The views from the hotel, closeness of the lake and access to mountains, freedom to come and go as we pleased.

Very little! Having spent a lovely family four night stay at Dww Hotel some years ago, we looked forward to our overnight stay on 08-06-2010. We were very disappointed - with the accommodation, the breakfast preparation, the general lack of attention to detail and value for money. We shall no longer recommend this hotel and certainly shall not book again.

The hotel was tired looking, our room had damage to the wall where the door banged open. The bathroom was cheaply decorated and like the rest of the hotel in need of refurbishment, quite old fashioned, tho might suit the older residents. The hotel manager Russel Theron, was less than helpful when we arrived to find the lake view room we booked was unavailable. He showed little concern and tho' he gave us another room over looking the road he made absolutely no effort to compensate us in any way. The next day he was off for 2 days!! it took a lot of effort, on his return, to have the bill amended as he felt he couldn't make any changes. Who is managing this hotel then? We checked out as soon as possible.

Hotel is in a perfect setting with great views and beautiful grounds running down to Derwent Water. Rooms are comfortable and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Our second stay at the Derwent, there will be more.
Bed could have been firmer, bit soft for me.
