didn't ask if I wanted to use the transponder for tolls(which didn't work). They didn't tell me why the charge was $500 instead of $250 for a 2 day rental. I had to ask all those questions. I was given a receipt and told a parking spot number. The vehicle had significant roof damage and some dents/scratches to the front end. They never provided any instructions. They did not tell me I had to open the door on the toll transponder to use it. When I did open it, it didn't work. Budget might as well get rid of all the people they have working and set up a couple kiosks. It would be faster and more informative, as I felt like I was asking all the questions and doing all the work anyway.

The line to pick up was very long. Then the only card I had was my debit cards. Even though I had a photo of my Mastercard they said they could not use it so I did not get to rent a car. Budget will take debit cards so I thought I would use Budget again, They were booked, which is why my son rented a car for me at Thrifty online using his card. The car.The attendant at the pickup site was very helpful within his limitations. He spent an inordinate amount of time calling the back office(from what I believe to be his personal cell phone) to get a confirmation code. The process took close to half an hour. My reservation was prepaid with the tax portion being the only residual so I do not recognize the need for that much time being taken to process this transaction. It seemed that there was no real advance preparation of the rental prior to my arrival. I do not fault the attendant, I fault the back office support. I expected better service.

First, I drove around the airport for 15 minutes trying to find the pick up place. It was in a trailer in the parking lot and the only signage said “Drop off Only”. The guy at the counter in Newark was super nice so this is not his fault but there was a long exceedingly slow line. They appeared to not have a record of one customer’s reservation and couldn’t find the key for another customer’s car. I was in line for at least 30 minutes and once I got to the front, the second of only two people working there left on break. Again, I don’t blame her! Bad management. The biggest issue is that my car sucked. $277 for a 24 hour rental and it was a totally stripped down Hyundai that was dirty - looked like coffee spatters all over the upholstery and the ceiling of the car - and the tire pressure gauge was illuminated. I should have refused the car but I was already late and couldn’t face going in and starting over. Drop off in Hyannis wasn’t fabulous either. I again waited forever even though there was only one person ahead of me. Why no key drop? Is this still 1994? The guy actually went to the parking lot to check the car. Who even does that anymore? Like I said, bad management. Sorry, Dollar. I’ll be back at Avis next time.

The only positive thing from this experience was the customer service rep who helped me sign out the car initially. She was courteous. Some of the negatives of the experience include: -trash left in the car from previous renters -EZ pass not operating correctly -return experience (no one was available to assist and we were provided no instructions for the return) -damages were not documented when I received the car. I had to figure out how to document the damages myself

Had to wait more than one hour in line to pick up car because there was literally 1 person for literally 30 people in line. Wipers were old and visibility was dangerous in the rain during our trip. Expensive overall.

The vehicle was new and clean, had good fuel efficiency, and performed well.The pick-up experience was terrible. The dollar counter had a very long and slow line. The staff requested redundant personal information that had already been entered into the online rental system. This wasted a lot of time. No other rental car companies had a line because they were able to process their rentals very fast. Many other companies simply have the keys and vehicle ready for quick pick-up and the rental agreement is provided via email. Dollar needs to do better before I decide to use them again.

Drop off was quick and painless. I think we waited about 25 minutes for the van to be ready at the Newark airport when we went to pick it up. We had a Chrysler Pacifica van and it ran well, got over 25 mpg driving fast, and the AC worked good.On the downside, the third seat was elecric folding and it did not work properly. We had to manually push the cushions down to get a flat floor. For a long trip, the front seats in the Pacifica van are strictly mediocre, and the 2nd row seats are awful - like a padded jump seat. Too many gadgets. I will reserve final judgement on the billing for when we get the credit card statement.

Pick up was generally fine, however office was in a trailer so a bit hard to find. Also the car we got was a Prius, would have been good to have that pointed out before choosing the full tank gas option as a Prius uses FAR less fuel than a fully gas car. Return was stressful, return area was hard to find, it looked like there was only one staff checking people in at 4:00 on a Sunday so we had to wait a long time for him to get to us and then after he checked us in he said we had to go to the office. I did and the office did not understand why but they guy in the office did some stuff and checked us in finally but way too long and much harder than your competitors.

We ask for a 7 seat vehicle because we were traveling with a lot, but when we arrive they kept putting us inside a small vehicle where we did not fit comfortably and squeezed together with a very tight fit. Our price started off at $438 for two days but when we returned they ended up charging us $663.00 way over priced 😔 not happy at all

Car busted a rear tire on the NJ turnpike. Called budget--left me on the turnpike over an hour before calling me back and saying I had to call the turnpike authority to get off the turnpike. Then when off the turnpike, they were supposed to send a ride to receive a new rental car and they left me out there over 8 hours and never came to get me. I talked to multiple people and they Assured me someone was coming they never did. A relative came to get me in the middle of the night to transport me to Philadelphia Airport. I am unhappy with them.

