Pros: The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean. I would whole-heartedly recommend the Hotel Etnea 316 to anyone thinking of visiting Carania. Also, take the guided tour that Marco does, it was terrific.
Cons: The shower is small. Like barely large enough to be usable small. However, this is Europe, and it's to be expected.
Solsicily is set just a 15-minute walk from the coast and its beautiful beaches. Featuring free Wi-Fi throughout, it offers elegant en suite rooms with a private balcony, and an extensive buffet-style breakfast. Each room is spacious and has a unique décor. All rooms are air conditioned and provided with a TV, a sofa, and a work desk. Breakfast is served daily and consists of sweet and savoury products, including eggs, cold cuts, and sweet pastries. Catania Cathedral is less than 1 km from the Solsicily B&B. Catania Fontanarossa Airport is a 10-minute drive away.

Pros: I was given a room in an adjacent building and ended up being locked in the building. I was charged for a large room which I had not requested which almost doubled the rate. As a solo traveler, I didn't feel safe in the building and didn't sleep. The decor needs upgrades, it's not at all cozy or warm.

Pros: Breakfast was very good. The staff were very obliging and kind to us when we arrived very late due to a delayed flight. They directed us to park our hire car and took good care of watching it.

Pros: Location
Cons: Broken lights, broken mini bar, broken sink. Room was run down, staff sullen and unfriendly. No help with broken facilities. A three night stay not long enough for them to get anything done. Staff at breakfast looked suicidal. Not a great experience all round. Only good thing is the location, close to everything in catania.

Pros: Outstanding breakfast and food.
Cons: Unable to control the temperature of my room. What's the point of having A/C controls in the room if they do not work and are controlled by reception? Totally unacceptable for a supposed 4 star hotel. I must have called reception about 5-7 times because my room was too warm. I kept getting told that the temperature for my room specifically was lowered which is untrue. I chose this hotel because of its proximity to the airport, I was hoping for a good night's sleep and didn't get it. Extremely annoyed.

Pros: Good location. Generally pleasant and helpful staff. quick response from room service. Excellent potato and mushroom soup in the restaurant!!. Except for the bathroom safety issue, the room was good and when no opener was available for the minibar, one was quickly supplied along with the room service. We had a great view of Etna from our room that afternoon--an unexpected plus after spending ten days in other parts of Sicily.
Cons: Downgraded you on "facilities" primarily on the safety issue. Like all European hotels, no one seems to make it easy for older people to get in and out of the shower/tub safely. Besides the wall bar, there are hold bars that fasten to the edge of a tub which are helpful in getting out. I have seen some here in the US, don't think I saw any in European hotels. Also square toilet seat was a surprise--we even took a photo because we had never seen such before--but I don't find that it is very comfortable to sit on!

Pros: Room was a nice size and it was clean.
Cons: Steph was unfriendly and unhelpful. Also, shuttle bus was full when we needed it. We needed to get to the airport at 5 o'clock in the morning. That's why we stayed at the hotel! Had to take a taxi for $20 instead.

Pros: Room was large and clean but next to some staff room at the very end of the hall downstairs so could hear loud talking. The location is good for travelers having to fly in and out of Catania airport. The hotel has a shuttle for 5 Euros.
Cons: At a minimum coffee or tea should be provided for guests no matter even if they paid less than another guest. The hotel is not near restaurants and cafes so you would have to leave the hotel to go to a cafe.
