Don't Let the Lobby Fool You
The lobby was nicely updated.
There was a definite odor in the hallways and the humidity indoors was past uncomfortable. Our check in took a long time because they could not find my reservation despite giving them my booking number. She had to go into the back to check the other, older computer. She still didn't find the reservation so she just put us in a room which was nice, but I wish she would have done that first rather than wasting a half hour. The continental breakfast food was cold and the options were limited (especially if you're on a low carb diet). The staff was by far the worst part. If they weren't ignoring guests to be on their phones (managers as well as full time staff), they were being loud and disruptive in the halls. The pool was not open but there was no mention of that at check in. I had to ask where our room was and there were no good exits near it so it took a long walk to get to the car and back. There was a giant stack of bathtubs outside as well as an old "Best Western" sign on the ground so maybe it will get better after renovations are complete and the staff is more courteous.
Lost in the darkness of a hidden alley in a doubtful neighborhood. They were renovating it, it probably will get a nice hotel, but right now is a wreck.
Breakfast wasn't well stocked. Staff did not seem to know how to check customers in to their rooms.
