Cons:Bedroom was irritating. Numerous lightbulbs flickered. There was a sewer smell in the room when we arrived. There was air leakage at our window which caused cold draughts all night and meant we heard everything going on in the service yard below which disturbed my sleep. The heating/ air system was poor and the room was either too stiff or cold and I had to keep getting up to change the controls. Hotel was very quiet too, why they gave us this room was strange or thoughtless.
Cons:The location is a little further from the city center than I initially anticipated, but it wasn't a huge problem. It was about a 15-20 minute walk to the Edinburgh Castle and 20-30 if walking at a brisk pace to George St, Princes St, etc. where all the shops are. There isn't much to do around the hotel itself, particularly at night - it seems like a business neighborhood + convention center next door.
