The car was not very clean either inside or outside upon pickup. The car was not available at the pick up time and I had to wait about 45 minutes to an hour for a vehicle to arrive that I could use. The person checking me in was not forthcoming about the amount Alamo was going to charge my card which caused unnecessary confusion during pickup. I have used Alamo before and did not have any problems when renting in other states so my family will likely rent from them again in the future. I made the reservation and paid in advance, only to find when arriving at the counter that I’ve been placed on a Do not rent ban. The staff at the counter could not tell me why or help me any further and made me call a customer service line, where I waited for 20 minutes on hold. Since I was in a time crunch, I had to walk away and rent with a different service. Why did Hertz not flag my account when I paid for my reservation in advance, instead of wasting my time when I was already ready to pick up the car? Who knows. I still have not been able to get through to their specific phone line to figure out why my account has been blocked, after calling multiple times. I last rented with Hertz a few months ago, and never received any notice about my account being blocked.2.0 Poor

Drop off was quick and painless. I think we waited about 25 minutes for the van to be ready at the Newark airport when we went to pick it up. We had a Chrysler Pacifica van and it ran well, got over 25 mpg driving fast, and the AC worked good.Cons:
On the downside, the third seat was elecric folding and it did not work properly. We had to manually push the cushions down to get a flat floor. For a long trip, the front seats in the Pacifica van are strictly mediocre, and the 2nd row seats are awful - like a padded jump seat. Too many gadgets. Not only I receive no compensation for this, but I had to pay more money in order to get an upgrade which I was not interested in but was the only thing available. Please ensure that u add additional time to your booking in the beginning itself. They charged me for 2 whole additional days for returning the car about 3 hours late. Also, the Audi Q3 is not the best option for a long drive. The car hydroplaned massively on wet road conditions in upstate NY. Seat quality and ride quality left a whole lot to be desired. the car was very old and was malfunctioning. I could barely drive up-hill as the engine was stalling. I had difficulty passing other cars as I couldn't accelerate due to engine problems, I guess? This car should have not been in service as it wasn't safe for the driver or for the passing traffic. Additionally, Ace charged me $350 on my credit card even though I prepaid for the rental. I never got a receipt for the charge and I'm disputing it with my credit card. Ace office was old and smelly, the employees were smoking cigarettes in the office.
