Riad Mariana

Very peaceful riad, just a short walk from the medina (10 mins). We stayed in winter (Jan) and it was a wonderful place to come back to and have a refreshing beverage after the chaotic souks and the madness of the square. The staff are excellent and will help with anything you require, though it helps to be able to speak french, or at least give it a go. We loved having breakfast on the roof each morning with a big pot of mint tea. We had a meal in the riads dining room one night and it was superb, one of the best of our stay.

The bath is huge but the hot water cylinder for our room was small, showering is difficult as you need to hold the shower rose in one hand (or get someone to hold it for you) as there is no fixed point on the wall - I guess in summer you would be having a cold shower anyway. The room on the street side seemed to suck in smoke from the street through the windows - not much you can do about that, the smoke in Marrakesh is everywhere.
