Five Continents is a wonderful all-inclusive B&B! The owners were very accommodating and expected our arrival. The two course breakfast is incredible, as well as on-site parking with electronically controlled gate system. We stayed in the Asian Suite, and the furnishings were lush and comfort to the max! The bathroom was well stocked and everything was clean. The bed was just as comfortable as mine at home (and I'm a big fan of my own bed!).
I would say the ONLY downside to this lovely B&B is the location. It is just down the road from the quarter (about a five min drive), however it is in a slightly sketchy and rundown area. The surrounding houses are nice, but there's not the complete feeling of safety that you like to have in NOLA. You cannot walk to the Quarter, and a taxi cab may be required to avoid the annoying parking when exploring the area. All in all I would definitely consider staying here again, but the area and proximity to the Quarter was a big factor to me despite all the other AMAZING qualities this place possesses.
Five Continents Bed and Breakfast is in the Esplanade Ridge area of New Orleans. This is a historic area of the city and a very residential area where travelers can also find a large number of eateries. It is home to Millionaire’s Row, the St. Louis Cemetery #3, and lots of traditional New Orleans cafes. There are many museums in the neighborhood, too, and all of these things are easily reached from this hotel. The convention center is two miles from the property, and the Superdome is even closer. The French Quarter is within walking distance.
Housed in a classic Greek Revival Mansion, the bed and breakfast provides guests with an array of lovely surroundings to enjoy in addition to their private rooms. There are lots of architectural details and elements such as fireplaces and lounges to enjoy. There is ample parking and each day a cooked breakfast is served in the old-fashioned, formal dining room.
The five rooms are elegant and luxurious with high end bedding, antique furniture, and an array of amenities not usually found in a bed and breakfast room. These include pull out sofas, separate sitting rooms, mini-fridges stocked with beverages, balconies or terraces, four-poster beds, and fireplaces. Ensuite baths have claw foot tubs.
Five Continents Bed and Breakfast takes care of breakfast, but if you want to sample the cuisine of the city, nearby restaurants include, Li’l Dizzy’s, Hank’s Bar, Bertha’s Place, and J’s Creole.
