We had a luxury escape and requested single beds as we were friends traveling together. At check in I asked if the beds were single and if it was a deluxe room as per Luxury Escapes. I asked several times nut when saw the room we were allocated I did not believe it was a deluxe room and it did not have a city view. After further discussions we were moved to a deluxe room which was considerably larger and had a lovely view. The free mini bar consisted of a single small chocolate bar, one small packet of popcorn and 2 cans of Coca Cola. Again we pointed out that this was hardly a mini bar offering for 2 people. It was a delightful hotel and a glorious position but it does need to honour the Luxury Escape paid for by their clients.

We had an issue with the A/C in the first room on the first night and the hotel moved us to another room and everything was in order there. We only had the included minibar fully stocked once during the 6-night stay and only after mentioning it to the front desk. The minibar was restocked with drinks one more time but the food items were not restocked. Not sure if the hotel only includes one restocking or if it was supposed to be restocked daily. This was included with the rate we paid, I think it was the 'deluxe' package. It's a great hotel but I would say it is more of a 4+ star hotel. It seems the A/C units need updating or repair, the faucets in the bathroom are worn from cleaning so much and our spout was loose, the wood top near the tea-making facilities was warped from prior water damage. We have stayed here 5 or 6 times now over the past few years and the TV in the bathroom has never worked, but we don't use it so it's never been a deal-breaker. It is hit or miss if you get a room with working heated towel racks and/or heated bathroom floors. We love the location, the lobby, the staff, the bar, the breakfast, the courtyard/gardens, etc. It's one of our go-to hotels to stay at when we can afford it. You won't be disappointed if you do stay here. Just make sure to mention any issues with the staff and they will do their best to get it taken care of.

Pros. Stayed in a king suite . View from the room was fantastic and the absolutely stunning at night. The room was spacious and comfortable with very nicely appointed furniture and bed. The bathroom with the heated floor was very nice surprise. Doorman was wonderfully welcoming, the bellboys were quick and helpful and the concierge was professional and always pleasant and patient.

Cons. I asked for an early check in which wasn't possible and I understood this. However, when I returned at the regular check in time, the receptionist without checking with anyone, insisted the room still wasn't ready. Had to ask for the manager, who after checking with housekeeping, found the room was ready. Receptionist was not happy at being contradicted and was less than pleasant for the rest of the check-in process. Not offered breakfast discount on check-in so would have paid substantially more if I hadn't found out about the discount by accident. Stayed two nights. Mini-fridge was not restocked the second day. Took 45 minutes to get a bucket of ice and then felt guilty for asking for it when we found out the poor guy doing room service was the only one on duty. Seems like the hotel needs to amp up the staff numbers to provide the five star service you're paying for.
