It was very clean
It was old, cramped, with worn out mattresses
It is filthy..the staff is very kind though.
Great Value! Highly recommended it you're travelin
Bed was comfortable albeit small. Fridge and microwave. Room was very clean and the bathroom had been recently remodeled. The rooms are very small but it didn't bother my wife and I, we were mostly there to sleep. Location is great. It is a 4 minute walk to the subway and a few bus stops close by. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The area also feels pretty safe as well. There was a bit of a catastrophe when we checked in but the hotel staff handled it well. We got to the hotel at 11:15 pm after a frustrating flight to find out there was a problem with our room (air conditioner broke). They put us up for the night at a Day's Inn 15 blocks uptown. They paid for the room there at $290 for the night and paid cab fare both ways. When we came back the next morning our room was ready with a brand new air conditioner. While the ordeal was mildly annoying I felt they handled it very professionally. They could have just said tough shit, we'll fix the AC tomorrow but they didn't
WiFi was spotty at times. Water temperature in the shower is difficult to maintain but thats typical with old buildings.
It exceeded my expectations. Clean and comfortable. Perfect for the solo traveller. Very friendly and helpful staff. It was my first visit to NY and the staff went out of their way to help me. The lobby and sitting room are somewhat off-putting but the rooms are a pleasant surprise! And the location cannot be beat! I will stay here again.
The location within walking distance to all facilities such as transport etc the friendliness of all the staff. The comfort of the Hotel its self
Riverside Tower Hotel is a New York budget hotel that provides some of the best prices in town, plus the suites are an amazing value with prices typically under $200. The narrow tower, built in 1913, is the tallest on the block and offers travelers a feel of how Upper West Siders really live.
The tall hotel sits on the corner of 80th Street and Riverside Drive, offing a great location in the Upper West Side, a residential area with tree-lined streets, great restaurants, shops, and parks. Across the street is Riverside Park. Where bikers and joggers have a waterfront view. Central Park is a 15-minute stroll, as are plenty of specialty stores, such as the famous Zabar’s gourmet store. Three blocks away is the 1 Train for a quick trip downtown.
As a budget-friendly hotel in New York, the hotel is not beaming with amenities. The cute 80 Riverside Café is a local hit with coffee, tea, pastries, and some lunch items. Just as the amenities are bare, the rooms are also bland and simple. The guestrooms and suites can accommodate single travelers, couples, or groups of three or four. All rooms come equipped with convenient standard amenities such as mini-fridges, free WiFi, microwaves, and air-conditioning units. Some of the two-bedroom suites feature decent views of the Hudson River.
Riverside Tower Hotel is great for travelers on a budget who want to visit the Upper West Side. It offers an attractive area and somewhat peaceful New York stay.
