Bed bugs
The location is great
My son was covered in bedbug bites
We had a delightful stay and would thoroughly recommend Egan's House to anyone wanting to stay in Dublin. Rooms, service and food were all excellent.
was very quiet and family atmosphere
Very difficult to find so far from city center
We had stayed at Egans House over the New Year 2009/2010 and found it very comfortable and with excellent facilities. This was the main reason for booking again. However, the facilities are now very poor, with everything that was previously free of charge now being an expensive extra- see below- and we shall not be returning. It's a shame, we liked it very much before.
Everything that was previously included in the room price- parking, breakfast, wi-fi and tea and coffee making facilities- is now a chargeable extra. We were aware of most of these at the time of booking, and found we could park in the road next to the hotel for nothing anyway, but were not prepared for the fact that there are now no kettles in the rooms, and that the tea and coffee previously available free of charge in the lounge is now charged at 2 euros for a cardboard cup of hot water from a machine, into which a tea bag or sachet of coffee can be inserted....we did not make use of this, prefering to get hot drinks much cheaper elswhere in Dublin. It was very, very disappointing, and put quite a dampener on our stay.
the reception was nice. chess and DVD in the living room. we were 3 people living in a 6 bed room.
I was not sure how to change the temp. of shower water. coffee machine in the living room was out of use. the reception didn't know I had changed the booking detail. should have updated the booking more frequently.
cheap and cheerful
no tea making facilities in room
Enjoyed our stay at htis hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff they were very friendly and helpful . The hotel was clean, the breakfast lovely. Pub nearby again very freindly staff with excellent food. Pleasant walk into the centre of Dublin which took about 30 minutes so taxi back!
Location was good. Having PC access was useful. No queues when checking in or out.
Shower was a dribble, shampoo was in those awful hard to open plastic sachels, TV was 12" (tiny), room was small and neither modern nor authentic. Breakfast was self serve so quick.
The staff were excellent. They were polite and extremely helpful. They couldn't do enough to help. Breakfast was good.
The heater in the room was broken and had been replaced with an electric heater which wasn't really sufficient. The room was tiny and in the eves of the house, meaning I had to stoop to walk. I didn't complain about these issues so I don't know what they would have done about them.
Close to do the airport and city center. I enjoyed my stay at the Egan House and recommend others to stay there.
Its location is pretty convenient for a wee city break, bus stops are very close and it only takes 10-15 min to get to town (Temple Bar, O'Conell St, Trinity College,...). The heating works perfect and breakfast is delicious.
The double room was a bit small and the shower head is fixed to the wall so you can't take it off, besides the water pressure was a bit low.
Just 10 minutes' walk from Drumcondra Railway Station, Egans House has a convenient location, making it an ideal base while in Dublin. It also offers free wireless internet.
There are a range of facilities on offer to guests of Egans Guesthouse Dublin, such as luggage storage, a tour desk and a ticket service. It also provides a designated smoking area and a garden.
Egans House has 23 rooms that are fitted with all the essentials to ensure an enjoyable stay. They are also equipped with cable/satellite channels, a hair dryer and ironing facilities.
The guest house offers an on-site bar, where guests can enjoy a drink either indoors or alfresco on the outdoor terrace. There is also the added convenience of an on-site restaurant.
