Pros:

The staff was very good- they were well organized and working hard. There were lots of customers for limited staff. They were efficient and did their jobs well - there was no time for niceties other than polite service. They were inconsistent in enforcing the rule about "only the renter may come in the building". As a result my wife stood in the cold and watched other couples inside who elected not to comply with the stated rules. The car I got was adequate and functioned fine but was quite expensive (modest car- pretty high rate 140/2 days- tiny Hyundai) so it was adequate but not outstanding value. Return process was highly effective with good speed and no glitches. Again-staff is excellent. Overall- competent but modest value and inconsistent adherence to rules.

Cons:

Standardize adherence to rules. More staff on busy days. More product selection.

Pros:

no, they were not helpful and they were misleading. Apparently they required an airline confirmation as we were paying with a debit card. 3 trips walking to the rental building in the rain the story changed slightly each time as far as what was need. never got the car and will certainly let all know that the Enterprise holding rental companies are incompetant.

Cons:

FIre the entire staff at the Philadelphia airport and hire a staff of concerned workers who work hard to keep their job and seek improvement, not the type that is hired and they feel entitled.

Drop off excellent and efficient. Shuttle service was excellent.

Cons:

Pickup was slightly slower than expected. 3 companies sharing one rental area delayed the process. Many clients were waiting in line.

Their office was closed, I couldn't pick up my rental, and they refused to issue a refund. It was borderline impossible to reach anyone on the phone, and email support wasn't helpful either, so now I have to dispute this with my bank. Never again, NEVER rent from Sixt. What kind of name is that anyway? Trying to make a number into a verb? WTF. F these guys, bunch of clowns.

Drop off was fast and fine, but pickup was slow. There were many employees just standing around while only two (eventually three) were helping customers. Though the person helping us was pleasant and professional, she couldn’t type which added to our pick up time. All in all, this wasn’t a show stopper for us; we’ll use them again if their price is right.

They refused to give us a car we had pre-paid for because the computer told the counter we were "blocked," but they couldn't tell us why we were blocked or help us resolve it. We had to find another car on a Friday evening. Several days later, someone called and told us the accounting department had blocked us. Customer service repeatedly refused to transfer us to accounting to resolve the block and repeatedly refused to let us talk to a supervisor because they "were all in a meeting." Customer service hung up on us twice. It took over a week to get our pre-paid money back and in the meantime, we still had to pay for the car we ended up renting for a much higher price. Now they want a "cancellation" fee from us. They are, without a doubt, the worst.

The car was dirty, smelled and the key fob ran out of batteries hours into the trip. They could not have cared less when I returned it. Have had terrible customer service at this particular budget before. There’s a reason it’s often the least expensive.

The vehicle could have been better (car was hit, inside was stained). The customer service could have been better (I wasn't given neither paperwork emailed receipts or agreement). Icing on the cake was the next door Avis employee blocking the airport shuttle bus to pick us up. When told to move her car, she was beyond rude as if the rental was free. She indicated she's aware of blocking the way and continued the casual conversation with the Budget employee until finished.

The pick up location (PHL) was struggling to keep up with the demand of reservations. Cars were not available as reserved. The vehicle I got was visibly damaged and dirty and no one was available to assist or document it. I actually dropped the vehicle off early rather than continuing to drive it and pay anymore to rent it. The drop off location (EWR) was also overwhelmed and had no one available to discuss the situation with me. It was an expensive and very disappointing 8 hour car rental experience!

I landed at the airport and waited for the Payless shuttle van to show up. I saw the shuttle vans for Avis, Hertz, Alamo, etc. No Payless van. After 20 minutes, I tried to call the Payless location and they were closed. I had to rent another car from a company that was actually open (Avis). Please refund me my money for this rental since they were closed and I never picked up a car from them. Thanks.

Not much. Car was ok. Jeep conpass. But turns off everytime car stops. NO one told me this. Pulling out if lot in traffic. Thought car was stalling and on highway in traffic / was nerve racking - wish someone gave me a heads up warning that car turns off

Pick up was over 30 mins after I called from airport to get to car rental. 1 girl behind counter ( Brianna )was nice / the other was rude

Staff was incredibly friendly and easy to get the car at drop off and pick up.

Cons:

Pick Up at airport was much less than the other rental car companies. This company was MUCH farther than many of the other rental car companies and should be advertised as on site of the airport. Many of the other companies you can walk from the terminal to the rental company (and they had vans picking up 3-4x as much as this company) but this was at least a 5-10 minute drive.

