The location mid-town was very convenient to my conference.
Bedbugs. They moved me to a much better room, but I was not confident that it was bedbug free. There was no way to make tea or coffee in my room. A huge drawback as far as I am concerned.
Getaway
Staff- especially Arijan (sp), were courteous and professional, very accomodating.
Bathroom is a little small....1 person max
Old and genuine New York City
Charming, location is near shows and very central, interesting architectural details, great coffee from espresso machine in lobby and it's always available, nice to have two beds as I was traveling with my adult daughter, staff helpful and friendly
The room was cold and an engineer fixed our radiator, however, when temps hit the teens, you could feel cold air coming through the ac window unit. The shower tiles had some moldy grout.
Great, but small hotel
Good hotel for sleeping, but too small to spend much time in. So, it's good if you plan to see the NYC sights. Has a nice reading room up front with free wifi. Have to pay for wifi in the room which is kind of odd. Room was clean and comfortable for sleeping. I wouldn't recommend the hotel for families with young children. Perfect hotel for touring NYC or watching a Broadway show.
Great place to stay for weekend getaway in Midtown
Location in the middle of everything. Friendly staff and nice rooms for boutique hotel.
Free wifi in lobby only; paid wifi in rooms. Would have liked free wifi in rooms.
Film noir atmosphere; rude, robotic front desk cle
I love the character and history of this show. I film like I am in a film noir movie with its library, the spiral staircase and the classic, old NY feel of the rooms. The only complaint I had was the staff. The first time I stayed, they greeted me with such a welcoming warmth and interest in me as an individual. It was lovely! This time, they had a rude woman working the front desk who was so cold--no smile, no eye contact, just the most basic robotic responses. Please Mansfield Hotel, you have such class, such character! Hire people who treat people with respect and friendliness! Because of her, I may be looking to stay elsewhere in the city next time.
The rude, robotic woman at the front desk. Please find someone who is friendly, interested. It's a boutique hotel. It is charming and the service should reflect that charm!
Just plain dirty
It was a rather horrible experience. The room was small and dirty and nothing like what was advertised. The furniture was broken and it was facing a wall. The room next to mine had several people in it who were partying late into the night and even though I called the reception they refused to do anything about it. So there was shouting and music until after 2am. Probably one of the worst hotel i stayed at in a long time.
It was a gift for my siblings and it was terrible
NOTHING
Double room was smaller than anything they've seen before. It was only one tiny bed [I even called them explaining they are sister and brother] and I believe it was a twin or maximum a queen- my brother was taller than the size of the bed-unacceptable. My closet is bigger than that bathroom and the building is remodeling so it looked terrible and they so bugs on the shower-real gross. I payed the price of a 4 star hotel in Times Square and they told me they've been in more comfy hostels in Europe. Staff was not accommodating at all and since my family does not speak English very well they did not offer to change to a decent room (for the price I payed). I feel so bad for them and I feel scammed by this. Ridiculous.
no free wifi
Very small rooms
It was very clean
Room was very small and the bed was small as well
could be so much more....
great value, wonderful cozy old world flavor. Library with espresso machine and fireplace, beautiful marble staircases
Unbelievable lack of attention to detail. This hotel could be soooo much better if they simply cared about details. The gym has had 3 of the 4 cardio equipment broken for over 6 months! The hallway carpets are worn, the paint is scuffed, gym towels usually absent, gym t.v. broken... I would happily pay 10% more at this hotel for better TLC. Sadly, it seems they are content to compete on price alone, in spite of having a gem of a property. Poor management, in my opinion.
Great Boutique Hotel
Location, staff, and amenities were fantastic. Highly recommended
What didn't I like? The valet service through the hotel left trash from Subway in my car. Disappointed in that.
