Royal Ramblas Hotel Review “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” The Good: Location on La Rambla-walking distance to many restaurants, markets, and tourist sites. Breakfast was very good. The Bad: Check-in and room refurbishing. Check-out is at noon. Cruise ships dock at about 8AM and other tourists show up for check-in during the morning. All ask if there is early check-in or how long the wait will be. Unfortunately, the lobby agents tell tourists to expect an email when the room is ready, implying check-in will be sooner than it actually is: 3-5 hours. The lobby is then crammed with waiting guests and their luggage. The lobby agents should be honest and transparent, indicating how long the wait will be. Room refurbishing-my wife and I do not speak Spanish and were placed in an older room with a “non”-Sharp television that had no English-speaking channels. The air conditioning did not work well either so we were moved to a refurbished Smart TV room with three English speaking channels. Because this room was smaller, we were given a discount and partial refund. Thank you. However, the AC in this room was erratic; although we left room card key in slot and AC set for 22C, temp went up to 34C at night. The Ugly: Housekeeping, as if none. We had to call the front desk multiple times to have housekeeping come to replace used towels. Once a maintenance man brought up clean towels. Housekeeping showed up once in three days to make the bed. This is a real problem.
