Overview
Woodland House hotel is a grade B listed Georgian mansion on the edge of the market town of Dumfries. Set amongst a secluded rural landscape the family-run hotel offers free private on-site parking. Guests are greeted on arrival by a period fireplace in the large hallway and can enjoy the warm log fires in the bar and dining room. Bedrooms at the hotel are spacious and fitted with bespoke hardwood furniture. The en suite tiled bathrooms are large in size and contemporary in design. Several golf courses surround Dumfries and are within 5 miles of the hotel. A tributary of the River Nith runs near Woodland House and offers a good opportunity for fishing. The forests of Mabie and Ae are both within 15 miles of the hotel and are great places for cycling and rambling.

“Lovely family run hotel where the owners really care about guests. We ended up staying not out of choice but because our car broke down and we had to find somewhere nearby at last minute together with piles of Christmas presents, luggage and our dog. The owners and their son went out of their way to help and provided dinner despite the fact the kitchen was closing. Room very comfortable, spotlessly clean and the breakfast was wonderful. Would not hesitate to stay again if in the Dumfries area”
“Everything went well. We were meet by a very warm friendly lady who was also very informative. The barman/ waiter was exceptionally l and friendly. Our meal was delicious, our steaks cooked to perfection. Our room was so comfortable, spacious and very clean. If we were to stay longer than one night we would definately book the suite because we like to lounge! We have certainly passed on to friends what a lovely hotel this is.”
“The hotel was quiet, set in its own grounds on the outskirts of town. The room was spacious with quality furniture and modern bathroom. The dining room was airy with a lovely view. The food was piping hot, beautifully prepared from local ingredients and reasonably priced. Plenty of car parking space. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was conveniently situated for us soon after crossing the border into Scotland. The surrounding area was beautiful with autumn leaves beginning to turn and we enjoyed outdoor activities including an RSPB reserve on the Solway Firth and a National Trust for Scotland garden.”