The car ended up being”upgraded “ because they didn’t have the car we were supposed to receive. Everything was more expensive then what we had put on reserve online The cars upholstery was filthy with stains . The agent Sharon , had me place my CC card in the machine for approximately 5 min before doing anything then stated my “ card was declined”. I knew that was impossible, but my husband used his instead. I then spent over 1 hr with CC company on the phone for them to to tell my Cc card was fine and it was machine error I told her how the agent had me place card in machine for an extended period and company agreed that that could have been the problem. Then we noticed my husbands card had been double charged $415 twice and another $200(this we understood) but not the $415 twice. Today the charges are off except the original. Please tell me why you agree to a car that is$130 for not even a full day and you are charged $215? I understand we pre payed gas and easy pass but this seems like alot when you agree to $130 /day

Reserved a car for $300 and paid $146 up front. Went to dollar and they charged my card $800 and said I would be refunded on return. They refunded $200 and only charged $600 but never compensated or refunded the $146 I initially paid. The person disregarded my previous reservation, upcharged me for a car I didnt want, lied to my face, and rushed me out of the store so I couldnt ask questions. Idk how i ended up wtih kayak because I reserved with priceline and changed at dollar so now I think they scammed me by booking through another agency to up my fees and I have never in. my life had a worse customer service experience. Horrible. Dont do business with this company that scams its customers. Incredible waste of money and staff was unwilling to help.

Fairly easy pick up and easy drop off Car smelled like marijuana when I picked it up, that wasn’t good Guys at counters try to upsell insurance even though I had already prepaid. Tried to upsell road side assistance. The person in front of me I think was lied to by their agent.

Too much nonsense. They accept an online booking for "supplier choice" which was only $4 cheaper than me knowing which vehicle..then I get there and they tell me supplier choice is an EV. So they let me book a one way booking for less than 24 hours to drive hundreds of miles in an EV...wouldn't even be possible..its that kind of scam garbage I can't stand with these companies. So they charge me $36 more for a gas vehicle even though I can show them it was $4 more. Then the arm wrestling and lies about what insurance is required. I am just trying to get home, its exhausting to play the games.

HORRIBLE. . I landed in Philadelphia only to find they had closed at 11pm, and I was stranded. . My flight was set to get in at 10:30 and was a little late. I had 1) pre-paid for the car and 2) Checked in earlier that day (via an email from thrifty to speed up the time to get my car.) I had no other option other than to get a hotel room (got to bed at 1pm) and return the next morning. When I arrived at thrifty and told them what had happened there was NO apology. The response was that it is listed on their web site and I should have known, The woman then asked if I had booked through a third party and explained that they do not always post that information. Quite a lame excuse. These days, most people book through a third party and it is up to Thrifty to be sure any third party they use has all their information. I will never use them again. It was bad enough that I was stranded, but the lack of any remorse, apology and customer care was very unprofessional.

Customer service was not good. At pickup, customer service representative made it seem like I was required to have the insurance. I thought I had paid for everything up front then all of a sudden I have another $167 in insurance. It was very confusing. I will not be using Hertz again due to the fact it seemed like they were trying to get every cent out of you instead of working with you to give you a good car experience. If you pay ahead online they should not be trying to sell you more stuff at pickup that you don't need.

I showed up to pick up my car on Friday and there was a paper sign in the window saying they were closed early and I should come back on Monday. An employee at the location told me to go to the other Hertz location at the airport and they’d honor the reservation - they of course didn’t and I had to re-book a new contract at full price (a $500+ difference). Never again.

I went to the Hertz at the airport and they refused to switch my reservation(which was at essington ave) which was already paid for but because it was at a different location they would not help me. I was stranded at the airport with no car.

The purpose of the rental was to haul a new mattress. It would not fit in the tiny bed. The next size up in pick up truck would have doubled the price. The person working the counter was less than enthusiastic.

From the first click on-line, to being greeted at the reception desk to sign-in at the National counter to pick up the rental car....just incredible. Everyone on the National team was top notch in their attention to details, and their customer service: stellar, truly. To the attendant who finalized our transaction paperwork, to the team member who escorted us to our rental car...simply amazing. We were struck by National's competence and we vowed to never use any other service except the best: National. A model company that all others should be measured by...exemplary in every aspect.

My Chrysler 200 had a stain on the driver's seat and the interior smelled. The first car offered was a Nissan that someone had sprayed the gages on the dash with something that had dried and couldn't come off, making them unreadable. The woman at the counter gave me an attitude when she couldn't understand my email address. Never again National Car Rental!

The key stopped working the night before we were supposed to return it car cannot be locked unlocked or started other than to auxiliary power definitely threw a wrench in our plans and a little bit of stress as we had a 6 AM flight the next day luckily roadside assistance was able to deliver us a new car at 11 that night.

