Staff were very nice and helpful. Once we made it to the rental facility pick up was very easy. Dropping off the car on the way out was also very easy. The car itself was nice and clean.Airport shuttle only comes every 30 minutes. We just missed it so were waiting a full 30 minutes before it came to take us to the rental facility.

Shuttle never showedAt th me curb, the PDX airport employee told me that Payless’ shuttle shows up “about every 30 minutes”, and this was at 2pm. I tried to call Payless, multiple times, and found it impossible to talk to any person at all. I just wanted to let them know I was waiting. So I simply walked away from the reservation. Renting from Payless was a bad idea.

Horrible experienceWe decided to upgrade to a larger vehicle at check-in and were quoted one price. Then at drop off, the price had over tripled. The communication was horrible, and we ended up spending way more than originally planned. Make sure you ask for everything in writing

Kayak website is not correct, will book directly with car rental in fuPayless representatives was good, I am giving low rating due to website being incorrect and customer service not helpful.When selecting car, requested pickup at airport terminal, paid more, but car rental was not at airport but had to take shuttle to off site lot.

Closed when our flight got thereThe car was clean and comfortableDidn’t realize the office was almost 3 miles from the airport. We waited on a shuttle for 45 minutes and then found out the office was closed. The nice person at the Avis desk was finally able to help us

Could have been better about dropoff information accuracyDuring pickup, one employee was very helpful and pleasant. Rate was correct and although car had close to 40000 miles on it, car ran well(but had stains inside and torn flooring).Told that since offsite at Portland airport and last Sunday shuttle was at 6:40 pm, I could return it after that at Budget or Avis. Since it was about 6:40 when I was near return, I went straight to Budget (also offsite). I had to wait in line of people picking up cars for about 15-20 minutes (was advised Budget couldn’t check car in like all othe rental companies at point of return), then waited about another 10-15 minutes for employee to confirm that Budget wouldn’t check in car and I’d have to go to Avis, drove to Avis (onsite) and had to go to office there and finally got it checked in. Made for a tighter run to catch plane than expected. Disappointing lack of coordination and helpfulness by Payless and Budget

The car was fine and the service was good on site. Everyone was very helpful. The cost of the car was by far the most inexpensive.When trying to find out if they cover a car in Canada, I could not get an answer, in fact, the staff was rude and uncooperative. When I asked for a supervisor, they would not refer me to one. When I contacted corporate, they would not resolve the issue either. We did not know if the car would be covered until we reached the site. We had to make other plans for driving in Canada before we made our trip, because there was no certainty if we would be able to drive there. When we reached the site, they said quite nicely, "certainly you can drive in Canada.." Why could they not tell us this before we made our trip?
