ACCEPTABLE BUDGET HOTEL
Helpful and pleasant staff. When I asked for a room change because of cigarette smoke odor, I got it immediately. Clean facilities, although the walk in through the hutong is a little gritty. A staff member came out to meet me at a restaurant near the hutong entrance and walked me in. Hotel is very near a subway station: Beijing Railroad Station (line 2 subway). Electric kettle available in room but now fridge.
No elevator access to my fourth floor room. The hotel is not easy to find. Most taxi drivers will drop passengers at the entrance to the hutong where the hotel is located (a short walk in). It is wise to get the address of a nearby landmark to tell the driver.
Very close to the central train station and the metro
It is not easy to find, especially for taxi driver, so if you are going to take a taxi to the hotel upon arrival in Beijing, I would recommend phoning the hotel and getting a member of staff to give the taxi driver directions. There are no lifts at the hotel so we had to carry our suitcases all the way down two flights of stairs. The level of English amongst the staff varied and not as good as I had expected, but for the basics they were fine.
The hotel is central situated and close to the Subway, Tiananmen square and the shopping-street Wangfujing. We got bottled-water every day and the hotelrestaurant served good and reasonable-priced dinner. It is right next to a Police-station,so the area is safe.
We arrived in a peiod of refurbishing and was not told when we checked in. We had booked an apartment with two bedrooms for 3 weeks. After a week we were told two move in to two separate rooms on the very same day without any compensation. It´s not easy getting a 2bedroom-apartment in Beijing or connecting rooms, and we booked it because we wanted to stay together as a group. We really had to argue with most of the staff and the manager before we came to an agreement.Their lack of English made it worse to communicate. In the hotels ad on internet, they said that the guests have cooking-possibilities, this is not true!! You only have a tea-/coffee-maker!!!!!!!
For me very important location.
this is beijing's best-kept secret! superb location (6 minute walk to the subway: railway station), delicious buffet breakfast (rich in veggies), nice staff, great bargain, safe (60 feet from the police station, i counted the steps!). not in a slum area as what others contended, but in a hutong.
TV not working, but i did not care since i was out most of the time anyway.
all ok
value for money
Nothing
This was the worse hotel I have ever stayed in and would never recommend it to anyone and it was totally misrepresented on the website. I have filed a compliant.
It was a great oppurtunity to experience the real Beijing as you have to walk down the hutong past the local to access the hotel. We also enjoyed the dining room food and atmosphere. The ability to hire a computer with internet access was very affordable and conveinient.
Some people smoking in non-smoking areas, Beds were very very hard!
Exceptional value for the money. Great location, great restaurant in the hotel is very convenient and reasonably priced. Staff was very helpful.
Beds were very clean and large, but were not terribly comfortable. Perhaps this is just a matter of taste, but they were very firm.
the hotel reception was very good and helpfull, helping with difficult travel arrangements during the spring festival. the computer in the room was a good bonus I was able to loan a plug addaptor at no charge. the breakfast was plentyfull if very chinese
the room was far too hot and opening the window was useless as it opened into a bar area. there was a slight sewage smell in the toilet ( not unusuall in china )
