Pros: Service was spectacular, room beautiful, clean, CJ at the pool bar was phenomenal, made us feel like we were at a true VIP resort, very knowledgeable, helpful attentive. The bellman was awesome that brought luggage to our room, front desk fabulous. People greeting off the boardwalk super friendly. All around amazing. Room service great, I worked in hotels for many years, so I usually can see the operational problems, but this Hotel was amazing, thanks for giving us the 5 star treatment, we will be back with our whole family, highly recommend!!

Pros: I loved the room! Very clean and quiet with a nice modern look. Having the beach and boardwalk so close is a huge bonus. A lot of the shops on the boardwalk were open WAY later than I expected them to be seeing as it was during the week. I will definitely be using this hotel again.
Cons: The only downfall I came across was the late check in procedure. My plane was delayed 2 hours, so by the time I got to the hotel the office was closed. I was a bit uncomfortable with my room key just being in an envelope in a box where anybody could have grabbed it. (I didn't realize that the office closed at 11pm, but that was my fault for not double checking. I had originally scheduled a late check in, but would have been there before 10 so that conversation never came up.)

Pros: I specifically requested a first floor room near the beach due to the fact that I have two very young children and they went above and beyond a provided my family with the cottage room closest to the boardwalk/beach! I absolutely love this property and my mother and I want to spend at least one weekend a month, if not every other month, at this property!

Cons: Not all front desk staff wore masks. When asked, they refused to comply. The safe in the room was broken. We had a very large roach in the shower when we came back to our room on Tuesday. A bulb in the bathroom was not repaired after we requested the repair. Cleaning of our room did not occur until very late in the afternoon. After a day at the beach we wanted to shower but couldn’t because the housekeeper was there at about 4pm.

The location can't be beat, right on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, steps from the beach. Everything you need for your stay is in walking distance. Fly into FLL and 15 minutes late and $13 shared cab ride later you are enjoying everything South Florida has to offer.

Not the same Diplomat we remember. We’ve been staying at the Diplomat for 18 years. Ever since we were married here in Jan 2004 when it was a Starwood Westin property. We have tried coming back at least for a week each year. This year has been difficult because it’s not the same Dip. The resort is way overcrowded and the staff is swamped. That said, the hotel staff has been excellent under obvious extreme stress. They all need raises for the service they have provided and the way they have handled guest frustrations. And there are a LOT of frustrated guests. I’ll bullet point my frustration: - 45 min line to check in at 8pm. 2 staff members working the front desk - towel shortages resort wide. My room was serviced and we were left a single towel. Limited towels at the pool and beach if you can get them. Not enough towels by the pool or beach. 1/4 of the chair covers required to cover all the chairs. - only restaurants open are Diplomat Prime (only 4 days per week) and the Playa restaurant by the pool. - we saw no references to restaurants being closed prior to booking or in any communication from hotel. - in app messages were never returned - as a Diamond HHonors member, I was given upgrade selections prior to check in that were not honored at check in. I selected a Corner Ocean Suite, which we didn’t receive at check in. - beach is serviced by 1 waiter for the entire beach - pool, beach staff, and cabana rentals have all been outsource to 3rd party company, which have increased prices and reduced quality of customer service. - Bud, the pool manager walked away from me in conversation, as I explained that the beach staff gave my 5 reserved chairs away to other guests including the 2 umbrellas we were paying for. He then continued to try and sell me a beach bed for $200 saying the normal price is $300 (normal price is $200). He continued pushing the beach bed after I explained repeatedly that I just want my 5 chairs and 2 umbrellas that I paid for. Apparently this is. It an uncommon practice here at the Diplomat since the pool and beach service has been outsourced. If you leave your chairs, the staff will turn them over for new paying guests. If you rented an umbrella for the day at $22/day, you’ll lose your umbrella as well. - it’s impossible to get chairs by the pool unless you’re willing to venture down at 6am to claim chairs and place personal items on the chairs. Hoping they won’t be taken by other guests as you enjoy your breakfast that is delivered by Uber Eats since there are no viable breakfast options on property with the restaurant closures. - pool area under the upper infinity pool is being renovated and completely blocked off directly under. No renovations were listed on site or in our booking. - valet is completely disorganized. Depending on the time your looking to retrieve your car, it could take 45 mins. The whole driveway is a disorganized mess of cars. And they took away the option of calling down or texting for your car ahead of time. - it’s a shame. The Diplomat holds a very special place for our family, and it’s frustrating. there are several other things that have made our “relaxing” annual vacation to the Dip not very relaxing this year. - we come here to relax, but simple things like finding breakfast, or even getting a cup of coffee has become something you need to strategize and plan for. That’s not the way it should be. Especially when prices don’t reflect the limited services the Diplomat is offering at this time.

