We reserved a family room (double and a single). First room they tried to give us was 2 twins in a room without a door knob. Stains on the bed covers and an overall stink. After complaining to the owner they gave us a double with a twin all scrunched into a small room on the 4th floor (no lift).Mind you they said that all the rooms were booked and everyone checked in which was obviously a bald faced lie.
Many good points. a friendly welcome, helpful staff, a comfortable bed and the bar was open till late!
Only one. The temperature of the shower in my room barely reached tepid. as this was only one night it mattered little to me but worth checking out
The downstairs of the hotel has a warm evening atmosphere and a fun design. The staff are friendly and it is near the river and beautiful bridges.
Make sure you ask for one of the new rooms as we were faced with a very small, cold, shabby room and a fold out sofa bed for the same price as the larger, updated rooms with four poster beds! Be sure to check your booking with them twice before arrival as we checked only once and were not put on the booking list.
The rooms were replenished daily and clened for when i returned and the food for breakfast was spot on. Steve on the bar was very approachable with a smile on his face at all times and when time allowed was willing to have a chat. The two ladies who did Breakfast were also excellent and very friendly and could not do enough for me. So thanks to them.
At night time during the week i came down every night to eat but with me not being a great fan of tapas i ate the from the specials board. Unfortunately the special was the same all week and i would of liked a touch of variety. Due to this i went somewhere else for dinner when because of the nature of my visit (business) i would of preferred to stay there as i had lots of studying to do in my room. It would not put me off however as the positives far outweighed the negatives. Keep up the good work i think your on to a winner yours sincerely Graham Macdonald.
The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times.Hotel was basic but clean and very well heated despite the extremely bad weather.Hotel tapas bar great food and good value for money
Breakfast finished a little bit to early at nine am.Nine thirty is more appropiate for people on holiday especially in an northern England winter.
