Very bad experience, car booked on the internet with verification of several details (minimum age, card accepted ...). Once arrived at the counter the person asks us the name of our hotel, the name of our car insurance of our state, strange, after it is possible. Then she asks us for our card to pay, looks at our card and tells us it's ok, and 10min later, tells us she wants a credit card and not a debit card. While we checked that it was accepted after the reservation, and that it was well mentioned, debit accepted. So we lost 20 min, even more because we had to go to another agency to take another car, because hotel booked, ... more than 3 hours away.Reviewed 2023 Apr 10

I rented from the downtown Portland Hertz office instead of at the airport due to large price difference. When I called the Hertz agent to find out which Max tram stop was closest to the office, the agent did not know where the Hertz office was located relative to the tram line. That would be helpful information.Reviewed 2022 Nov 02

Pick up was a nightmare, got sent back and forth up and down to 2 different floors, eventually got sent to a pick up area and was told 'go to area 3'. We go and there's nobody there...we come back...'which car is ours'...and are told 'just take any car'. So we take a car that is the size we wanted, are told it's fine then as we leave the parking lot, a woman scans the car and tells us it's not driveable, so we have to go back in and find another car and rinse and repeat. It was a pretty poor experience, par for the course with hertz.Reviewed 2022 Oct 21

Hertz Pine Street location is in a very seedy area and I felt uncomfortable as a woman alone. Only 4 blocks walk to the metro train to the airport if you don't mind walking near homeless tent encampments on the sidewalks.Reviewed 2022 Oct 18
