Beautiful Place! Food not great
The hotel was beautiful and peaceful. The beach was amazing and had plenty of comfy beach chairs with shade. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The food wasn't very good.
Not quite as expected
Staff over-all were helpful and friendly. Location was very nice on a very clean and beautiful beach. Lobby bar (drinks only) was available all hours. Service was good at the lobby bar. Cecelia and Eliseo were especially accommodating, helpful, and very personable. We enjoyed visiting with them.
The rules/schedule for food were SO strict that we often didn't get to eat. First night we went to every place on site and the neighboring property and were not able to get a single thing to eat. We had anticipated being able to sit outside on the beach and have a drink. That was not available either. There is one pool bar and a snack bar there, but everything serving outdoors closes by 5:15/5:30. Day 2 I walked up to the snack bar (which still had food on it) at about 5:20 and was told it was closed. At the same time my husband was at the pool bar trying to get a couple of drinks and was told they were closed. We walked around for a bit, and as we went to go back inside to at least get a drink, we saw a tray of drinks being delivered to others at the pool. Granted, those might have been ordered prior to 5:20 when my husband walked up, but if they were still making drinks, giving us a couple (only ones we had asked for at all that day) should have been done since it was prior to 5:30. The lobby bar was open, but we tried to order some food there and were told we could not. ??? We were told there is "24 hour" room service, but that has to be ordered to your room (where you can not be out enjoying the facilities). And NOTE we did go to our room and tried repeatedly to call room service and no one ever answered that night! Food quality was 'ok' but nothing special.
Fun and clean
Food, staff, rooms, clean,
Little away from club zone and mall
Not at all what we expected. Not at all.
Last minute travel and enjoyed every minute to the
My girlfriend and I decided to go last minute to Cancun. We went for 3 nights and we stayed at the gr caribe solaris. Our experience was awesome and we had stayed at the gr solaris before. The gr caribe solaris hotel reminded us of Greece. The hotel is very clean, staff is very friendly, food and drinks were ok. The pool and beach were awesome. Furthermore, i liked the fact that i can go to the other Solaris Resorts and use there facilities as well such as the gym, pools, restaurants and bars at no extra cost. That alone made the experience more enjoyable giving our getaway a better experience. Thank you everyone at at all GR Solaris Resorts. We are definitely going back next month for another 3 night getaway. One other thing, dont be cheap and TIP the staff even if its a dollar. Thank you again, a couple from the Windy City, CHICAGO, IL.
Our experience was great and if your a complainer than you should pay more if you expect more. Life is to short to complain and with that said, make the best of your VACATION. The hard working people in these resorts work hard to make our vacation experience pleasurable and enjoyable. Our model is were do you go were you can sleep, eat, drink, swim, tan, and more for whatever cost or deal you pay at any of these resorts. Not back home! Bcuz, there is no all inclusive!! With that said, have fun everyone and make the best of your vacation.
older resort but relaxing quiet stay
food was mediocre, best bet was steak entrees and the grill during lunchtime, staff was friendly.
internet expensive (14-16USD/day), alcohol was cheap quality (only a few top shelf liquors), walls/doors are thin so you can hear noisy neighbors. agree with previous reviewer regarding tipping...saw it all over the place and it reflected in the service provided if the staff didn't think you'd tip. tipping should be more discreet at all inclusive resorts to try and maintain a level of quality service regardless of extras.
Great view. Clean, good location.
No internet service. Each day i have to pay $16.
Great place for a family but a little slow for a y
The location is great. Beach and water are beautiful. Staff is friendly. Food is okay. Room service is 24hrs and is good. One of the 6 days of our stay we had drink service on the beach and that was nice.
Although the lobby bar is open 24 hrs nothing is going on. You might find a couple other people around after 10. The pools and hot tubs close at 8:30 :( my biggest complaint is the noise in the room. You can here EVERY sound your neighbors make and any noise from the hallway. The blinds do very little to block light so plan on being up early! One other thing men must where long pants and shoes to dinner. We like getting dressed up but having an opinion for something more casual would be nice.
Outstanding service and staff
Dirty rooms. Developed a rash :(
Okay hotel- But there are better choices in Cancun
The staff in the restaurants and lobby bar were attentive and friendly.
We traveled as a last minute get-way and are an active couple in our early 50's. The room was not quiet, every noise, such as people passing in the hall or in the room above seemed loud. They advertise a pillow menu, however, only had one type of pillow and it was a child size pillow. They advertise turn-down service. We never received turn-down service and when we asked about it at the reception desk the clerk did not know what we were asking about. This is not a hotel for people with mobility issues. The pool is small with a step down ladder like one might have at their home pool. There are several steps to get down to the beach. Beach drink service was spotty. We have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts over the years, at least 15, and the tipping here was beyond bizarre! I think it is because it is partial time-share occupants and partial regular hotel occupants, but, people were tipping for everything. I have never witnessed this at other all-inclusive resorts. At other resorts if you want to tip it is done more discreetly to the specific person who provided you outstanding service.
AMAZING Value
Picked this place as it seemed to have the best reviews vs. price. For what we paid (mid-Nov), I think it was amazing. I've stayed at all-inclusives and resorts across the board. I did not expect great food, and I promise you can find amazing food here. Keep in mind this is a mid-priced all-inclusive place. Yes the buffets aren't great but there is truly very good food to be found at the smaller restaurants. The small pool at GR Caribe is very quiet and comfortable, while the next door Royal Solaris (which you have access to) is larger and a bit more fun. Finally, the entire staff - bartenders, servers, concierge, everyone were amazing. Friendly, attentive, fun - I was a little surprised that the service was as good as it was. Overall, most of the positive reviews on this site are very accurate. We are in our late-20's and found the mix of people when we went in November to be very good. A few families, younger as well as older couples. A relaxing fun scene, definitely not a party, but we had a great time. Would definitely recommend.
Rooms were ok. Biggest complaint was our double beds (requested king) were very uncomfortable and we were on the first floor lobby and it was loud until late at night then early in the morning. But then again, we paid via a pretty amazing deal and we are in our upper-20's so it was not a big deal.
The GR Caribe is a charming resort located in Cancun, Mexico. The GR Caribe by Solaris features Mediterranean architecture and is a perfect getaway for a romantic or family vacation. There are seven different types of cuisine to enjoy each day of the week. The Café Solaris offers savory breakfast foods, fresh fruit and coffee, pastries and many Mexican foods. Kids can enjoy the water parks all day long. They are themed after Noah’s ark and kids can swim around zebras, elephants and giraffes. There is a shallow pool for young children and they are supervised by staff who also offer fun games and activities. Older kids will also love the climbing wall.
The entertainment is spectacular in Cancun. The Mayan Show, Broadway productions, and Latin shows are some of the choices that tourists can choose from.
This vacation is all inclusive and includes the rooms, tips and taxes, meals, drinks and snacks, transportation to and from the nearby airport, as well as multiple other amenities. Activities and entertainment are also included. There is fun for the entire family or for the cozy romantic getaway.
