Traditional style hotel and service, the sat afternoon have worked there for a long time and therefore care that the guests are being looked after. Very quiet location.
Although the squeaky floor boards are quaint they can be a bit of a nuisance at night!
We were given a cottage room. Outstanding
It was great as a halfway stop for us, i also found the hotel very relaxing but family oriented at the same time. We will be back :)
We had Breakfast delivered to room and there was no where to put tray apart from bed which is not ideal when you have children and wasn't to impressed with breakfast!
The location to Carlisle was very convenient as we were en route to Scotland. Closeness to a railway station means we may visit again and travel on public transport. Setting and food great.
location of the hotel and the general feeling of the hotel made it an enjoyable stay.
Everything would have been good except there was a wedding on and the noise kept us awake till gone midnight. Our room was directly over the reception and it would have been better if we were elsewhere in the hotel.
very pleasant staff, clean rooms, lovely village/country location
steam room was out of order, only 5 choices of main course in the restaurant at night time.
The quality of the food and wine in the bar area was of a lower standard than we expected
nice well planned room. good reception and dining room staff. good pool and health centre.
had to step out in rain to reach main part of hotel from room.
Staff ensured there was a good atmosphere throuout. Leasure facilities were better maintained than a lot of the larger more expensive chain hotels we have stayed at.
Even the downside of a wedding reception was well managed as we were given a room as far away from the event as possible.
Staff were friendly and willing to listen
