I went to pick up the car with my kayak confirmation number and there weee NO cars available- Jayak never checked with Avis. I had a very very ill child to transport…. I was overwhelmed and this made it untenable

They gave me a pickkup time that was the closing time of that location, so when I arrived to pick up a 7:00pm car at 7:20, they were closed. The individual there yelled at me for being late, and told me to call customer service, which I did. Customer service assured me that I could return and pick up the car at 7 the next morning instead. I asked if there would still be a car, because I know there is a window period for most car companies. He assured me there would be. The next morning, I was informed that I had lost my reservation because it was cancelled by the company when I failed to show up in the 2-hour "window period" from 7-9pm (when they were closed). Because I had lost my reservation, they tried to charge me $500 for a 4-day rental that previously had been $192. They yelled at me again for having shown up "late" the night before because they work 12-hour days and can't sit around waiting for people to come get their cars. It was only after I refused to pay it (because I had not been authorized to spend that amount) that they adjusted it down to $250. It was an awful and stressful experience.

The car was like new, no issues.

Cons:

Why was I allowed to book a drop-off location that was closed on Memorial Day? The person at the Avis counter made ME call Avis to find a solution. The car also didn't have a full tank of gas.

Car had a bit of an odor that wasn’t initially evident, just had it for a day and they were receptive to my comment upon return.

The pickup spot was changed to a spot much further away from the one I had booked. And that site closed 2 hours earlier than my rental ended, requiring me to make another trip back this morning to drop off the keys.

This location was weird. Staff were in street clothes; no uniform or uniformity. I wasn’t told what kind of car I was assigned just that it was on the second floor of the parking garage. I wasn’t instructed how to get to the second floor of the parking garage where the car was located. I was told I’d need a ticket to get out but since they weren’t able to provide one, I’d just need to let the security guard know so they’d let me out. And I was instructed upon returning the car to bring the ticket from entering the garage and to take a picture of the mileage and fuel level so that they could use that instead of going to check themselves. I would only rent from here again if it was the only location left to rent a car from in the entire city.

Questionable Brown (coffee?) stain all over the ceiling of the car. Cdr smelled like cigarettes. EZ-pass stopped working halfway through the trip. Most expensive rental I’ve ever had, and it was the most disgusting so far. And I’ve beeb renting for awhile.

Single worst car rental experience I have had. I’ve tried to rent from this location multiple times, multiple confirmed prepaid bookings. This is the first time they have had a car. The people working here have never heard of customer service. They answer personal phone calls during helping customers, lie to customers faces, and walk away from you in the middle of trying to get your car and return your car. I have never seen anything like this Hertz location. Shocked they are allowed to operate.

Because they computer was down I had to wait 2 hours when I had a reservation. Then they gave me an “upgrade” of an EV, but no instructions about why that meant. Just rushed me through the process to get me out of there. I wound up spending more on charging the car than renting it. Not to mention the hours of time I lost trying to find places to charge, stations that were out of order, the six apps I had to download to my phone, and the actual hours I wasted charging the car instead of spending time with my family - the reason I rented the vehicle in the first place. When I told them I was upset they said there was nothing they could do until the rental was over. Now I have to wait 5-7 days to see IF I can get a refund. The Hertz location was in a cold parking garage with benches and 3 inch bulletproof glass so I couldn’t hear half the things they were talking about. Worst rental experience I’ve ever had. I’ll take the train next time. This was horrible.

Never even got to pick up my car. Gave me a pickup time that was the same time as their closing time. Tried to call to let them know I was running late and of course no one answered. Finally get there and everyone is gone. Never got my car. Had to scramble to find another car by the end of the day for a trip that was planned 2-3 months ago.

Location was difficult as construction was going on. Pick up took awhile as I got there a bit early and no car was ready. Drop off was pretty smooth. Great value...Would use again if the price was right.