Pros:

I got a rental car on a day when there were almost zero options for rental cars at the airport.

Cons:

Waited 2 hours to get the reserved car, car exterior was damaged and severely needed washing, and finding the place was tough. It was the worst car rental experience I have had in 20 years.

Nothing! We never got a car!

Cons:

They don’t pick up where the other rental car companies pick up for a shuttle. But they also never told us this. So we’re waiting in the freezing cold waiting for a shuttle with our infant son for a while until I finally call customer service. They tell me i need to send a text message to a sketchy number to pick us up somewhere else in the airport! Huh?! So we do that and they never come! Seriously! Never come! We went to Alamo instead that night and they were wonderful. Do not trust this company. They are a scam!!!

We made reservation on 11/10. Landed at Philly at 5:30pm. Bad experience from first unable to find shuttle location. Waste almost 45mins to get to ez rental car office. Then was told no car available. (There are 3 customers there). Told us can give us ride to other car rental office. But the driver just dropped us back to the airport again. By the time we got car at other car rental lamo it was close to 8pm. Waste More than 2 hours to get reserved car from ez car rental at other car rental almo. What a joke. I could drive from Boston to Philly for same time and save $600 and headache. I will never rent a car from EZ.

My 1st time using Kayak and will be my last. I gave Kayak a chance and it was a mistake. I needed a rent car in Philadelphia and i booked through Kayak. My travel plans got delayed which caused me to arrive in Philly after 8 p.m. I found out that the EZ rental facility closed at 8pm and i wouldn't be there until 10pm. 8pm is not very late and it completely screwed up my rental plans. Because EZ rental wouldn't allow me to get my car after 8pm i attemped to cancel the kayak reservation and they absolutely would not refund my money despite my unfortunate circumstances. So now I have to pay over $200 for a rental i didn't even use. The worst part is i STILL had to pay to get another car rental elsewhere on top of my Kayak rental. I gave Kayak a chance and I am very disappointed that i did. I wouldn't have any bad feelings if kayak would just refund my money for a rental that i wasn't able to use. When i found out my travel plans were going to be delayed I tried to cancel my rental before it started and still kayak wouldnt work with me. I would understand more if i missed the rental completely but i let them know before i was scheduled to even begin my rental.

We lost my husbands sister and had to get to De for a funeral, When we arrived there was a line to pick up car. Only one person to take care of the customer. We got taken care of bye a lady. she was doing the best she could being the only one there. we went to the car , looked it over and had no idea how to start the car, we do not have a car that you dont need a key to start. So we had no idea how to start it. we looked it over the car was dirty and I went in to ask for help. As I said she was alone. I asked her if there was anyone to help us she said no just her she would be out in a few minutes. She came out explined you must put your foot on brake to start the car. My husband thought the car ran rough . itdid not feel right we found out that a front tire and a rear tire had only 12 lbs of air in them we put air in them and it was much better. the drop off was bad also . we had a 6 am flight back home she had explained to us we go to a little building and there will be someone to check us back in after hours. when we arrived at 4 am there was no one there so we had to take a ticket to get in and park the car. there as a shuttle coming through at the time so we got on and told him what happened , we ended up giving the keys to him. he assured us he would take care of it. I called later that afternoon and explained what happened and they kinda got nasty about us giving the keys and leaving the car in the wrong spot. she said she would check with the driver. he had returned the key. I received an email all was ell . and it could take up to 21 days to get my deposit back. I will never use this company again. they were ok in the emergency but never again.

The gal at check in was very nice.

Cons:

Car smelled like cigarettes. A caution air tire pressure light was on at all times, but there was a little not that said to ignore the light. This was a little worrisome.

pricing was one thing

Cons:

. a little seedy. car was not clean inside or out. the rental signing process a little outdated and in an uncomfortable setting. In the end, the pricing was not that much cheaper than the nationals/brand names. The policy about the rental period is strict. severe penalty for dropping off after 24 hour period...so ridiculous that I uber'ed to a couple places after I returned the car. My flight came in early and I picked up an hour earlier than anticipated but was leaving at my expected time 26 hours later. 2 extra hours was double the cost.

Cons:

Had to call to find out that we wanted the Colonial Airport Parking shuttle after we waited for a while hoping for a Rent-A-Wreck shuttle. Car smelled like cigarette smoke and windows were a bit foggy on the inside. The office wasn't marked The guys at the drop off place weren't particularly helpful with my questions.

Cons:

The dispatcher were rude! The van was in need of maintenance - exampke, wipers were old and cracked. It was a big hassle to get into the lot and find the car. The lot attendant was very rude! As my wife concluded, they have ZERO customer service.