The car was dirty inside and outside - obviously not cleaned after the previous rental. In a time of Covid, thats pretty reckless. Told this to the agent when dropping it off - she apologized but made no attempt to offer a discount.

I printed out my reservation…… Budget Rental. After waiting in the tiny trailer for two hours, there was no car for us. No updates were given unless we asked. We finally decided to leave, spend $100 more, and go to Hertz. Hertz immediately had a car for us. Very disappointed have been misled by Kayak and Budget Rent-A-Car!

What could have been better would have been a single Budget employee or two, to be at the Newark airport, to check-in and process the car rental reservation I made, as well as the 40+ people in line, who were waiting over an hour for someone to show up! Budget corporate was no help either.

Pickup was long, drop off was very difficult to locate. One of the employees told me that he had to locate other (many) clients on the streets to help them locate the drop off area. I was an hour and a half late, coming from a long meeting and I was charged an extra day of rental. They are crazy. I rented many cars this is the last time with budget!!!

The wait on line to get prepaid car was over 1 hour in a very hot crowded trailer at Newark Airport. COVID waiting to happen. The car was not clean and only had 1/2 tank of gas. The change oil light was on the whole time I then recieved a call from the last renter of this car ....not Payless to tell me she left a valuable under the passenger seat. It was not discovered because the car was not cleaned properly. Payless gave my cell phone to this person?? I met this person on the highway and gave her the wallet. Very disappointed in the whole process. It was less than Avis and Hertz ....but

Had family tragedy at home had to turn in my rental car two weeks early. I paid for full month up front as priceless expressed that was better rate. I expressed my emergency and ask for refund of remaining two weeks due to emergency. After 4 weeks calling and being put on hold with different person. Each person with different story I still have not received refund. Last person stated we could not help me as others said we should be able too Getting serious run around. I would definitely advise using another company.

My rental agent was wonderful.I’m hoping I didn’t screw up with that easy pass. I’m not sure it was open for a bridge crossing and I’m not very familiar with the whole toll and easy pass since the cashless toll system has been implemented. I could have used more info on using the easy pass. Will I get penalized?

I did not like anything. Bad service.They lost the keys and the car then the wait to be seen meanwhile they are all here the attitude it’s just not a good experience at all. The person that lets you out is never there and you have to wait on them or go looking for someone it is ridiculous .

I was able to get a car same dayJust about everything. First car had rock damage to the windshield and I was asked to sign off on the existing damage to the car prior to inspecting. Pick up was easy enough though it appeared the car hadn't been washed and there was what seemed to be melted chocolate on the passenger's seat which we didn't know until my husband noticed brown spots on the back of several shirts we wore during the trip.The drop-off experience was miserable. The drop-off lanes were completely full so there was nowhere to actually return the car. There was no Advantage attendant offering directions or instructions. And there was nowhere to leave my key so I could easily return the car and head to the terminal

Inspite of paying in advance and reserving a car. They were sold out and did not have a car for me. I had to make my own arrangements at 1 am and got an expensive rental last minute from other company.

they were very helpful and for a change, was a very good experience.the only thing I find irritating lately is, that there is not enough advice and information given about tolls, and it seems that the only option is to hire an ex-pass, but it does not seem right, I am sure there must be a sight which you can look up if you are due to pay any toll ? They said they couldn’t get ahold of the other office and there was nothing they could do I and I should call them myself. I called and left messages and haven’t heard anything in 18 hours. They promised 24 and I’m not feeling confident about it. The associate literally didn’t even say sorry—it was such a bummer to spend money on that. Would really appreciate some sort of acknowledgement.

A brilliant serviceAfter having a previous bad spell with enterprise and moving to a competitor I decided to try a one day rental.. I was pleasantly surprised from the check in to the well trained and courteous staff to the quality of the car. Drop off was flexible and total experience was excellentIf you pick up a car at 4pm or whatever time drop off should be 24 hours or less to mike a day and should be expressly written. Drop off must not always be 12 noon as this is not a hotel service.. a day is a day and not a fraction of a day

Obtaining vehicle at Newark NJ airport was excellent.Went to drop off vehicle hours later in Long Island ISP and signage was poor and the sign said to return key to office. What office it was a parking lot connected to a private pay parking lot. They told us to go into the terminal where it says check baggage. We did and there was the Hertz counter. Arrived in Newark at 5:30 am on an early morning flight There was only one person working at the desk, she was busy talking on the phone outside the counter for a while. She finally came back to do the paperwork, all while still chatting on her phone. Got the paperwork, picked up the car but there was nobody at the exit and the gate was closed. Had to call and wait another 10 mins for someone to show up and open the gate. Car was not clean, but OK. Overall the experience could have been better.

The staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating. I accidentally left my license with the attendant she held on to it until I returned two days later. I also accidentally returned the car to the wrong place to which they said no problem it's on the lot it's on the lot. And they got me through to the airport. So all in all a very good experience

Nice car, just picking up the car was unnecessarily long in my mind. Seems like each customer takes about 5 mins to process, even after entering so much info online to make reservation. Only two desk staff to handle the volume of travelers.

