You get what you pay for. This place is perfect for when you're more interested in exploring a city than staying in room. Since the price is pretty low and the hostel is in the very center of the city I'd recommend it for a stay during the weekend trip.
Some of the staff don't speak English.

The location is outstanding if you want to spend time in Old Madrid, go to museums, go for tapas without spending a fortune for a room. The rooms are small but very clean and safe and the staff was helpful and spoke good English. You wouldn't want to spend a long time just hanging out in your room here, but if you primarily want a base to sleep in and from which to go out and explore, this is good value in an expensive city.
If you are looking for frills, you won't find them. In the center of town on a major street, naturally there is a lot of street noise, but up on the sixth floor of a building, that noise is probably as low as can be in this district.