Cons: Rooms had only 2 towels and I had 4 people in my party. I ended up asking for more towels. I had to beg for toilet paper every time. Didn’t like the fact that we had to wear bracelets as if we were in an all inclusive resort when we were not. They didn’t want us to talk loud or laught a lot in our rooms. I have children and I had to constantly tell them to whisper because they didn’t want noise in the room. Very disappointed with this hotel. Too expensive for it’s quality.

We have stayed here about 5 yrs ago and everything was perfect. Everything is still very well kept ,but the hotel is starting to show signs of wear. So, the renovation is on time. Finish date is Fall 2016. I can't wait to see it. We will be back. Hotel very crowded and busy this holiday weekend.

Pros: Like anyone else, i wasn't confident enough to stay here but I was looking for anything cheap for an overnight stay. Glad I chose this place, the experience was good in shared dorms (more than expected), secured and convenient place to stay.

Cons: Our reservation was canceled even though it shouldn't have been. When we arrived, they were full so we had to pay for another hotel. I need to speak to someone about a refund. Thank you.

Pros: The staff was super friendly, they recognized me by name every time I walked in the hotel. It was just a girlfriend and I staying here during our college spring break and we felt extremely safe while staying here which is important for a couple of females when in a place they have never been before. The pool area was somewhere we hadn't planned on using much since the beach is so close but we had some windier days while visiting so the pool was the perfect solution since it's more protected from the wind. The hotel is only a short walking distance from the boardwalk, restaurants, and Walmart so you have lots of stuff right close by if you don't have a car and don't want to pay for a cab. The hotel is also one of the stops for the water taxi so that can also get you most of the places along the board walk using that.
Cons: The $18 self parking fee per night was kind of ridiculous to me. I loved the fact that it had a security gate although people could still walk past it. The self parking area didn't have a side entrance so you had to walk back around to the front of the hotel which wasn't that far of a walk but what bothered me the most is it wasn't well lit area. Other than that though, we had an overall great stay!

Pros: Across the road from the beach. Room was clean. The pool on the waterfront was cool. Water taxi came to the hotel and was only $26 for an all day pass.
Cons: The noise from the elevator. Only 3 doors down but still was quite loud. Area was away from the bars and restaurants. Needed to get an taxi to most places.

Pros: My wife asked for an extra blanket and the Russian lady that was behind the counter told her that she'd already given her one . It didn't go over very well with my wife . For the amount of money that we paid for a night, you think that we can take please get two blankets. Towels in room and pool are used in other hotels are dish towels. Takes two towels to dry off.

Checked in at 3 a.m. “we didn’t think you were coming we booked you room to someone else” asked for the difference in refund, they don’t offer refunds. Tried to talk to manager on three occasions “not here” or “on a break” I didn’t not receive my $80 difference for a room by the pool. Showers are not hardly warm at best. I watched a house keeper pick a hair off a towel and hand it to me. Only good thing is price and location.

Cons: During our five day stay, the staff was unprofessional, apathetic, and at times even rude to us. We did not feel like welcome our valued guests, but rather simply a source of income for them. Being that they are in such a great location and that their rates are reasonable, they probably don't care or have to worry about the service they give...it's unfortunate but true. At least we done have to stay there again, and will not be.

Pros: I have stayed here a few times now, it is stones throw from the beach. My experience is that for the money, I have yet to find a better value. I think others mis communicate cleanliness and older. It is clean and sterile. However, the buildings are older and worn but still okay. I would recommend staying. I liked the free Internet.

Pros: Walking distance to beach. The local efficiency hotel have been gobbled up by one company. They are planning to knock down all the hotels they own and erect a large hotel. The properties are minimally maintained. Rooms were decorated in the 70’s. If you compare staying at their hotels to camping , you will be very satisfied.