I paid for one car when I reserved and then they downgraded me when I got there but told me I still needed to pay for the more expensive car I booked. Then the paperwork they gave me didn't match the car they gave me. So then they gave me another car that didn't have the ezpass in it that I paid for, so I got hit with a ton of tolls. And they said there was nothing they could do about it. In the end, I paid almost twice as much for a crappy car then I would have anywhere else and it took twice as long as I kept getting moved to different cars. I will not be renting from them again.

I was pleased my ‘non smoking ‘ car truly was a non smoker. At the end of a long trip while returning the car in pouring rain your bright orange SIXT signs stood out above all your competitors making my drop very easy and much appreciated.

The car was dirty enough to render seeing dangerously difficult. I had to pay to clean the car myself in order to safely drive on highways. So a deal that was predicated an upfront payment was meaningless when safety is compromised.

I reserved a car to be picked up at 11pm, but my flight was delayed such that I arrived at Sixt just after midnight, only to find that their office is closed and (unlike Hertz, Thrifty, and Dollar) there is no way to pickup your car. Eventually I just rented a car last-second from Hertz (which luckily was cheaper), and spent days convincing Sixt to cancel my prepaid reservation. Which they finally did, minus a $200 cancellation fee. Ridiculous.

Drop off was super easyCalled a month ahead of trip and asked if debit cards are accepted. Was informed that they would accept a debit card but a higher deposit is required. No problem there, but upon arrival was then told I'd be charged an extra $30 per day on top of the higher deposit for the daily damage waiver insur.

I rented a car in advance and the rental company at the airport closed earlier than their stated closing time and I missed the rental. So I had to rent another car and lost the $200 because it’s non refundable due to 3rd party rental. I will rent directly from the rental company from now on.

When my flight was delayed, I called the company hours in advance to let them know I would probably be 2 hours late to pick up my car (due to the flight delays - no fault of my own), and they said that I would be out of luck. First time I called they said there was a 2 hour grace period, and the second time I called they said there was a 1 hour grace period. So either way they were refusing to hold the car for me.

ACE requires proof of liability insurance on your personal vehicle. If you can't provide proof, you are forced to buy their expensive "Supplemental Insurance". Who carries their car insurance with them? Most people keep it in their car at home...

This was our first time renting with Ace. Everything went very well. From our shuttle from the airport, pick up procedure to drop off. The car was clean, very low mileage and handled very well throughout our rental time. Good job Ace car rental!!!

The price was good but in the end not worth the hassle i’ve everything else you had to put up with.Company should informed that a shuttle does not automatically pick them up at the airport; that the customer needs to call for pick up. Customer service is significantly lacking. Even though there is a sign that says no smoking clearly someone(s( had been smoking in the car I got... I heard another customer say the same about their car.

It took over 1 hour for the shuttle service to pick me up at the curb at Newark Airport and the instructions for the pickup location are totally inaccurate. I had to call twice for the pick-up. Then, once at the rental car location, approx. 30 more minutes to finally get the car. I had reserved a “Volkswagen Jetta or Similar”But I was given a 4 year old Toyota Corolla with damage around the car, in the trunk and inside the car including a shattered mirror on the passenger side visor, which is really dangerous considering most people are looking up at the mirror when they go to use it. It was filthy, smelled like cigarettes and three of 4 hubcaps were held on with Tie-wraps. The trunk had missing and broken panels and actually made my luggage look like is had been in mud. If Kayak is associated with ACE Car Rental, then Kayak is negligent as well. Absolute trash!!

Pick-up counter was a nightmare-- we waitied 30 minutes. They were woefully understaffed, and all but one of the staff was ridiculously slow. The location is also very difficult to access when returning the car. It's like some kind of google map exercise to see if you can actually find the drop-offMore staff, or at least one that felt some sense of urgency. Unfortunately, the location issue is a bigger issue with Newark Airport.

Nice car but not enough explanation on how to operate the features of the car.Getting to the rental location was difficult, no clear direction on where and how to get a pick up. Everything is on an app. and that is a pain if you phone is no working well.

Please ensure that u add additional time to your booking in the beginning itself. They charged me for 2 whole additional days for returning the car about 3 hours late. Also, the Audi Q3 is not the best option for a long drive. The car hydroplaned massively on wet road conditions in upstate NY. Seat quality and ride quality left a whole lot to be desired. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed. Wouldn’t be recommending.

not truthfulI was able to reserve a car on line to drive from Manhattan to Cleveland. I even received a confirmation number. When we called to verify, we were then told that we could not have a car with a one way trip to Cleveland. I then received 2 texts and 2 phone calls requesting that I forward my information regarding the rental. During the last phone call, requesting "where I was" it was indeed clarified that I could not rent the car one way to Cleveland and the person on the line would just cancel the rental "for me". Really? It was confusing and frustrating.
