Everything was excellent except the room was on the small side. But it was doable for a couple.
The vibe was great. Rooms spacious and clean. Loved the historical aspects of Hawaii on the walls. Pool area great for kids. Front desk great. Calvin who brought in our luggage was terrific. Liked the specials for the restaurant. Really nice bartenders.
Breakfast in the restaurant was pricey. Door keycard locks didn't always open and door for one of our rooms stuck.
Okay for being under construction
The location was the best part. Only a block away from the beach and a few blocks from the huge mall so overall good location.
This hotel is under major renovations. Which we knew for the most part going in. What we didn’t know was that we would be put on the floor right below from where they were actually working on and we’d be woken up everyday at 5:45am with banging and super loud noise. It makes no sense why they didn’t just place us on a higher floor that was completed already to avoid such a uncomfortable stay.
The room was still neat and clean for as old as it is. I am looking forward to seeing the makeover this summer. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Air conditioner did not cool the room ..I realized this when I got there. The maintainence man said it needed to run for an hour to cool the room.I knew that this was not the answer...it was just a crappy air conditioner.I let it run for 4 hours and room was not cooled. They offered me a new room but it was late so I had to use a fan.
Love the pool and location!!
Nothing fancy, but clean and close to the beach and park. Also, you can score choose by free parking in the park too.
Right on the edge of Waikiki, across from the zoo and close to the beach and ocean.
A little outdated in the rooms. Room was very tiny.
The staff was amazing and very helpful and as nice as they could be. Very very friendly.
Road/street noise was a bit loud. Can't beat the price, location or staff. I got a lot for my money.
It's was great
Enjoyed the price the best, but everything else was good as well.
From good to bad.
Early check in request at 12nn
Ongoing construction at 17th floor. Beds are not soft Unlike other hotels.
Everything was wonderful we stayed for 5 nights booking them in 2 lots as needed to add on and extra 2 nights at the forefront. The cleaners were friendly, do anything for you and were at all times available to help out if needed. We loved the upgrade we were given as it gave us wonderful views of Diamond Head and the Honolulu Zoo grounds and some animals. It is close to the beach and provides everything you need for that including towels and a shower at the entrance to rince off the sand. It was close to the shops and restaurants etc. We had stayed there before and loved it and was very quiet so decided to go back.
We had booked 3 nights a few weeks prior through Bookings.com and then had to add on 2 more in the forefront of the time so we also booked that through bookings.com and we rang several times to make sure we would not be made to move between the 2 and 3 nights booked. It was insured we would be ok and not moved from there. We then came to the 3rd morning at 830am and I received a phonecall in the room saying we had to change rooms and be out by 10am. We were, as you can imagine very distressed as had made sure this would not happen, and had to be at the Marriot Hotel to go on and all day trip to Polynesian Cultual Centre. My husband went and spoke, argued with the staff on the front desk and they would not move in their decision. I then got another phone call saying we had to get out. We then refused to and they then relented and phoned back later to say it had been sorted out!!!!! Very poor service indeed
Internet was only available in lobby and up to the 3rd floor. I was staying on the 14th. A little inconvenient. And it was very intermittent. It was also a little noisy.
Location and friendly staff
Renovations being done while we were there
close to the beach and shops, 2 blocks away
we asked for double beds and were allocated a king size bed! there was a lot of remodeling going on.
Location and staff were the highlights, but the overall experience was a positive one in every aspect. There were renovations being done in the next room, and on the outside of the hotel. I was told this when I checked in, and they were very considerate of guests, limited the hours the work was being done (i.e. when guests were likely to be out of the hotel) and thought they managed the renovation process well in consideration for their guests. Fantastic.
We enjoyed the substantial complimentary breakfast and the convenience of a fridge in our room.
The bathroom basin was very stained as was the carpet.
free upgrade on hotel room
Excellent location and a spacious room, also a bit of feeling of the old (the hotel must have been built in the 1950's). View of Diamond Head quite impressive.
Not very cosy, the reception is oddly small, the elevators slow. Some of the carpeting already well run down.
